  • It is necessary to register precisely Digital Elevation Model (DEM) generated from SPOT -5 stereo images in order to monitor the topographic and environmental changes of important topographic features such as Mt. Baekdu. The SPOT-5 DEM is registered taking SRTM DEM as a reference DEM. If SPOT-5 DEM is transformed with single 3D rigid equation, it has many errors. Therefore, this study extracted uniformly ground control points over study area and estimated locally adapted transformation equation. The accuracy of proposed method was evaluated with comparison to scale-based and GCP-based transformation method.

  • In this paper, we propose a content-based face retrieval system which can retrieve a face based on a facial feature region. Instead of using keyword such as a resident registration number or name for a query, the our system uses a facial image as a visual query. That is, we recognize a face based on a specific feature region including eyes, nose, and mouth. For this, we extract the feature region using the color information based on HSI color model and the edge information from wavelet transformed image, and then recognize the feature region using neural network. The proposed system is implemented on client/server environment based on Oracle DBMS for a large facial image database. In the experiment with 150 various facial images, the proposed method showed about 88.3% recognition rate.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to follow-up the frailty of the old who received home health care by Registered Nurse in Public Health Center over 8 years. Methods: We used the second wave data which was a comprehensive longitudinal data set, Public Health Information System of a public health center located in Seoul from 2010 to 2018. For statistical analysis, a mixed model of repeated measures by R program was used. Results: Frailty (range: 0~31) was getting worse significantly from 5.38 on registration to 6.54 on 4th year, 7.40 on 7th year, 7.69 on 8th year with adjustment for age, sex, economic status, the number of family, and the number diseases. The coefficient of parameters with frailty change was serviced year (β=0.29, p<.001), age (70~79 to 60~69; β=0.98, p=.018) and sex (female to male; β=2.55, p<.001). Conclusion: This study showed that the home visiting health service needs to take attention to aged 70s and over, female. The home health care of public health center need to be extended more practical and effective services in terms of 'community care'and 'ageing in place'.

  • This paper aims at developing a prediction model and analyzing a sensitivity for the outpatient's overall satisfaction on utilizing hospital services by using data mining techniques within the context of customer satisfaction. From a total of 900 outpatient cases, 80 percent were randomly selected as the training group and the other 20 percent as the validation group. Cases in the training group were used in the development of the CHAID and Neural Networks. The validation group was used to test the performance of these models. The major findings may be summarized as follows: the CHAID provided six useful predictors - satisfaction with treatment level, satisfaction with healthcare facilities and equipments, satisfaction with registration service, awareness of hospital reputation, satisfaction with staffs courtesy and responsiveness, and satisfaction with nurses kindness. The prediction accuracy rates based on MLP (77.90%) is superior to RBF (76.80%).

  • This study shows trends and age-sex patterns of mortality in Korea, based on adjusted death registration data during 1956∼1980. Description on the data-the types of errors and their methods of adjustment-are presented elsewhere (Kim, 1986). Crude death rates have declined in 20 years to 7.0 in 1976∼1980, almost half the level of 13.0 in 1956∼1960. Mortality of females declined faster than males, especially at older ages. Substantial differences in provincial mortality are observed based on the expectation of life at birth. The difference between the highest and the lowest provinces is 9.2 years for males and 8.3 years for females during 1976∼1980. This study presents two interesting features of age-sex patterns of mortality in Korea. One feature is higher female mortality than males during childhood periods. However, infant mortality is higher for males than for females throughout the period, though the difference is much smaller than is expected from various model life tables. Another feature is the rapid rise in mortality for males after age 40. This pattern is found to be existed throughout the period 1956∼1980. Further studies are recommended to establish its causal linkage to traditional sex role (as main bread winner) and health behavior (smoking and drinking) of males and recent rapid industrialization in Korea.

  • In this study, we proposed ameliorated method for region of interest (ROI) study to improve its accuracy using partial volume effect (PVE). PVE which arose in volumetric images when more than one tissue type occur in a voxel, could be used to reduce an amount of gray matter and cerebrospinal fluid within ROI of diffusion tensor image (DTI). In order to define ROIs, individual b0 image was spatially aligned to the JHU DTI-based atlas using linear and non-linear registration (http://cmrm.med.jhmi.edu/). Fractional anisotropy (FA) and mean diffusivity (MD) maps were estimated by fitting diffusion tensor model to each image voxel, and their mean values were computed within each ROI with PVE threshold. Participants of this study consisted of 20 healthy controls, 27 Alzheimer's disease and 27 normal-pressure hydrocephalus patients. The result showed that the mean FA and MD of each ROI were increased and decreased respectively, but standard deviation was significantly decreased when PVE was applied. In conclusion, the proposed method suggested that PVE was indispensable to improve an accuracy of DTI ROI study.

  • The systematic management of research data is vital because it increases research data's value for research reproduction, verification, and reusability. Standard metadata will play a key role in research data registration, management, and data extraction. Research data has various structural relationships, such as research, research data, data sets, and files, and associated with entities such as citations and research results. The study proposes an ontology model for research data management. It also suggests the application of ontology to NTIS. Previous studies, metadata standard analyses, and research data repository case studies were conducted.

  • As the IT environment changes with cloud computing and smart work, the existing perimeter security model is showing its limitations and Software Defined Perimeter is being discussed as an alternative. However, SDP Spec 1.0 does not specify the device registration procedure, policy distribution process and authentication key generation and sharing process. In this paper, we propose a method to solve the problem of SDP access control by improving the operation procedure of Single Packet Authentication. This paper suggests that the proposed method can implement a consistent and automated integrated access control policy compared to the existing access control methods.

  • Building reconstruction attempts to generate geometric and radiometric models of existing buildings usually from sensory data, which have been traditionally aerial or satellite images, more recently airborne LIDAR data, or the combination of these data. Extensive studies on building reconstruction from these data have developed some competitive algorithms with reasonable performance and some degree of automation. Nevertheless, the level of details and completeness of the reconstructed building models often cannot reach the high standards that is now or will be required by various applications in future. Hence, the use of terrestrial sensory data that can provide higher resolution and more complete coverage has been intensively emphasized. We developed a fusion framework for building reconstruction from terrestrial sensory data, that is, points from a laser scanner, images from digital camera, and absolute coordinates from a total station. The proposed approach was then applied to reconstructing a building model from real data sets acquired from a large complex existing building. Based on the experimental results, we assured that the proposed approach cam achieve high resolution and accuracy in building reconstruction. The proposed approach can effectively contribute in developing an operational system producing large urban models for 3D GIS with reasonable resources.

  • Recently, public organizations have been improving the classification in order to introduce records management reference table in accordance with the act on the management of public archives. However, there is no system to mount the revised records management reference table, and there is a problem in usability. The purpose of this study is to design a system function to manage the classification which is the foundation of records management for public organizations. In order to design the function, interviews with the records management specialists of the five public organizations were conducted. Based on this, we have designed a multi-classification system registration function, a hierarchical structure setting function of records, and a record management standard management function.
