This paper considers a delamination analysis of a statically undetermined inhomogeneous beam structure of rectangular section with viscoelastic behavior under torsion. The beam is built in at its two ends. The beam has two longitudinal inhomogeneous layers with a delamination crack between them. A notch is made in the upper crack arm. The external torsion moment applied on the beam is a function of time. Under these conditions, the beam has one degree of indeterminacy. In order to derive the strain energy release rate, first, the static indeterminacy is resolved. Then the strain energy release rate is obtained by analyzing the balance of the energy with considering the viscoelastic behavior. The strain energy release rate is found also by analyzing the compliance of the beam for checkup. Solution of the strain energy release rate in a beam without a notch in the upper crack arm is derived too. In this case, the beam has two degrees of static indeterminacy (the torsion moment in the upper crack arm is treated as an additional internal redundant unknown). A parametric investigation of the strain energy release rate is carried-out.

In this paper, we generalize the software reliability growth model by assuming that the testing cost and maintenance cost are random and adopt the Bayesian approach to determine the optimal software release time. Numerical examples are provided to illustrate the Bayesian method for certain parametric models.
In this study, a numerical sensitivity analysis was performed to determine the fire suppression time for a large number of water mist nozzles in a large fire compartment. Fire simulations were performed using FDS (Fire dynamics simulator) 6.5.2 under the same condition as the test scenario 5 of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) 1165 test protocol. The sensitivities of input parameters including cell size, extinguishing coefficient (EC), droplets per second (DPS), and peak heat release rate (HRR) of fuel were investigated in terms of the normalized HRR and temperature distribution in the compartment. A new method of determining the fire suppression time using FDS simulation was developed, based on the concept of the cut-off time by cut-off value (COV) of the heat release rate per unit volume (HRRPUV) and the cooling time by the HRR cooling time criteria value (CTCV). In addition, a method was developed to determine the average EC value for the simulation input, using the cooling time and cut-off time.
Methyl methacrylate-butyl methacrylate copolymer (MMBM)-dibutyl phthalate (DBP) films were investigated as a potential topical drug delivery system for the controlled release of nitrofurazone. The kinetic analysis of release data indicated that drug release followed a diffusion-controlled granular matrix model, where the quantity released per unit area is proportional to the square root of time. DBP of several hydrophobic plasticizers selected was found to give the highest release of nitrofurazone. However, hydrophilic plasticizers such as propylene glycol and polyethylene glycol 400 had no controlled release properties and acceptable film formation. The effects of changes in film composition, drug concentration, film thickness, pH of release medium, and temperature on the in vitro release of nitrofurazone were analyzed both theoretically and experimentally. The release rate constant (k') was found to be proportional to DBP content, pH, and the temperature of release medium, but independent of film thickness, and drug concentration in a range of 0.1-0.4% by weight. The linear relationship was found to exist between the log k' and DBP content. The release of nitrofurazone from MMBM-DBP (8:2) films was found to be an energy-linked process. Two energy terms were calculated ; the activation energy for matrix diffusion was 13.45 kcal/mole, and the heat of drug crystal solvation was 27.26-29.34 kcal/mole. Observation of scanning electron micrographs and microscopic photographs showed that the incorporation of DBP in films increased markedly the particle size of nitrofurazone dispersed in the film matrix, comparing with the fine dispersion of nitrofurazone in pure MMBM film alone.

A prompt fission gas release model incorporating the resistance to gas flow in the gap was developed and the effects of gap resistance and failure location on prompt fission gas release from the cladding breach were assessed. The process of prompt fission gas release from the plenum and gap into the coolant was modeled in accordance with three major phenomena: (1) transient gas flow in the gap, (2) the growth of the fission gas bubble while it is still attached to the breach, and (3) the detachment of the fission gas bubble from the breach and mixing with the coolant. The cumulative mass release fraction by the present model was calculated for the case of Young-Gwang 3 & 4 nuclear fuel rod as a typical example. The results showed that the release behavior of prompt fission gas with time was different from the frictionless model which has frequently been used in a simplified approach, and that the location of cladding failure was another key factor for the prompt fission gas release process due to the resistance in the gap.
Release rate is one of the important items for the environmental impact assessment caused by radioactive materials in case of an accidental release from the nuclear facilities. In this study, the uncertainty of the estimated release rate is evaluated using Monte Carlo method. Gaussian plume model and linear programming are used for estimating the release rate of a source material. Tracer experiment is performed at the Yeoung-Kwang nuclear site to understand the dispersion characteristics. The optimized release rate was 1.56 times rather than the released source as a result of the linear programming to minimize the sum of square errors between the observed concentrations of the experiment and the calculated ones using Gaussian plume model. In the mean time, 95% confidence interval of the estimated release rate was from 1.41 to 2.53 times compared with the released rate as a result of the Monte Carlo simulation considering input variations of the Gaussian plume model. We confirm that this kind of the uncertainty evaluation for the source rate can support decision making appropriately in case of the radiological emergencies.
The present study examined effects of caffeine on coronary circulation myocardial oxygen me-tabolism and calcium release in isolated perfused guinea pig hearts. Intracoronary caffeine({{{{ {10 }^{-5 } }}}}∼{{{{ { 10}^{-3 } }}}}M) was employed for 10 minutes to measure coronary perfusate flow(CF) and coronary vascular sresistance(CVR) at a constant coronary perfusion pressure of 80 cmH2O Perfusate myocardial oxygen consumption(MVO2) and percent oxygen extraction(%EC2) were calcula-ted. In addition calcium contents in both perfusate samples were measured to calculate calcium release in coronary venous effluent. Caffeine significantly decreased CF and increased CVR during 10 minutes of caffeine perfusion regardless of dose of caffeine perfused exhibiting time-response. While % EO2 was significantly enhanced with caffeine MVO2 was markedly reduced. The coronary venous perfusate pH dcreased during the perfusion with caffeine. These changes were consistent with caffeine-induced metabolic acidosis. Calcium release appeared to be dose-dependent and high dose of caffeine greatly increased venous calcium release even 2 minutes after perfusion with carffeine. These finding in dicate that caffeine produced coronary vasoconst-riction with increased calcium release in isolated perfused guinea pig hearts. Additionaly this vasoconstrictor response mignt be due tin part to the direct actions of caffeine.

Purpose: This study was to evaluate effects of myofascial release therapy for newborns and infants with congenital torticollis. Methods: In a two month period, thirty-six newborns and infants diagnosed with congenital muscular torticollis received treatment thirty times; then divided into a myofascial release group and stretching group. Crying frequency was used to measure the amount of crying time during treatment. Ultrasonography was used to measure the size of fibromatosis. Physical examinations were used to measure the degree of head tilting and rotation. Results: The results were as follows: 1. Crying frequency was significantly decreased in myofascial degree group. 2. The size of fibromatosis was not significantly decreased in ultrasonography. 3. Head tilt was significantly decreased in myofascial release group. 4. Rotation was not significantly increased in myofascial release and control group. Conclusion: The above results suggest that myofascial release therapy is helpful decreasing head tilt, crying frequency, and increasing head rotation.
This study is purposed to develop the sustained release and bioavailability of piracetam (PA). The use of alginate beads as a means to achieve sustained release of piracetam was evaluated in comparison with that of piracetam alone. In the PA-sodium alginate(SA) beads was confirmed by differential scanning calorimetry thermogram(DSC), indicating a relative shift of an endometric peak of PA to higher temperature. The changes in dissolution rates from PA-SA beads and PASA beads coated by chitosan(CHO) were significantly slower than that of intact PA. The release rate of PA-SA in the gastric fluid was markedly decreased compared with that in the intestinal fluid, suggesting that PA is mostly released in the intestinal fluid. However, the PA/SA ratio scarcely affected the release profile. The blood concentration- time curves of PA, PA-SA and PA-SA-CHO were obtained by oral administration to rats. $T_{max}$ of PA, PA-SA and PA-SA-CHO were 1, 10 and 6 hours, respectively. It was confirmed that the release of PA was prolonged by the formulation of PA-SA beads and PA-SA-CHO beads.
This study was conducted to investigate the economic effect of the release of seed flounder to the central area of the West Sea, which was analyzed into both direct and indirect effects. The results showed that based on the data collected from partial area, the economic effect of flounder seed release reached 6.97 times, average catch proportion was 32.27$\%$, and recapture rate was 11.26$\%$, suggesting that economic effect was very high. In addition, it was observed that the recapture rate was greatly higher than 2.05$\%$, that of Break-Even-Point. It was noted that the increased catch by the release of seed flounder resulted in the increase in commission of sales and the increase in sports fishing. Another economic effect observed were diverse including the increase in income of fishing village, elevated spirit to proper management of fisheries resources, maintaining of willingness to live in fishing village through activation of local fishing village, prevention of illegal fishing including capture of juvenile fish, and the increase in the supply of sea food of high quality. It is emphasized that although the investigation was conducted in the same area, the results will vary by size at release, time at release and other factors. Finally, there is a need to expand species and area of study for more active economic analysis incorporating natural sciences.
