Regression testing is a very costly process performed primarily as a software maintenance activity. It is the process of retesting the modified parts of the software and ensuring that no new errors have been introduced into previously tested source code due to these modifications. A regression test selection technique selects an appropriate number of test cases from a test suite that might expose a fault in the modified program. In this paper, we propose both a regression test selection and prioritization technique. We implemented our regression test selection technique and demonstrated in two case studies that our technique is effective regarding selecting and prioritizing test cases. The results show that our technique may significantly reduce the number of test cases and thus the cost and resources for performing regression testing on modified software.

This study suggests a frequency matrix technique to predict personal credit rate more efficiently using incomplete data sets. At first this study test on multiple discriminant analysis and logistic regression analysis for predicting personal credit rate with incomplete data sets. Missing values are predicted with mean imputation method and regression imputation method here. An artificial neural network and frequency matrix technique are also tested on their performance in predicting personal credit rating. A data set of 8,234 customers in 2004 on personal credit information of Bank A are collected for the test. The performance of frequency matrix technique is compared with that of other methods. The results from the experiments show that the performance of frequency matrix technique is superior to that of all other models such as MDA-mean, Logit-mean, MDA-regression, Logit-regression, and artificial neural networks.

Quantile regression investigates the quantiles of the conditional distribution of a response variable given a set of covariates. M-quantile regression extends this idea by a "quantile-like" generalization of regression based on influence functions. In this paper we propose a new method of estimating M-quantile regression functions, which uses kernel machine technique. Simulation studies are presented that show the finite sample properties of the proposed M-quantile regression.
Regularlization approach to regression can be easily found in Statistics and Information Science literature. The technique of regularlization was introduced as a way of controlling the smoothness properties of regression function. In this paper, we have presented a new method to evaluate linear and non-linear fuzzy regression model based on Tanaka's model using the idea of regularlization technique. Especially this method is a very attractive approach to model non -linear fuzzy data.

In this paper, twicing technique for the improvement of asymptotic boundary bias in nonparametric regression is considered. Asymptotic mean squared errors of the nonparametric regression estimators are derived at the boundary region by twicing the Nadaraya-Waston and local linear smoothing. Asymptotic biases of the resulting estimators are of order$h^2$and$h^4$ respectively.
Correlation is a technique used to measure the strength or the degree of closeness of the linear association between two quantitative variables. Common misuses of this technique are highlighted. Linear regression is a technique used to identify a relationship between two continuous variables in mathematical equations, which could be used for comparison or estimation purposes. Specifically, regression analysis can provide answers for questions such as how much does one variable change for a given change in the other, how accurately can the value of one variable be predicted from the knowledge of the other. Regression does not give any indication of how good the association is while correlation provides a measure of how well a least-squares regression line fits the given set of data. The better the correlation, the closer the data points are to the regression line. In this tutorial article, the process of obtaining a linear regression relationship for a given set of bivariate data was described. The least square method to obtain the line which minimizes the total error between the data points and the regression line was employed and illustrated. The coefficient of determination, the ratio of the explained variation of the values of the independent variable to total variation, was described. Finally, the process of calculating confidence and prediction interval was reviewed and demonstrated.
Software maintenance is one of the major activities of the software development life cycle. Due to the time and cost constraint it is not possible to perform exhaustive regression testing. Thus, there is a need for a technique that selects and prioritizes the effective and important test cases so that the testing effort is reduced. In an analogous study we have proposed a new variable based algorithm that works on variables using the hybrid technique. However, in the real world the programs consist of multiple modules. Hence, in this work we propose a regression testing algorithm that works on interprocedural programs. In order to validate and analyze this technique we have used various programs. The result shows that the performance and accuracy of this technique is very high.
Ventilation rates can be measured directly by a tracer decay method, although little is known of the effects of different sampling intervals on decay rte calculations. This study determined variations in decay rates calculated by three techniques using residential ozone decay data. The calculation techniques were a regression technique, decay techniques using half-life and average-life, and finite difference techniques using two different time intervals. Variation associated with regression technique calculations for residential ozone decay rates based on data from both sample intervals were within 10% (2.81$\pm$1.88 hr-1). However, both half-life and finite difference technique calculations using a shorter-time interval were significantly different from those obtained with the regression technique(p<0.05). Therefore, the use of short sampling intervals in tracer decay may cause significant error in decay rate calculations.

Artificial intelligence has emerged as the core of the 4th industrial revolution, and large amounts of data processing, such as big data technology and rapid data analysis, are inevitable. The most fundamental and universal data interpretation technique is an analysis of information through regression, which is also the basis of machine learning. Ridge regression is a technique of regression that decreases sensitivity to unique or outlier information. The time-consuming calculation portion of the matrix computation, however, basically includes the introduction of an inverse matrix. As the size of the matrix expands, the matrix solution method becomes a major challenge. In this paper, a new algorithm is introduced to enhance the speed of ridge regression estimator calculation through series expansion and computation recycle without adopting an inverse matrix in the calculation process or other factorization methods. In addition, the performances of the proposed algorithm and the existing algorithm were compared according to the matrix size. Overall, excellent speed-up of the proposed algorithm with good accuracy was demonstrated.
