  • This paper examines the evolution issues of regional tourism resources in complicated and networked industry the perspective of co-evolution types and dualism. Regional tourism structure has been changing more and faster according to various attractions and internal and external environment; natural resources, facilities, festivals and events, drama and movies, and public resources, etc. This paper approaches Olikowski's dualism perspective as a theoretical view about the alliance network between region's attractions and tourism industry in Korea. Exploratory analysis was explained the dualism cases performed on the matrix between resource characteristics and alliance complexity on human resources based on regional tourism industry.

  • With the advent of the fourth industry, the need for office automation with automatic character recognition capabilities is increasing day by day. Therefore, in this paper, we study a character recognition algorithm that effectively recognizes a new experimental data character by using learning data characters. The proposed algorithm computes the degree of similarity that the structural regions of learning data characters match the corresponding regions of the experimental data character. It has been confirmed that satisfactory results can be obtained by selecting the learning data character with the highest degree of similarity in the matching process as the final recognition result for a given experimental data character.

  • To examine the problem structure of balanced regional development policy and identify the causes of the gap between the capital and non-capital areas, this study examined the causal structure in terms of the concentration and distribution of functions in the metropolitan area and non-capital area and explored the policy leverage. As a research method, the causal map was drawn using System Dynamics techniques and policy leverage was derived through an exploration of the feedback structure. In particular, the causes of the problems in balanced regional development policies were approached by system accidents rather than by single-circuit accidents, and causality analysis was performed among the variables constituting balanced regional development policies based on system accidents. In particular, it singled out 31 variables, developed 13 feedback loops, and confirmed four major policy leverages, including relocation of the capital function, local decentralization policies, consistent development, and investment practices centered on the NonCapital Area. Subsequently, a follow-up study by computer simulation is needed by modeling the structure of the system to identify the ripple effect of the policies of the Capital Area on the NonCapital Area.

  • This study intends to analyze the trip and transportation structure of Seoul Metropolitan Area(SMA) where has been experiencing the rapid growth and the extra-concentration in the recent 2∼3 decades. By analyzing the trip and transportation structure which reveals the frame of travel flow phenomena on the real space, this paper evaluates the transporation policy realized in SMA for the last 10∼15 years. The policy implications of this paper are as follows; 1. The activities and the daily travel movement of SMA have been larger and more complex rapidly, but the transportation policy bas been poor. 2. The distribution of commuter's origins and destinatinos have been getting wider, and the distance between the home and the workplace longer. In short, the land use policy, the industrial policy, and housing policy have failed, and the coordination of those policies has been very poor. 3. The multi-center spatial structure was the official policy. Indeed, SMA has been reorgnized in such a way. But the implementation strategy was very poor. 4. Now, the for-business travels closely related with the multi-center structure, are increasing more and more rapidly. It is required that the strategic policy of mulit-center structure and the transportation policy should be coordinated. And as soon as possible, the more powerful mass transit system should be developed and constructed.

  • In recent decades, the characteristics of natural hazard has been changed and the global cost of natural disasters has increased substantially. There are several trends in society and nature that suggest this pattern may continue, with more frequent mega-disasters occurring in the future. In particular, risk perception that is at odds with the "real" risk underlies the process of risk transference increases long-term vulnerability. Therefore investigating the correct risk transference and adjustments according to regional socio-economic structure can mitigate and reduce environmental, so called man-made hazard.

  • The objectives of the study are to identify the issues and problems encountered in Korea's current integrated rural regional development(IRRD) program and to suggest policy remedies to cope with them. Secondary data and materials ate mainly used for the study. Since the mid-1980s, rural settlement planning has been carried out in the Republic of Korea, In the planning process,'scale of economy'perspectives and settlement policy have been emphasized for increasing the efficiency of investment. During the 1990s, rural settlement and major village development projects have been implemented under the rural structure transformation programs. Agricultural structure adjustment projects for land consolidation and sizable farming have been separated from the rural settlement and mojor village development projects. Based on the evaluative analysis for the rural structure transformation policy and program, some problematic issues were raised as follows: (a) lack of integrative control function in the program'(b) weak linkage between living environment improvement and agricultural development projects: and (c) lack of comprehensive village development planning and implementation system. The policy issues to solve the problems were suggested as follows: (a) adoption of bottom-up approach in new IRRD planning and project system : (b) projection of comprehensive development planning and project at the village level; and (c) introduction of new regional agriculture development projects such as direct payment system for farming in less favorable areas and organic farming.

  • This paper aims to clarify the change in industrial structure and industry itself, and makes suggestions for the industrial development direction at transitional periods in the Chungcheongbuk-do(province) region. Because profits of regional gross production in Chungcheongbuk-do region flow out of the region, basic industries must be brought up. For this phenomenon, main manufacturing must be developed for the industrial power of the next generation of high added values that combined with digital industry; the petrochemistry, semiconductor industry as major type of industry, and automobile industry as minor type of industry. Also for supporting industry, education service, health and welfare, research and development services that are knowledge-based service industries in Chungcheongbuk-do region, must be formated the network among corporations and constructed regional innovation system linked with educational institutions, precision chemistry industry and biology technology as major type of industry, and precision machinery and tools industry as minor type of industry.

  • The bureaucrat-scholars, ruling class of the Choseon Dynasty, used to build small private pavilions for rest and study for themselves. In the early period of the Dynasty, the pavilions had plain shapes with rectangular plan and simple wooden structure without any walls so as to enjoy the surrounding scenery. From the 16th century, the building form began to change into some diverse one by putting in an ondol room, an unique floor heating equipment. The pavilions also began to show regional differences by placing the ondol rooms in the floor. Myonang-jong, a pavilion occupied by a famous bureaucrat-scholar Song Soon, was built at Damyang of the southwest part of the Korean peninsula, so called Honam area, in 1533. At first, the building form followed the ordinary early pavilion shape using simple wooden structure and wooden floor. But when it was rebuilt in 1654 after burning down by war, there happened some changes. An ondol room was put in the center of the floor, of which regarded as a dominant regional characteristic of the Honam area. The change of the building form of Myonang-jong showed that it was the 17th century Honam area got the regional characteristic in the architecture of pavilion.
