The purpose of the study was to suggest the housing alternatives for the elderly from the viewpoint of aging in place. The study was intended to present the alternatives on the basis of the concept of group home and shared housing. In order to achieve it, first, the concept and characteristics of group home and shared housing were examined. Then, the living conditions of the elderly and the home sharing related needs of them were examined. The subjects were 201 older persons whose age was more than 65 years and lived in detached houses. Results were as follows; 1) It was identified that group home and shared housing were acceptable to the subject aged. 2) The modified group home which consisted of less than 10 individual detached houses and common area was presented as an alternative for the elderly. The individual ones were existing ones which the elderly lived in. The common area included of common kitchen, dining room, bathroom, and living room for about 10 old persons. The common area can be provided by building a new one and remodeling the existing building for other purpose or community center for the elderly. The detached houses which had spare bedrooms can be shared by another old persons. This alternative would be economic and useful to the elderly.
Recently, framed structure is increasingly being used as apartment structure due to the advantages during remodeling. Therefore, the use of lightweight panel as separating wall is increasing. To construct lightweight panel structures with sound insulation performance appropriate to the conditions of each field, measurement of sound reduction index(SRI) through panel structures should be performed. In this study, measurement of SRI through 46 kinds of panel structures was performed in the condition of various factors such as surface density, air space and absorber. The result showed that SRI of panel structures was generally higher by increasing of surface density. In the case of double panel with no absorber, SRI at below critical frequency was gradually increased according to rise of air space. Double panel with absorber make remarkable improvement in SRI at low frequency, but there is a little difference compared with SRI of double panel with no absorber over critical frequency.

Ghost cell odontogenic carcinoma (GCOC) is a rare malignant neoplasm characterized by the presence of ghost cells. It is considered to originate from either a calcifying odontogenic cyst(COC) or a dentinogenic ghost cell tumor(DGCT). Its clinical and radiographic characteristics are non-specific, including slow growth, locally aggressive behavior, and eventual metastasis. This case report describes a 43-year-old Thai man with plain radiographs and cone-beam computed tomographic images revealing a unilocular radiolucency with non-corticated borders surrounding an impacted left canine associated with radiopaque foci around the cusp tip. Based on the microscopic findings, the lesion was diagnosed as GCOC. Partial maxillectomy of the right maxilla was performed, and radiotherapy was administered. An obturator was made to support masticatory functions Three years later, the lesion showed complete bone remodeling and no signs of recurrence, and long-term follow-up was done regularly.
Purpose: This study was conducted in order to compare the efficacy of osseointegration of three different calcium metaphosphate (CMP) coated implants in the rabbit's femur. Materials and Methods: Twenty four rabbits and three different type of CMP coated implants and RBM implants were used in this study. The animals were divided into 4 groups on the basis of implant surface characteristics. Two implants were installed into the condyle of femur of each rabbits. The animals were sacrificed at 2 and 4 weeks after installation. The undecalcified specimens were prepared for histological, radiological examination and histomorphometric analysis of implant-bone contact ratios (BIC) and bone area ratio (BA). Results: Two implants were failed to osseointegrate and implant success rate was 95.2%. There were not any significant inflammatory response in all groups. Fluorescent image at 4 weeks shows that remodeling is slower in RBM group than CMP group. CMP III showed more active remodeling than CMP I, II. In histomorphologic analysis, BIC ratio at 2 weeks was lower than 4 weeks. Conclusion: The results suggest that the ratios of CMP coated implants were higher than that of RBM control group but there is no significantly difference between RBM group and CMP group. In conclusion, CMP coated implant had more clinical availability than RBM implants.
The tendon is a dense connective tissue that connects muscle to bone and plays an essential role in joint motion. The injured tendon heals slowly owing to its low cellularity and vascularity. This study aimed to evaluate and compare the effects of regenerative injection therapy (RIT), 20 % dextrose prolotherapy (DP), and platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injections that can promote tendon healing. Twenty-one New Zealand white rabbits were divided into the control, DP, and PRP treatment groups. The superficial digital flexor tendon (SDFT) of the right hindlimb of each rabbit was used. A round defect of 2 mm was induced. Approximately 0.2 mL of 20% dextrose and autologous PRP were injected into the proximal and distal ends of the SDFT mass. Radiographic and ultrasonographic examination and cross-sectional area (CSA) calculations were performed pre-operatively and at 2, 4, and 8 weeks. The SDFT of both limbs was transected for biomechanical and histomorphometric evaluations. The SDFT of the left limb was transected for intact control. Semi-quantitative analysis was performed to evaluate the histomorphometric properties. Additional analysis was performed using H&E, Masson's trichrome, and immunohistochemical staining. The biomechanical evaluation showed that the treatment groups had higher tensile strength compared to the defect control group, while the PRP group had higher tensile strength than the DP group. On histological examination, the treatment groups appeared to be relatively closer to the remodeling phase of the healing process than the defect control group; the characteristics of the PRP group were closer to the remodeling phase than those of the DP group. The ultrasonographic examination showed different tendencies. Increased values in the CSA were observed during the early period in the treatment groups. This study suggests that PRP and DP can promote the healing of tendon injury, and these effects were superior with PRP than that with DP.
