  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship between the spectator experience and satisfaction with a focus on attachment and a sense of community. The survey was given to random spectators who watched KBO (The Korea Baseball Organization) games in 2018. With 189 surveyed participants, this study used exploratory factor analysis and reliability analysis to verify the reliability and validity of the measured variables. The hierarchical multiple regression correlation was employed as a statistical method for the hypotheses of this study. The findings showed that spectators' experiences have influences on satisfaction. Among the experience factors, education and entertainment affect attachment, and education has the only significant influence on a sense of community. In addition, spectators' attachment and a sense of community positively influence satisfaction. Attachment and a sense of community have a relatively mediated effect on spectators' experiences and satisfaction. This study confirmed the need for various spectator experiences at KBO games, and the importance of place attachment or a sense of community.

  • This qualitative case study focused on two types of livable, family-friendly communities and their activities. The landscaping, the community library, and the Dongbu Apartment Residents' Committee were examined in relationship to the everyday lives of the community's residents through observation and an in-depth interview. The experiences and thoughts of two representatives and four volunteers were described in detail. This study implies the importance of activity as well as a visible effort to improve quality of life. Further, it implies the necessity of a long-tenn perspective and commitment to developing a livable community base with strategies consistent with integrity and the values of everyday life. Above all, we researchers emphasize the most important factor of the livable community is the third sector; a public space based on everyday life located between a structurally separate work space and family space.

  • This study examined how the resources from work, family and community lowered family-to-work conflict (FWC) and enhanced family-to-work facilitation (FWF) of employed women with a child younger than 18 years old in order to provide empirical support for the Korean government's effort to create a family-friendly community as a way to help employed mothers balance work and family life. Information from 608 employed mothers living in 45 different communities were extracted from the 4th-wave of the Korean Longitudinal Survey of Women and Families in 2012, while community resources indicators were selected from the 2012 database of the Korean Statistical Information Service. Findings from the HLM analysis were as follows. First, there were significant variation in FWC and FWF among employed mothers depending on the communities they resided in. Second, work satisfaction, representative of work resource, relieved FWC and enhanced FWF, but spousal support, which represents family resource, affected neither FWC nor FWF. Third, community resources, as represented by family-friendly environment and frequent volunteering by community residents, lowered FWC but failed to enhance FWF. Lastly, family-friendly community resources served to mitigate the negative relationship between work satisfaction and FWC. This study is meaningful in that it provided empirical evidence for the contribution of community resources to work-family balance of employed mothers.

  • The deciduous shrubs, Lindera sericea belonging to family Lauracea are distributed in Mt. Chogye and Mudeung locally. To estimate the community structure of this shrub, the relationship between the floristic composition and environmental factors of 20 sites in Mt. Chogye were investigated. L. sericea community distributed at the hum양 zone of altitude 305-480 m in ES and NE slope of $15~30^{\circ}$. The floristic composition of this communities consisted of 17-32 species varied with sites. Sasa borealis, Sapium japonicum, and Quercus serrata were the constant species over 90%. The forest vegetation was classified as Sasa borealis-Lindera sericea community, and the Sasa borealis-Meliosma oldhamii, and Sasa borealis-Callicarpa japonica were as subunit community. Acidity, organic matter content, inorganic phophate, potassium, calcium, magnesium, cation exchange capacity and conductivity were determined as environmental factors. Diameter of stem at ground surface and stem, distribution area and growth property of this plant were investigated, and this plant was presumed to be a relic endemic species.

  • Purpose: This study was done to investigate the relationship of family function, self-esteem, life satisfaction, and general characteristics to loneliness in community dwelling Korean elders and identify factors affecting loneliness. Method: With a cross-sectional causal-relationship design and a convenience sample, 205 elders residing in three districts of the city of Seoul, S. Korea were recruited. Participants were assessed using the Family APGAR Score, Self-Esteem Scale, Life-Satisfaction Scale, and Revised UCLA Loneliness Scale. Results: The mean score for degree of loneliness (Mean=39.61, SD=10.09) was just below the mean for the scale (Possible range 20-80). Loneliness had significant negative correlations with family function (r= -.400, p<.001), self-esteem (r= -.399, p<.001), and life satisfaction (r= -.644, p<.001). Other general characteristics that had significant or nearly significant relationships with loneliness were perceived current financial and health status, whether doing any exercise or physical activities, degree of close relationship with family members, and length of living in current residence. Among variables, life satisfaction (Standardized ${\beta}\;=\;-.589$, p<.001) and length of living in current residence (Standardized ${\beta}\;=\;-.136$, p<.05) significantly predicted degree of loneliness. Conclusion: Findings of this study allow a comprehensive understanding of loneliness and related factors among community dwelling elders in Korea. However, further studies with a larger random sample from various living environments are necessary.

  • Purpose: This study aimed to describe and identify the relationship between gait and contracted ratios of the transverse abdominal (TrA), internal oblique (IO), and external oblique (EO) muscles. Methods: This study was conducted on 50 elderly people. The contracted ratios of the lateral abdominal muscles (LAM) were measured using the abdominal drawing-in maneuver (ADIM) and ultrasonographic imaging. Gait was measured using the timed up and go test and the 10 m walk test. Results: The contracted ratios of the TrA and IO muscles significantly increased after ADIM. Those of the TrA muscles showed a significant correlation with gait in the limited community ambulatory group. The contracted ratios of the IO and EO muscles showed a significant correlation with gait in the community ambulatory group. Conclusion: Our findings suggest a specific training on the relationship between gait speed and the activation of the LAM in elderly people.

  • In the planning process, there are five directions to planning residential sites. Firstly, the site must be planned to allow continuity with the city space, or created to conform to the city structure. Secondly, plans for community space and programs as well as convenience facilities must coexist in the road space. Thirdly, in terms of view, the site must be planned in territories to secure identity of the site. Fourthly, in terms of the environment, the site should utilize the natural environment. Lastly, in terms of infrastructure, the site should include a pedestrian-centered road system as well as establishing city infrastructure facilities for a combined planning in the municipal dimension. So far we have looked at planning methods for an apartment site that can be integrated into the existing city. The study into five elements to planning a large-scale apartment site, context, community, landscape, environment and infrastructure, and their relationship among each other must continue on.
