  • In this paper, we investigate a security transmission scheme at the physical layer for cooperative wireless relay networks in the presence of a passive eavesdropper. While the security scheme has been previously investigated with perfect channel state information(CSI) in the presence of a passive eavesdropper, this paper focuses on researching the robust cooperative relay beamforming mechanism for wireless relay networks which makes use of artificial noise (AN) to confuse the eavesdropper and increase its uncertainty about the source message. The transmit power used for AN is maximized to degrade the signal-to-interference-plus-noise-ratio (SINR) level at the eavesdropper, while satisfying the individual power constraint of each relay node and worst-case SINR constraint at the desired receiver under a bounded spherical region for the norm of the CSI error vector from the relays to the destination. Cooperative beamforming weight vector in the security scheme can be obtained by using S-Procedure and rank relaxation techniques. The benefit of the proposed scheme is showed in simulation results.

  • In this paper, we propose a relay-based DF cooperative communication scheme using repetitive transmission algorithm for wireless LAN environments on D-STBC. Additional transmission diversity gain can be obtained by repetitive transmission algorithm. However, in comparison with conventional schemes, data rate is decreased in half. We consider data modulation constellation twice higher than conventional schemes. Further, system complexity is decreased and performance degradation is minimized because repetitive transmission algorithm is adapted between source and relay node. We show the uncoded BER performance of the proposed algorithm over HiperLAN/2 Rayleigh fading channel.

  • In this paper, we proposed adaptive two-way relay cooperative communication considering the quality of the user-relay links, and derived outage probability. Network-coding based two-way relay communication can achieve more throughput since it can reduce transmission time compared conventional two-way relay communication. However, Network-coding based two-way relay communication assume that the relay can decode received signal correctly. If relay cannot decode the signal, it leads to error propagation at the relay. In this paper, we proposed adaptive two-way relay cooperative communication scheme. In proposed scheme, the user "A" transmits the signal to relay and another user "B". The relay operates adaptively depend on quality of user-relay links. Simulation result show that proposed scheme has better performance when the quality of the user-relay links are poor. Also it can get diversity order 2.

  • Two-way relay channel is a bidirectional cooperative communication channel that two terminals communicate each other with the help of a relay. In the previous cooperative communication schemes, a relay uses two divided resources for bidirectional transmission. When a network coding is used at a relay, the relay can transmit bidirectional data to two terminals simultaneously using one resource only. Thus the throughput of this scheme is greater than that of the previous scheme. In this paper, we showa two-way cooperative ARQ protocol using network coding and the throughput of this protocol is analyzed using a state diagram.

  • In this paper, considering the superposition transmission-based wireless cooperative multicast communication system (ST-CMS) with multiple relays and destinations, we propose a relay selection scheme to improve the data rate of multicast communication. In addition, we adopt the optimal power allocation coefficient for the superposition transmission to maximize the data rate of the proposed relay selection scheme. To propose the relay selection scheme, we derive an approximate expression for the data rate of the ST-CMS, and present the relay selection scheme using only partial channel state information based on the approximate expression. Moreover, we derive an approximate average data rate of the proposed relay selection scheme. Through numerical investigation, comparing the average data rates of the proposed relay selection scheme and the optimal relay selection scheme using full channel state information, we show that the proposed scheme provides extremely similar performance to the optimal scheme in the high signal-to-noise power ratio region.

  • We propose a dynamic time allocation method in cooperative multiplexing with partial relaying system. This method uses a linear programming and considers protocol that is based on relaying of partial information bits followed by cooperative multiplexing. In this protocol, regardless of the location of relay, the allocation time for each transmission time slots are constant. Using a dynamic time allocation method with considering the location of relay, we can find optimal transmission time slots, and show that the system capacity is optimized.

  • In this paper, We propose that the adaptive cooperative relay transmission technique using closed-loop MIMO scheme for duplex communication system. As the mobility between relay and base station is little, closed-loop MIMO is better diversity gain than open-loop MIMO. At this time, more than one relaying terminals are included in one cooperative group to share their transmission and take precoding weight feedback. For minimization of throughput reduction caused by increasing feedback bits, we use codebook-based MRT that limit the number of feedback bits. Among the cooperative relay group, the best relays are selected from the base stataion and get the feedback. A protocol senarios are also proposed for this relay system.

  • In this paper, we evaluate the outage performance of cooperative transmission in two-dimensional random networks. Firstly, we derive the joint distributions of the source-relay and the relay-destination links. Secondly, the outage probability for the decode-and-forward relaying system is derived when selection combining (SC) is employed at the destination. Finally, we calculate the average outage probability of the system and then attempt to express it by a simple approximate expression. The simulation results are presented to verify the accuracy of the derivations. Similar to deterministic networks, the cooperative transmission in random networks outperforms direct transmission at a high signal-to-noise ratio (SNR).

  • In this paper, we propose a QoS (Quality of Service)-aware and cooperative resource reservation scheme using cross-layer link adaptation for wireless high definition video transmission through UWB (Ultra Wide Band) network with D-MAC (Distributed Medium Access Control). A wireless high definition video transmission system usually requires stable high throughput even without line-of-sight, e.g., a destination device in another room separated by a wall. Since the WiMedia D-MAC supporting DRP (Distributed Reservation Protocol) scheme causes lots of DRP resource reservation conflicts due to failure of beacon detection in wireless channel environment, overall performances of the WiMedia D-MAC can be deteriorated. And the current WiMedia MAC standard has not considered QoS provisioning even though QoS parameters such as a range of service rates are provided to each traffic stream. Therefore, we propose Relay DRP protocol with QoS-based relay node selection criterion, which makes a relay path to avoid DRP resource reservation conflicts and guarantee QoS more stably through cross-layer link adaptation of cooperative relay transmission scheme and is compliant with the current WiMedia D-MAC protocol. Simulation results demonstrate performance improvements of the proposed method for throughput and QoS provisioning.

  • In this paper, for a cooperative communication system with multiple relays, we consider a relay selection method by exploiting the trust degree information of relay nodes. In the cooperative communication system, we interpret the trust degree of relays as the probability that relay helps the communication between the transmitter and receiver. We first provide an expected achievable rate at the receiver by taking into account the both cases that the relay helps the transmission of transmitter and the relay does not help the transmission of transmitter according to its trust degree. For given trust degree information, we propose an efficient relay selection method to maximize the expected achievable rate at the receiver. For the various configurations, the simulation results confirm that the proposed relay selection method outperforms the conventional relay selection method, which does not consider the trust degree of relay nodes.
