직업성 요통환자에서 재활 프로그램(Back School Program) 도입의 비용-편익분석 (Cost-Benefit Analysis of Back School Program for Occupational Low Back Pain Patients)

  • Although occupational low back pain accounts for $20\sim40%$ of all occupational illness and injury, there are limited numbers of studies regarding the effectiveness of back school program. The objective of this study was to evaluate the economic benefit of back school program for early return to work of occupational low back pain patients in the current occupational injury compensation and management system. The cost-benefit analysis in this study was conducted to evaluate the relative magnitude of benefit to cost. The total cost was estimated by calculating the value of components in back school program according to governmental budget protocol. The back school program was consisted of three major approaches, pain center, work-hardening program and funcional restoration program and each of components had various facilities and experts. The total amount of cost was estimated as 250,866,220 won per year. The most promising type of back school program were quite intensive (a 3 to 5-week stay in a specialized center), therefore, if we adopted the 5-week stay course, 10 courses could be held in a year. Following to the medical act, 20 patients per doctor could participate in a each course, ie, total 200 patients in a year. As a result, we could estimate the cost of 1,254,331 won a patient. We estimated the benefit by using data of a few local labor offices about average medical treatment beneficiary and off-duty beneficiary of 46 occupational low back pain patients in 1994. Ullman and Larsson (1977) mentioned that the group of chronic low back pain patients who participated in back school program needed less time to recover by 48.4% of beneficiary duration. And in the trying to estimate the benefit, we asked 10 rehabilitation board certificate doctors about reduction proportion of treatment cost by introducing back school program. The answered reduction proportions were in the range of $30\sim45%$, average 39%. As a final result, we could see that the introduction of back school program in treatment of chronic occupational low back pain patients could produce the benefit to cost ratio as 3.90 and 6.28. And we could conclude that the introduction of back school program was beneficial to current occupational injury compensation and management system.

자료포락분석(DEA) 기법을 활용한 도로이동오염원 저감대책의 효율성 분석 (Efficiency Evaluation of Mobile Emission Reduction Countermeasures Using Data Envelopment Analysis Approach)

  • 본 연구는 자료포락분석(Data Envelopment Analysis: DEA) 기법을 활용하여 도로이동오염원 저감대책의 상대적 효율성 평가와 그에 기반하여 우선순위를 결정하였다. 현재 시행 중이거나 장래 계획 가능한 도로이동오염원 저감 대책들을 근거로 실효성 높은 자동차 온실가스와 대기오염물질 저감 대책 10개를 선정하여 시나리오를 구성하였으며, 대기오염물질 4개(CO, HC, NOX, PM), 온실가스 3개($CO_2$, $CH_4$, $N_2O$)물질에 대해 장래 통행패턴을 고려한 교통수요예측모형과 가변적 복합배출계수를 활용하여 2027년도를 최종 목표년도로 저감량을 산정하였다. 저감 대책들 간의 상대적 효율성을 평가하기 위해 DEA모형 중 초효율성 분석을 수행한 결과, 승용차 요일제 참여 확대 대책이 효율성 점수 1.879로 가장 우선순위가 높은 저감대책으로 선정되었으며, 버스전용차로 확대, CNG버스 보급 대책의 효율성이 높은 것으로 분석되었다. 본 연구의 결과는 자동차 온실가스와 대기오염물질 저감대책 우선순위 선정 결정 시 절대적인 자료로 활용될 수는 없지만 저감대책의 방향성을 제시하고 있으므로 향후 자동차 배출량 저감 정책방향 설정 및 체계적인 중장기 저감대책 수립에 기여할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

Fuel Management in Ghana's Tropical Forests: Implications on Implementation Cost, Fuel Loading and Fire Behaviour

  • Fuel management can play enormous role in fire management in tropical dry forests. However, unlike the temperate forests, knowledge on implications of different fuel management methods in tropical forests is often inadequate. In this study, the implications of prescribed burning and hand thinning treatments on implementation cost, fuel loading and post-treatment fire behaviour were tested and compared in degraded forests and teak plantations in two forest reserves of different levels of dryness in Ghana. The study found that prescribed burning was less expensive (62.02 US Dollars ha-1) than hand thinning (95.37 US Dollars ha-1). The study also indicated that the two fuel management methods were able to reduce fuel loading in degraded forests and teak plantations. However, prescribed burning was more effective in reducing fuel loading than hand thinning. While the relative change of fuel reduction was 13% higher in prescribed burning than the hand thinning in degraded forest, it was 41% higher in prescribed burning than hand thinning in teak plantations. The fire behaviour of post-treatment experimental fire was also lower in prescribed burning than the hand thinning and control plots. Fuel management, therefore, has a great potential in fire management in degraded forests and teak plantations in Ghana.

  • In this paper, we study to evaluate the relative time required to perform the CT scanning in the PACS versus a film-based system and helical versus non-helical studies. Time studies were performed in 175 consecutive CT scanning. Images from 85 examinations were electronically transferred to a PACS, and 90 were printed to film. The time required to obtain and electronically transfer the images or print the images to film and make the current and previous studies available to the radiologists for interpretation was recorded. The time required for a radiological technologist to complete a CT test was reduced by 43% with the PACS compared with the film-based system and nonhelical was reduced 10~20% with helical studies. This reduction was due to the elimination of a transfer and printing, such as the printing at window or level settings. The use of PACS can result in the elimination of time tasks for the radiological technologist, resulting in marked reduction in examination time. This reduction can result in decreased cost and increased productivity in PACS operation.

스마트 건설기반 번들네일의 축응력 평가 (Axial Stress Evaluation of Bundle Nails in Smart Construction)

  • 현재 국내외적으로 토사사면의 사면안정을 위해 사용하고 있는 일반 Soil Nailing은 지반을 천공 후 단일 철근을 활용, 그라우팅하여 일종의 중력식 옹벽을 형성하여 사면의 안정을 도모하고 있다. 이러한 공법을 공사비 절감과 시공의 용이성, 상대적인 강도와 변위면에서 우수한 효율을 낼 수 있는 공법이다. 동일한 공종으로 진행하되 단일 철근을 다발철근으로 변경하여 활용할 경우 항복 인발력에 대한 그라우팅과 철근의 부착력 차이, 동일한 인발저항 대비 변형량의 차이를 현장시험을 통해 분석하여 공학적 우수성을 규명하고 공사비 측면에서 강도정수가 동일한 지반에 대하여 저항력이 동일하게 적용할 경우, 천공수의 차이와 재료비 등 전체 공사비에 미치는 영향분석을 통해 절감효과의 비교를 분석하여 평가하였다.

Lagrangian-Eulerian 기법을 이용한 고압 디젤 분무 시뮬레이션의 수치해석격자 의존성 저감에 관한 연구 (Reduction of a Numerical Grid Dependency in High-pressure Diesel Injection Simulation Using the Lagrangian-Eulerian CFD Method)

  • In the standard CFD code, Lagrangian-Eulerian method is very popular to simulate the liquid spray penetrating into gaseous phase. Though this method can give a simple solution and low computational cost, it have been reported that the Lagrangian spray models have numerical grid dependency, resulting in serious numerical errors. Many researches have shown the grid dependency arise from two sources. The first is due to unaccurate prediction of the droplet-gas relative velocity, and the second is that the probability of binary droplet collision is dependent on the grid resolution. In order to solve the grid dependency problem, the improved spray models are implemented in the KIVA-3V code in this study. For reducing the errors in predicting the relative velocity, the momentum gain from the gaseous phase to liquid particles were resolved according to the gas-jet theory. In addition, the advanced algorithm of the droplet collision modeling which surmounts the grid dependency problem was applied. Then, in order to validate the improved spray model, the computation is compared to the experimental results. By simultaneously regarding the momentum coupling and the droplet collision modeling, successful reduction of the numerical grid dependency could be accomplished in the simulation of the high-pressure injection diesel spray.

Fabrication of NiS Thin Films as Counter Electrodes for Dye-Sensitized Solar Cells using Atomic Layer Deposition

  • Dye-sensitized solar cells (DSCs) are promising candidates for light-to-energy conversion devices due to their low-cost, easy fabrication and relative high conversion efficiency. An important component of DSCs is counter electrode (CE) collect electrons from external circuit and reduct I3- to I-. The conventional CEs are thermally decomposed Pt on fluorine-doped tin oxide (FTO) glass substrates, which have shown excellent performance and stability. However, Pt is not suitable in terms of cost effect. In this report, we demonstrated that nickel sulfide thin films by atomic layer deposition (ALD)-using Nickel(1-dimethylamino-2-methyl-2-butanolate)2 and hydrogen sulfide at low temperatures of $90-200^{\circ}C$-could be good CEs in DSCs. Notably, ALD allows the thin films to grow with good reproducibility, precise thickness control and excellent conformality at the angstrom or monolayer level. The nickel sulfide films were characterized using X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, hall measurements and cyclic voltammetry. The ALD grown nickel sulfide thin films showed high catalytic activity for the reduction of I3- to I- in DSC. The DSCs with the ALD-grown nickel sulfide thin films as CEs showed the solar cell efficiency of 7.12% which is comparable to that of the DSC with conventional Pt coated counter electrode (7.63%).

Improvement on optimal design of dynamic absorber for enhancing seismic performance of nuclear piping using adaptive Kriging method

  • For improving the seismic performance of the nuclear power plant (NPP) piping system, attempts have been made to apply a dynamic absorber (DA). However, the current piping DA design method is limited because it cannot provide the globally optimum values for the target design seismic loading. Therefore, this study proposes a seismic time history analysis-based DA optimal design method for piping. To this end, the Kriging approach is introduced to reduce the numerical cost required for seismic time history analyses. The appropriate design of the experiment method is used to increase the efficiency in securing response data. A gradient-based method is used to efficiently deal with the multi-dimensional unconstrained optimization problem of the DA optimal design. As a result, the proposed method showed an excellent response reduction effect in several responses compared to other optimal design methods. The proposed method showed that the average response reduction rate was about 9% less at the maximum acceleration, about 5% less at the maximum value of the response spectrum, about 9% less at the maximum relative displacement, and about 4% less at the maximum combined stress compared to existing optimal design methods. Therefore, the proposed method enables an effective optimal DA design method for mitigating seismic response in NPP piping in the future.

메인 메모리를 위한 효율적인 공간 인덱스 구조 (An Efficient Spatial Index Structure for Main Memory)

  • 최근 실시간 서비스의 요구 사항을 갖는 위치 기반 서비스와 텔레매틱스 서비스를 효율적으로 제공하기 위해서 공간 메인메모리 DBMS에 대한 관심이 급증하고 있다. 이러한 공간 메인 메모리 DBMS에서 기존의 디스크 기반 공간 인데스들을 메인 메모리에 최적화하기 위해 엔트리 크기를 줄여 캐시 접근 실패를 최소화한 공간 인덱스 구조들이 제안되고 있다. 그러나 엔트리 크기를 줄이기 위하여 부모 노드의 MBR을 기준으로 압축하거나 중복된 MBR을 제거하기 때문에 인덱스 갱신 시 MBR 재구성 비용이 증가하고 인덱스 검색 시 효율이 떨어지는 문제점이 있다. 본 논문에서는 MBR 재구성 비용을 줄이기 위하여 넓은 분포의 경우와 좁은 분포의 경우로 나누어 압축 기준점을 다르게 적용하는 RSMBR(Relative-Sized MBR)압축 기법을 제시하였다. RSMBR 압축 기법은 넓은 분포일 경우 부모 노드 확장 MBR의 좌하점을 기준으로 압축하고, 좁은 분포일 경우 전체 MBR을 일정 크기의 셀로 나누고 각 셀의 좌하점을 기준으로 압축한다. 또한 인덱스 검색 시 검색 비용을 줄이기 위하여 상대 좌표와 크기를 이용하여 MBR을 압축한다. 마지막으로, 본 논문에서는 실제 데이타를 통한 성능 평가를 수행하여 RSMBR 압축 기법의 우수성도 입증하였다.
