Scalable Overlay Multicast supporting QoS and Reliability (QoS와 신뢰성을 제공하는 확장성 있는 오버레이 멀티캐스트)

  • In order to support overlay multicast with scalability and reliability, in this paper, we introduced a new multicast tree construction method and a regional multicast. The architecture we introduce efficiently transmits streaming data to the users from multicast source in an environment in which non-multicast network and multicast network. The new multicast tree construction method enables the connection with a remote relay which is an optimum condition in case there is no relay in subnet. Besides, by defining a new service type to traffic class of IPv6 header, a selective adoption or FEC and a distinctive transmission became possible. In order to verify the effect of the solution we suggested, we embodied an environment which is similar to the actual service environment by a simulator and tested it. The result of the test shows that the proposed method is more efficient than the traditional unicast approach method and the existing overlay multicast.

  • In this paper, we analyze the performance and reliability of the next-generation KRTCS (Korea Radio Train System) network. The KRTCS has been designed to manage and control the overall status of trains including location, speed, stop position, door open/close status and interior monitoring and so forth. System faults of the KRTCS operation can lead to the disruption of smooth train flow, even to terrible traffic accident. Prior to installation we need to assure the reliability of the designed KRTCS system. For this purpose, we simulated and analyzed the KRTCS network using QualNet simulator, assuming the various environmental operation data of train flows and communication faults that can be found in real telecommunication networks.

  • Due to enhanced demands on quality, security and reliability of the electric power energy system, a microgrid has become a subject of special interest. In this paper, output characteristics of energy storage system (ESS) with an electric double layer capacitor (EDLC) and battery energy storage system (BESS) of a renewable energy based microgrid were analyzed under grid-connected and islanded operation modes. The microgrid which consists of photovoltaic and wind power turbine generators, diesel generator, ESS with an EDLC, BESS and loads was modeled using real time digital simulator. The results present the effective control patterns of the microgrid system.

  • This paper illustrates the use of electric field computation to optimize the design of high voltage composite bushing. In the bushing, a high electric stress occurred between field shaper and central conductor by the closely space. Also coaxial cylindrical shield has a great height along the axis to control an electric field. Consequently, all the potentials are raised axially along the field shaper and electric stress is concentrated on a part of the surface of the FRP tube near the upper end of the field shaper. Maxwell 2D simulator based on the boundary element method was also introduced in order to verify the reliability of the polymer bushing. The optimized design uses internal elements for electric stress grading at critical parts of the bushing.

  • The method that the operating condition of Control Rod Drive Mechanism (CRDM) can be monitored without mounting sensors within CRDM housing was developed, and by using this developed method the closed-loop controller for the CRDM was designed which can optimize the performance and maximize the reliability of CRDM operation. Neural network is utilized as pattern recognition engine in detecting CRDM actuation. In this paper, most problems in previous open loop system are resolved. The control algorithms for closed-loop system ore developed and implemented within the hardware of timing controller based on microprocessor. All functions in the timing controller ore verified by means of real time CRDM simulator. The results show that the timing controller performs its intended functions properly.

  • A variety of approaches on performance evaluation modeling have appeared in the technical literature for flexible manufacturing systems(FMS) which can be evaluated only through computer simulation. This study represents a comparative approach for FMS performance evaluation modeling based on reliability, availability and maintainability, and life cycle cost. The methodology proposed in this research includes the following three-step generative approaches. First, a static model to find the initial system configuration is considered under the assumption that the system availability is given as one (failure and maintenance are not considered), and in second step, a stochastic simulation is proposed to serve as a performance evaluation model for FMS with stochastic failure and repair time. In the last step, we developed a simulation modeling using a simulator, FACTOR/AIM to consider a variety of performance factors and dynamic behavior of FMS. Also the applicability and validity of the proposed approaches has been tested and compared through the results of a sample problem using computer programs and procedures developed in each step.

  • Synchronous generators have been significantly applied in large-scale power plants and its monitoring systems are additionally established to sequentially observe states and outputs. We develop a computer based monitoring device for three-phase synchronous power generators in this paper. First, a test-bed of such generator system is created and then a interface board is constructed to transfer electric signals including the output voltage and the current from generators into a computer system via a data acquisition device. Its RMS(root-mean-square) values are continuously shown on a screen of computer systems and its time-histories graphs are additionally illustrated under a graphic user interface(GUI) mode. Lastly, we carry out real-time experiments using the generator system with the monitoring device to demonstrate its reliability and superiority by comparing results of a generic power analyzer which is well-used in measuring various power systems practically.

  • The safety of the ship manoeuver is dependent not only on the inherent characteristics of the ship itself and environmental conditions, but also on the skill and experience of the ship operator. As the ship operator's judgement is related to his experience and skill, based on outside information, piloted controllability also depends upon the effectiveness, accuracy and reliability of various information which is obtainable from navigational equipments and aids to navigation that are available to the ship ope-rator. Although these factors, human factors and informational factors, have been pointed out as major factors which affect the controllability of a ship, there was no a comprehensive examination on the effect of these two factors. In this thesis, therefore, an attempt was made to examine whether or not there is clear indication that these two factors affect the controllability of a ship in reality. Experiments were conducted using the port design simulator of the Korea Maritime University.

  • This paper presents a new developed 160kV-120kW Class MPC (magnetic pulse compressor) power supply for DeNOx, DeSOx system. The circuit consists of N-series connected CCPS (capacitor charging power supply) and MPC Tank. The MPC power supply developed compared to the conventional LC resonant type has many advantage, it was verified reliability of a product by module, simulator and tank connection test. Now, the developed MPC power supply is installed POSCO sintering plant for DeSOx, DeNOx system.

  • In this paper, we proposed the method judging whether transmission system is radial system or loop system using simple set theory. And we proposed the method judging whether power device's operation causes of blackout or not. Using proposed method, we developed automatic judgement system of radial system for preventing power device's wrong control in SCADA. Finally, we simulated a variety of case study using SCADA simulator with developed system, and verified reliability of the result and performance of developed system.
