The frequency dependence of complex permeability for various NiCuZn ferrites was investigated. The variation of complex permeability for NiCuZn ferrites can be presented as a form of a semi-circle, so called the Cole-Cole plot, and the relaxation phenomena were explained with various shapes of the plots. The relaxation time $\Upsilon$ was calculated from $f_rx$, which is a relaxation frequency at ${\mu"}_{max}$. Relations between anisotropy field $H_A$ and relaxation time $\Upsilon$, initial permeability $\mu_i$ and $H_A$ were plotted to identify the frequency dependence of complex permeability.lity.
Rice plants are subjected to various forces such as natural force of wind and mechanical force of cultivating machines. Rheological behavior of the rice stem can be expressed in terms of three variables : stress, relaxation and time. The objectives of this study are to examine stress relaxation, creep and recovery characteristics on the rice stem in case of axial and radial loading. Stress relaxation with time was studied on three levels of loading rate and on four levels of applied stress. The results were summarized as follows : 1. The hysterisis losses of the rice stem distinctly observed at the radial compression in comparison with axial compression. The hysterisis loss implied that the stem to absorbed energy without being deformed beyond the yield point. 2. Ageneralized Maxwell model consisting of three elements gave a good description of the relaxation behavior of the rice stem. Rate of loading was more significant on the observed relaxation behavior within the short relaxation time, but there were little influences of rate of loading on the relaxation time. 3. The stress relaxation intensity and the residual stress increased in magnitude as the applied stress increased, but the relaxation time was little affected by the applied stress. 4. The coefficients of the stress relaxation model showed much differences in the radial compression and the axial compression, especially the higher relaxation stress of the third element was observed in the radial compression. 5. The behaviors of rice stem in creep and recovery test also might be represented by a four element Burger's model. But the coefficients of the creep model were different from those of the recovery model. 6. The steady-state phenomena of creep appeared at the stress larger than 20 MPa in Samkang and 1.8 MPa in Whajin. 7. The elastic modulus of the stem showed the range from 40 to 60 MPa. It could be considered, as a result, the rice stems had viscoelastic properties.
The electrical transport properties of $La_{0.5}Sr_{0.5}CrO_3$ below room temperatures were investigated by dielectric, dc resistivity, magnetic properties and thermoelectric power. Below $T_c$, $La_{0.5}Sr_{0.5}CrO_3$ contains a dielectric relaxation process in the tangent loss and electric modulus. The $La_{0.5}Sr_{0.5}CrO_3$ involves the transition from high temperature thermal activated conduction process to low temperature one. The transition temperature corresponds well to the Curie point. The relaxation mechanism has been discussed in the frame of electric modulus spectra. The scaling behavior of the modulus suggests that the relaxation mechanism describes the same mechanism at various temperatures. The low temperature conduction and relaxation takes place in the ferromagnetic phase. The ferromagnetic state in $La_{0.5}Sr_{0.5}CrO_3$ indicates that the electron - magnon interaction occurs, and drives the carriers towards localization in tandem with the electron - lattice interaction even at temperature above the Curie temperature.
Most of ferrous b.c.c weld materials may experience martensitic transformation during rapid cooling after welding. It is well known that volume expansion due to the phase transformation could influence on the relaxation of welding residual stress. To apply this effect practically, it is a prerequisite to establish a numerical model which is able to estimate the effect of phase transformation on residual stress relaxation quantitatively. For this purpose, the analysis is carried out in two regions. i.e., heating and cooling, because the variation of material properties following a phase transformation in cooling is different in comparison with the case in heating, even at the same temperature. The variation of material properties following phase transformation is considered by the adjustment of specific heat and thermal expansion coefficient, and the distribution of residual stress in analysis is compared with that of experiment by previous study. consequently, in this study, simplified numerical procedures considering phase transformation, which based on a commercial finite element package was established through comparing with the experimental data of residual stress distribution by other researcher. To consider the phase transformation effect on residual stress relaxation, the transition of mechanical and thermal property such as thermal expansion coefficient and specific heat capacity was found by try and error method in this analysis.
The Thermally Stimulated Current(TSC) spectroscopy has been applied to study the influence of the structual cahange and interface on the electrical properties of epoxy composites. Three DGEBA-MeTHPA matrix model samples mixed different ratios and silica($SiO_2$) filled sample and silaln treating-filled sample has been studied. Above room temperature, the relaxation mode $\alpha$ peak associated with Tg has been located at $110^{\circ}C$. Below glass transition temperature(Tg), three relaxation modes are observed in all samples: a $\beta$ mode situated at $10^{\circ}C$, a $\gamma$ mode located at $-40^{\circ}C$ and a $\delta$ mode appeared in $-120^{\circ}C$. The analysis of its fine structure indicates that constitution of elementary processes is characterized by the activation energy and relaxation time. Also the dielectric relaxation properties have been investigated to compare the the change of the molecular structure and motion to the relaxation properties and conduction mechanism in TSC spectra.
In this study, stress relaxation tests were carried out by keeping silt type soil specimens under different strain levels. Decreases in the stress values with time data was collected to better understand the effect of the strain level on the relaxation properties of soil specimens. In addition, the stress relaxation effect on the uniaxial compressive strength (UCS) values of the specimens was investigated with a series of tests. According to the results obtained from this study, the UCS values of the silt specimens significantly vary as a result of the stress relaxation effect. The UCS values were determined to increase with an increase of relaxation strain level to a threshold value. On the other hand, the UCS values were found to be affected adversely in case of high stress levels at the initiation of the relaxation, which are close to the peak level.
Dynamic properties of proteins can present key information on protein-ligand and protein-protein interaction. Despite their usefulness, the properties of protein dynamics have not been obtained easily due to protein stability and short-term measurement. Here, it is shown that combined method for analysis of dynamical properties. It utilizes predicted order parameter and NMR relaxation data such as $T_1$, $T_2$, and heteronuclear NOE. The suggested method could be used to know the flexibility of protein roughly without precise dynamical parameters such as order parameters through model-free analysis.
The dielectric properties of Y-ray irradiated and thermally aged polyetheretherketone (PEEK) have been investigated. Results of the temperature dependency of dielectric properties indicated that the glass transition temperature of aged PEEK increased as radiative and thermal ageing. The frequency dependency of dielectric properties implied that the magnitude of radiation and thermal induced dipoles, ions increased as radiative and thermal ageing. The values of relaxation intensity calculated using Cole-Cole's circular arc can be useful for evaluation of degradation level of PEEK.
In order to study the dielectric properties of the oriental lacquer films, three different films have been prepared differing purification and curing procedures. Dielectric properties were measured in the frequency range of 1 Hz to 105 Hz at various temperatures between - 50 ℃ and 150 ℃. The DEA using 1 Hz showed that glass transition and secondary relaxation temperatures of oriental lacquer film are very time dependent. In addition, the frequency-independent negative peak between 25 ℃ and 45 ℃ was observed, which could represent the formation of crosslink by laccase enzyme during heating. On the contrary, the high temperature cured film showed a hardly noticeable negative peak at the temperature range. The relationship between thermodynamic properties and chemical structures has been discussed based on the analysis of the dielectric relaxation behavior using the Cole-Cole plot and the dielectric relaxation intensity.
Grains display characteristics of both elastic bodies and viscous fluids when they are subjected to mechanical treatments in harvesting, handling, and processing. This viscoelastic behavior of grains when mechanically stressed must be fully understood to establish maximum machine efficiency and have a minimum degree of grain damage and the highest quality of the final product. The studies were conducted to examine the effect of the moisture content, the loading rate and the initial deformation on the stress relaxation behavior of whole kernel of rough rice, and develop the rheological model to represent its stress relaxation behavior. The following results were obtained from the study. 1. Moisture content had the greatest influence on the initial portion of the relaxation curve. With elapsing time the lower moisture content resulted in the lower residual stress for the Japonica-type rough rice and vice versa for the Indica-type rough rice. But within the ranges of moisture content tested, the degree of stress relaxation per unit strain on the Indica-type rough rice was a little higher than those on the Japonica-type rough rice. 2. The slower loading rate resulted in less initial stress. The decreasing trend of residual stress for all the samples tested with increasing loading rate was shown. 3. The higher initial deformation for all the samples resulted in less initial stress. The increasing of amount of stress relaxation per unit strain with increase of initial stress indicated that viscoelastic properties of rough rice depended not only upon duration of load applied but also initial stress applied. This means that rough rice is nonlinear viscoelastic material. 4. The compression stress relaxation properties of rough rice kernel can be described by a generalized Maxwell model representing by the Maxwell elements.
