Objectives: The objective of this study is to analyze the relationship among self-esteem, optimism, and smart phone addiction of middle school students and examine the variables on smart phone addiction. Methods: Data were collected by questionnaires from 475 middle school students in U city. To analyze the sample survey data, descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, duncan test and multiple regression analysis were performed with SPSS/WIN 15.0. Results: There were statistically significant differences among general characteristics sex, grade, school record, satisfaction with school life, economic state, romantic relationship, the period of smart phone usage, and smart phone usage fee with smart phone addiction. Also, there were significant negative relationships between self-esteem and optimism. Significant factors that affect smart phone addiction in middle school students were sex, self esteem, smart phone usage fee. These variables explained 10.8% of smart phone addiction. Conclusions: The results of this study reveal that the significant factors of smart phone addiction are sex and self-esteem. This study indicates that it is important to develop self esteem promotion programs that focus on sex trait in order to prevent smart phone addiction on adolescents.

Background: Stage at diagnosis is one of the most important prognostic factors of breast cancer survival. Because in the breast cancer case this may vary with socioeconomic characteristics, this study was performed to recognize the relationship between demographic and socioeconomic factors with stage at diagnosis in Iran. Materials and Methods: This cross-sectional, descriptive study conducted on 526 patients suffering from breast cancer and registered in Cancer Research Center of Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences from 2008 to 2013. A reliable and valid questionnaire about family levels of socioeconomic status filled in by interviewing the patients via phone. For analyzing the data, Multinomial logistic regression, Kendal tau-b correlation coefficient and Contingency Coefficient tests were executed by SPSS22. Economic status, educational attainment of patient and household head and/or a combination of these were considered as parameters for socioeconomic status. First, the relationship between stage at diagnosis and demographic and socioeconomic status was assessed in univariate analysis then these relationships assessed in two different models of multinomial logistic regression. Results: The mean age of the patients was 48.3 (SD=11.4). According to the results of this study, there were significant relationships between stage at diagnosis of breast cancer with patient education (p=0.011), living place (p=0.044) and combined socioeconomic status (p=0.024). These relationships persisted in multiple multinomial logistic regressions. Other variables, however, had no significant correlation. Conclusions: Patient education, combined socioeconomic status and living place are important variables in stage at diagnosis of breast cancer in Iranian women. Interventions have to be applied with the aim of raising women's accessibility to diagnostic and medical facilities and also awareness in order to reducing delay in referring. In addition, covering breast cancer screening services by insurance is recommended.
Increased consensus among gerontologists exist on the need to pay greater attention to the reciprocal relationship between the social and spatial in order to understand the construction of aged identity and everyday lives of old people. With urbanization, spaces are increasingly age-graded and as a consequence, urban elders are socially isolated from the community. In this study, we examine the social interaction patterns in various places specifically designated for the elderly, such as the Senior Center, Senior Welfare Center, and Hall for the Aged in Seoul. Main purpose of this study is to understand everyday life experiences of space the elderly people residing in the city go through. Data were gathered through qualitative, case study method. Results show that such spaces were important sites for social interaction for urban elderly who lacked social spaces after retirement and active parenting role. Also, it was shown that each place presents different contexts for social interactions and certain components of social class differences existed. Heterogeneity within the participants of each place was also observed. Quite strong stereotypes about certain places were also observed among the urban elders. Based on these results, importance of developing a 'community perspective' in the study of old age is discussed.
This study aims to investigate on measuring the success of e-Learning. For this purpose, we proposed a research model that consists of e-Learning contents quality, e-Learning system quality, e-Lecturing quality, sense of e-Learning community factors as independent factors and e-Learning and e-Learning satisfaction as mediators and tested it empirically based on the structural equation model. The empirical results showed that e-Learning contents quality, e-Learning system quality, sense of e-Learning community factors directly lead to e-Learning. The study also found that e-Learning contents quality, e-Lecturing quality, sense of e-Learning community factors bring about higher e-Learning satisfaction and that e-Learning satisfaction has a positive impact on e-Learning. Furthermore, the research discovered that both e-Learning and e-Learning satisfaction have a significant relationship with e-Learning net benefits. This research renders its theoretical contribution to analyzing a positive influence of sense of e-Learning community, a newly suggested variable added to the existing IS success model in this study, on e-Learning. From a practical view, the findings of this study can lead to improving the quality of e-Learning in today's era where the growth of e-Learning industry is quite noticeable.
In apartment complexes of Korea shared space becomes more and more important since it promotes social relationship among neighbors and also as a ecological point of view. After the Green Building system was introduced in the society, it attracted more attentive as an essential component for sustainable community. Now, it's expected the shared space plan or the community center plan will be a hot issue in the society. Therefore, we could see an aspect of the gradual change related to housing culture in Korea and make a prediction how to develop the shared space as researching domestic leading studies about the 'shared space'. The purpose of this study is to identify the trend of academic achievement as shared spaces. 14 books and 43 studies are searched and each of them are divided into according to the subject. The concept of the shared space was introduced in a holistic moment and the design plans were presented in books in the early 1990's, and total community center it was introduced. The studies are naturally divided into 4 parts as time passed that are characteristics of the block planning in the complex, the needs of the shared space, the actual condition of the using shared space, and the case studies of the shared space. The shared spaces under the structure of the community center are expected to be developed in a more elaborate way to cope with increasingly well-being needs.
This study initially analyzes the meaning of Community-Based Residential Environment Improvement. A residential environment improvement factor was determined through an analysis of the function, components, Planning techniques of the community, the evaluation criteria of the residential environment, and through relative literature documenting plans for the adjustment of urban and housing environments. In terms of the methodological approach, decisions were made based on the results of an expert focus-group-interview, a goodness-of-fit test, and by using the analytic network decision-making method from which the correlation among items can be considered. Results of this analysis show that the, order of importance of factors for a community-based residential environment is as follows: interactional character, cognitive character, and locational character. Furthermore, the most important aspect for each of these factors are the neighbor-hood relationship in terms of the interactional character, common consciousness for the cognitive character and place for locational character. The results of this study can be used by linking them with questionnaire items for basic resident research when a residential environment improvement project or a plan for the adjustment of urban and housing environments is planned.
Objectives: The purpose of this study is to understand the relevance of chronic disease conditions and fall experience among people aged 65 and older. and use them as basic data to reduce the risk of falling. Methods: The study selected 26,122 men and 37,777 women aged 65 and over as final subjects of the study, using raw data from the Community Health Survey in 2015. The statistical analysis used SAS 9.4 USA. Results: About 20% of those aged 65 and older experienced a fall, with one in five elderly people experiencing a fall, and the ratio of men to women was 3:7, women higher than men. As the age grew, the lower the level of education, the more senior citizens who lived alone occurred falls. In addition, the incidence of falls was higher when the number of chronic diseases was more than three. The incidence of falls was 1.1-1.5 times higher depending on chronic diseases. Conclusion: The development of education and exercise programs for preventing fall of senior citizens aged 65 and older is required and further study is needed.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to find out the suicidal ideation rate of the elderly including individual and regional factors by sex. Methods: This is secondary analysis study that combines the data of the 2017 Community Health Survey with the e-indicator data set of the National Statistical Office, and a descriptive correlation study. Statistical analysis used hierarchical logistic regression by SAS 9.4. Results: The 11.5% of the elderly had suicidal ideation within the last year, and 18.4% in Chungnam is the highest. Individual characteristics include females, older people, lower education levels, no job or housewife, no spouse, less than seven hours of sleep per day on the average, low subjective health, high subjective stress, and the worse their economic conditions, the more they had suicide ideation. Considering regional characteristics, suicidal ideation tended to increase significantly as the number of hospital beds per 1,000 people and the rate of obesity was lower, the rate of stress perception was higher, and the odds value was small. When both individual and regional factors were considered, the model conformity of the suicidal ideation improved (ICC=0.0814). Conclusion: In order to lower the suicidal rate of the elderly, it seems that both individual and community factors need to be comprehensively approached from the stage of suicidal ideation in the community.
One of them is online community which is popular among this modern society. However, it is not appropriate to suggest that online community is solely for personal usage or solely for work-related usage. The usage of online community goes beyond only one purpose. On the other hand, our daily activities whether personal or work-related activities are usually accompanied with preconception ideas whether it is a fun activity or not. However, even with this preconception, individuals are still enjoying themselves while doing activities that are considered as boring or mundane. Furthermore, individuals are really into the activities that they forgot about their surrounding and found themselves being in flow while conducting these activities. Unfortunately, there is little research done in South Korea addressing this emotion related factors. Because of that, more research concerning emotion related factors need to be conducted to better understand users behavior especially in online environment. With regards to that concern, this research studied two distinct everyday activities which are studying and playing games in online community. It is expected that when an individual feels more enjoyable and feels more comfortable, it will be more likely for them to be more satisfied. This satisfaction will lead them to being in a flow state. Hence, this study proposed three hypotheses. In order to investigate these three hypotheses, studies were conducted in two stages. The first stage was conducted in order to derive the implicit knowledge about fun from the participants. The second stage was done by an empirical study. It was conducted with two sample groups. The first group is the study group and the second group is the play games group. There were asked a set of questionnaires related to their enjoyment, comfort, satisfaction and flow while conducting the relevant activity. The results showed that both groups reached the state of flow regardless whether they belong to the study group or play games group. Therefore, the preconception idea about an activity does not promote or prevent individuals from feeling enjoyment, feeling comfortable and achieve satisfaction while conducting those activities.
The proportion of the elderly in rural area(21.7%) is four times more than that of the urban area (5.4%) in Korea. With this rapid aging of the population in rural Korea there has been growing concern about the quality of life of rural elderly. Compare to urban elderly, rural elderly experience many disadvantages, especially in terms of limited offering of social/educational programs. Their social/educational needs are rarely assessed and there are few programs geared to the needs of rural elderly. In this regard, this study aims (1) to identify education and activity program needs of the rural elderly related to three dimensions: Family life, Farming life, and Community activities and (2) to develop education and activity programs for the rural elderly based on the needs assessment. For this purpose, data are gathered from 413 rural elderly and 110 community welfare specialists, using a structured questionaire. The statistical methods used for data analysis are descriptive statistics, cross tables with SPSS wins 10.0 program. The major findings of this study are as follows: Majority(94.1%) of the rural elderly wants to participate in diverse social/educational programs. They want to have programs dealing with 'relationship enhancement with children', 'nutrition', 'health and care', 'farming skill', 'gardening', 'volunteering', etc. Based on these results, we develop eight types of education program and four types of activity program, according to the priority of their needs in each dimension. There are four sessions of Family life program, and four sessions of Community activities program. The effect of these programs will be evaluated by taking pretest and protest in local basis.
