To evaluate the bonding performance of reinforced glulam, the textile type of glass fiber and aramid fiber, and the sheet type of glass fiber reinforced plastic (GFRP) and carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) were used as reinforcements. The reinforced glulam was manufactured by inserting reinforcement between the outmost and middle lamination of 5ply glulam. The types of adhesives used in this study were polyvinyl acetate resins (MPU500H, and MPU600H), polyurethane resin and resorcinol resin. The block shear strengths of the textile type in glass fiber reinforced glulam using MPU500H and resorcinol resin were higher than 7.1 N/$mm^2$, and these glulams passed the wood failure requirement of Korean standards (KS). In case of the sheet types, GFRP reinforced glulams using MPU500H, polyurethane resin and resorcinol resin, and CFRP reinforced glulams using MPU500H and polyurethane resin passed the requirement of KS. The textile type of glass fiber reinforced glulam using resorcinol resin after water and boiling water soaking passed the delamination requirement of KS. The only GFRP reinforced glulam using MPU500H after water soaking passed the delamination requirement of KS. We conclude that the bonding properties of adhesive according to reinforcements are one of the prime factors to determine the bonding performance of the reinforced glulam.
As increasing number of adult patients, the esthetic orthodontic appliances are needed. They are tooth-colored or translucent ceramic and resin brackets. Although ceramic and resin bracket have good esthetics, there are some disadvantage such as frictions. Recently, metal-reinforced resin bracket(MRBB) were introduced. The purpose of this study is to find frictional force of MRRB, ceramic bracket and resin brackets. There is few study in frictional force about metal reinforced resin bracket(MRRB). This study used 4 orthodontic wire(.016 S-S, .0l6X.022 S-S, .016 $TMA^{\circledR}$, .0l7X.025 $TMA^{\circledR}$ and 5 brackets(one metal bracket, one ceramic bracket, one resin bracket, two MRRB). The following result is obtained using metal bracket(Ormco.Co., U.S.A), ceramic brackets($Crystalline^{\circledR}$), resin bracket( Clear Medium $Siamase^{\circledR}$). Following conclusions are obtained. 1. Ceramic and resin bracket have significantly more frictional forces than metal reinforced resin bracket and metal bracket. 2. There is no significant difference in frictional force according to the slot types of metal - reinforced resin brackets. 3. There is no significant difference in frictional force between metal reinforced resin bracket and metal bracket. 4.. Frictional force is decreased in S-S wire than TMA wire.

For the purpose of development of polyurethane sealing material, polyurethane resins reinforced with CuO were prepared from polyol and MOAC(4,4'-Methylenebis(2-chlorobenzeneamine)). And the effects of compositions on the mechanical properties of the reinforced polyurethane resin were experimentally examined. The polyurethane resin got to be thermally decomposed at $260^{\circ}C$ and completely carbonized around $500^{\circ}C$. Tensile strength, elongation and hardness of the polyurethane resin increased with the content of MOCA. CuO was uniformly dispersed in the polyurethane resin by 1 minute's ultrasonic radiation. Tensile strength, elongation and hardness of the polyurethane resin reinforced with CuO increased with the content of CuO. Tensile strength and hardness of the reinforced polyurethane resin increased with particle size of the CuO, but elongation decreased. CuO showed higher tensile strength and hardness than any other additives, and lowest elongation.

Fiber reinforced metal laminates(FRMLs) were new type of hybrid materials. FRMLs consist of high strength metals(Al 5052-H34) and laminated fiber with structural adhesive bond. The effect of resin mixture ratios on the fatigue crack propagation behavior and mechanical properties of aramid fiber reinforced aluminum composites was investigated. The epoxy, diglycidylether of bisphenol A(DGEBA), was cured with methylene dianiline(MDA) with or without an accelerator(K-54). Eight kinds of resin mixture ratio were used for the experiment ; five kinds of FRMLs(1)(mixture of epoxy and curing agent) and three kinds of FRMLs(2)mixture of epoxy, curing agent and accelerator). The characteristic of fatigue crack propagation behavior and mechanical properties FRMLs(2) shows more effecting than that of FRMLs(1).

Results of an experimental study on the manufacture, the workability and mechanical properties of steel fiber reinforced polyester resin composites utilizing industrial waste products are presented in this paper. The fly ash polyester resin composites using steel fiber, fly ash and calcium carbonic acid (CaCo3), unsaturated polyester resin, styrene monomer, cobalt octate and methyl ethyl ketone peroxide, fine and coarse aggregates are prepared with various filler~binder rations, binder rates and mixing conditions. As a test results, the workability of steel fiber reinforced polyester resin composites are considerably dropped with increasing fly ash-binder ratio and steel fiber volume. And compressive, flexural strength and bending toughness of the composites are remarkably improved with augmenting fiber contents.

The objectives of this paper were to measure the bond strengths of reinforced concrete in which the steel rods were coated with five different kinds of anticorrosion paints, and to compare their prevention effects in salt water. The paints used in the study were epoxy resin I . II . III, Z.R. P., and silicone resin, which were applied at rates recommended by the manufacturers. The bond strengths were measured on the 7-, 14-, and 28-th days after molding. Corrosion conditions of coated steel plate under fresh water, seawater, 10 % salt water, and 20% salt water, were inspected every month during four months test peoriods, respectively. The results obtained from tests are summarized as follows: 1. Paint-coating may reduce the bond strengths of reinforced concrete. Silicone resin paint showed some 20% reduction in the strength compared to those without the paint. However, the other paints seemed not to significantly affect the strength. 2. Picture analyses showed that epoxy resin I and II significantly prevented corrosion steel plates in seawater. Epoxy resin I and silicone resin coating did not do a good job in corrosion prevention. Z.R. P. paint was found to be moderate as preventive coating paint. 3. Varying soluble salt contents had little effects on the corrosion prevention of tested paints. 4. Epoxy resin I and II were found to be appropriate as a coating material to prevent the corrosion of steel rods in seawater. Z.R.P. may also be used for the purpose.
The time to ignition, heat release rate characteristics and carbon monoxide yield of fiber reinforced and sandwich phenol resin were investigated with cone calorimeter. The fire characteristics of unsaturated polyester, mostly being applied to the existing passenger train, and phenolic resin were compared. Thermal gravimetric analysis(TGA) was used to monitor the degree of thermal decomposition for the phenolic resin. According to the cone calorimeter data, the time to ignition, heat release rate and CO yield was faster and higher as the external heat flux increase. Under the same heat flux, the time to ignition of sandwich type phenolic resin was shorter than that of fiber reinforced. The result of comparison between unsaturated polyester and phenolic resin was that phenolic resin was shown to have better fire resistance than that of unsaturated polyester.

Reinforced concrete is a building material that is generally used in modern society. Securing the performance of reinforced concrete is directly connected to the durability and longevity of the building. One of the major factors that deteriorate the durability of concrete is harmful ion. Recently, the quality and improvement method of reinforced concrete for penetration of harmful ion has been studied. In this study, the bead type ion exchange resin is substituted for 0%, 3%, and 6% of the fine aggregate volume in the mortar. The speciments underwent underwater curing and were checked for compressive strengths of 3 days and 28 days. From the results of compressive strength, it can be seen that the higher the substitution ratio of the ion exchange resin, the lower the early strength and long-term strength development, especially the early strength development.

This paper describes the electric properties of mica reinforced silicone composites with the parameter of curing condition of silicone resin, application amount of silane coupling agent to the mica paper and the mica wt% to the composite. Heat-resistant silicone resin and mica paper made of mica flakes are used to prepared the mica/silicone composite as matrix and filler, respectively. To improve the dielectric properties and interfacial adhesion between matrix and filler, silane coupling agent is applied on the mica paper. As for matrix, tan$\delta$ value of 30$0^{\circ}C$ heat-treated silicone resin is the lowest under 1%. The optimal wt% of coupling agent is 0.3% to the weight of mica paper. 80 wt% of mica as filler to the mica/silicone composite shows the best electric properties. And the mica reinforced silicone composite shows good high-frequency and mechanical tensile stress properties.
To improve the mechanical properties of fiber-reinforced polymer matrix composites, laminated composites plates were fabricated using different matrix resins and glass or aramid fibers. The effect of matrix resin system were evaluated by tensile, flexural strength measurements. In the case of surface treated aramid fiber and unsaturated polyester resin composite, maximum flexural properties were observed in the composite prepared from the glass fiber treated with 0.5 wt% silane coupling agents. Vinylester resin composites show the highest tensile properties and isophthalic polyester composites have the highest flexural properties among the unsaturated polyester resin composites studied. The relationship between overlap laminated composites plates and mechanical properties of polymer composites is also investigated in order to improve mechanical properties of glass fiber and unsaturated polyester resin composites.
