A systematic study of the structure, energetics and spectral characteristics of substituted aminoketenes $R(NH_2)$C=C=O (R = H, $CH_3$, $NH_2$, OH, $OCH_3$, CH=$CH_2$, C$\equiv$CH, CN, CHO, NO, $NO_2$) which are highly reactive and transient intermediates in synthesis has been conducted by ab initio calculations at the MP2/6- 31G*//MP2/6-31G* level. Twenty four stable isomers of the eleven substituted aminoketenes having dihedral angles $\phi NH_2\sim120{^{\circ}}$ and $60^{\circ}$ have been identified and their optimized geometries and energies obtained. Electrostatic and steric effects on the molecular geometries have been analyzed. While the $\pi$-acceptor groups lead to planar conformations, the electron-donor groups give rise to non-planar conformations. Isodesmic substituent stabilization energies relative to alkenes have been calculated and correlation with group electronegativities established. Role of induction effect by the substituent groups and resonance effects in charge distribution in the molecules has been analyzed. An analysis of the asymmetric stretching frequencies and intensities of the C=C=O group shows that affect of non-$\pi$ acceptor substituents on the frequency is determined by the field effect (F) and resonance effect (R) parameters, the calculated intensities I (km/mol.) are correlated to group electronegativities $x$ of the substituents by the relationship I = 640.2–100.1 $x$ (r = 0.92). The $\pi$-acceptor substituents increase the intensity which may be explained in terms of their delocalizing effect on the negative charge at the $C_{\beta}$ atom.
This study was carried out by using questionnaires with 126 insurance societies from Sept. 30, 1995 to Oct. 18, 1995. The primary data collected bythe survey have been significantly supplemented by secondary data obtained from sources such as health insurance statistical year books and internal data in the Ministry of Health and Wolfare. Major findings were summarized as follows: Two financial coordinating programs have significantly improved financial status of regional health insurance societies: the catastrophic program for high cost medical care that was initiated in 1991 and the program for hospitalization cost of the aged in 1995. Another finding is that there existed ambiguity and inconsistency of equity index that had been used by stabilization programs and its side effects could not be ignored. Regression analyses were made to identify factors that affect financial transfers. Inde pendent variables in the regression include utilization frequency, dependancy ration, insurance contribution per insured and medical expense per insured. All these variables were statistically significant in the equations of applying distribution rate (distribution/contribution) and transfer rate (transfer/contribution) as dependent variables. Policy suggestions for the catastrophic program for high cost medical care are modifying the definition of catastrophic case and setting the maximum amount of subsidies for each society based on distribution rates. To solve the problems of the financial coordinating program for the aged, we could consider reimbursing more than 50% of the copayment incurred by the aged 65 or more and determining the maximum amount of outpatient copayment at 10,000 Won per day or per visit for the elderly. More fundamental improvement could be made by amending the Welfare Benefit Act to establish and expand medical and welfare facilities for the elderly.
In this study, we analyzed the spatial and temporal distribution of wind resources over Korea based on hourly observational data recorded over a period of 5 years from 457 stations belonging to Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA). The surface and 850 hPa wind data obtained from the Korea Local Analysis and Prediction System (KLAPS) and the Regional Data Assimilation and Prediction System (RDAPS) over a period of 1 year are used as supplementary data sources. Wind speed is generally high over seashores, mountains, and islands. In 62 (13.5%) stations, mean wind speeds for 5 years are greater than $3ms^{-1}$. The effects of seasonal wind, land-sea breeze, and mountain-valley winds on wind resources over Korea are evaluated as follows: First, wind is weak during summer, particularly over the Sobaek Mountains. However, over the coastal region of the Gyeongnam-province, strong southwesterly winds are observed during summer owing to monsoon currents. Second, the wind speed decreases during night-time, particularly over the west coast, where the direction of the land breeze is opposite to that of the large-scale westerlies. Third, winds are not always strong over seashores and highly elevated areas. The wind speed is weaker over the seashore of the Gyeonggi-province than over the other seashores. High wind speed has been observed only at 5 stations out of the 22 high-altitude stations. Detailed information on the wind resources conditions at the 21 stations (15 inland stations and 6 island stations) with high wind speed in Korea, such as the mean wind speed, frequency of wind speed available (WSA) for electricity generation, shape and scale parameters of Weibull distribution, constancy of wind direction, and wind power density (WPD), have also been provided. Among total stations in Korea, the best possible wind resources for electricity generation are available at Gosan in Jeju Island (mean wind speed: $7.77ms^{-1}$, WSA: 92.6%, WPD: $683.9Wm^{-2}$) and at Mt. Gudeok in Busan (mean wind speed: $5.66ms^{-1}$, WSA: 91.0%, WPD: $215.7Wm^{-2}$).

According to dramatic increase of wireless communication demand, more spectrum resources are needed to support considerable and various wireless services, so cognitive radio(CR) was proposed to reuse unused frequency efficiently. Also, FCC revises its policies regarding the usage of the TV white spaces by unlicensed users. CR is an intelligent wireless communication system that is aware of the radio environment and is capable of adapting its operation to the statistical variations. Spectrum sensing is the key task of the CR systems. However, since spectrum sensing performance changes according to the received signal that is received various geography environment, regional characteristics are considered to estimate the path-loss. Therefore, for more accurate analysis and simulation, we demonstrate the spectrum sensing performance of CR system by various method applying Okumura-hata propagation model.

Background: This study compared risk factors for depression and suicidal ideas among cancer patients for comparison with the general population, and identified influencing factors. Materials and Methods: We analyzed data from 2,472 cancer patients in the National Cancer Center and nine Regional Cancer Centers and frequency-matched data for age and sex from 2,349 members of the general population who completed the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey in 2008. Logistic regression analysis was used to identify factors affecting depression and suicidal ideas. Results: Cancer patients were not likely to have more depression (OR=0.96, 95%CI=0.79-1.18) and were less likely to have suicidal ideas (OR=0.64, 95%CI=0.53-0.79) compared to the general population. Female sex, more stress, and lower quality of life were influencing factors. The additional risk factors for suicidal ideas among cancer patients included income (OR=0.62, 95%CI=0.43-0.91), smoking (OR=1.63, 95% CI=1.06-2.50), recurrence (OR=1.50, 95%CI=1.15-1.95), and chemotherapy (OR=1.66, 95%CI=1.26-2.19). Conclusions: No differences appeared in depression rates between cancer patients and the general population, and cancer patients were less likely to have suicidal ideas. However, cancer patients were likely to have more risk factors than the general population, and those classified as being at high risk of suicide should receive distress management and social economic support, from early in the treatment process.
Background : A report published by the National Institute of Toxicological Research (NITR) in January 2004 about toxic hepatitis in Korea contained the result of analysis on 55 cases of severe toxic hepatitis from 7 university hospitals for 8 months. NITR claimed that the extrapolated annual frequency of severe toxic hepatitis in Korea was 1904 cases per year. They also claimed that the most frequent etiology of severe toxic hepatitis were herbal medications and similar plant preparations (61.7%), contrasted with traditional therapeutic preparations and healthy foods (29.1%). I have investigated that report to be certain of the result because it is a very important subject for public health and society in Korea. Results : The NITR report has too many problems to have faith in its results. They include the following: 1. The report uses only 55 cases to estimate annual prevalence rate of severe toxic hepatitis in Korea. 2. There was a large regional preponderancy in the NITR report (2 cases in Seoul from a population of 10.17 million, 19 cases in Gwangju from a population of 1.4 million) 3. There was another preponderancy that selected much fewer cases caused by western medication (9.1%) than other reasons. 4. The NITR report used a modified scale than that officially recognized to diagnose toxic hepatitis. 5. There was a mistake using the scale to adapt the right indications. 6. They collected cases before beginning the study, although it was a prospective study. There was also not any questionnaire or other materials concerned with alcohol, drugs, or history of past liver disease. Conclusions : NITR is one of the important official arms of the government of Korea. Nevertheless, there is a severe problem in validity because of selection bias, uncertain accuracy, and insufficiency of raw materials in the report. Therefore it seems incorrect to generalize the results of the report and there is a lack of confidence in it as a national study publishing by the NITR.

This study was conducted to estimate the design flood by the determination of best fitting order for LH-moments of the annual maximum series at fifteen watersheds. Using the LH-moment ratios and Kolmogorov-Smirnov test, the optimal regional probability distribution was identified to be the Generalized Extreme Value (GEV) in the first report of this project. Parameters of GEV distribution and flood flows of return period n years were derived by the methods of L, L1, L2, L3 and L4-moments. Frequency analysis of flood flow data generated by Monte Carlo simulation was performed by the methods of L, L1, L2, L3 and L4-moments using GEV distribution. Relative Root Mean Square Error. (RRMSE), Relative Bias (RBIAS) and Relative Efficiency (RE.) using methods of L, Ll , L2, L3 and L4-moments for GEV distribution were computed and compared with those resulting from Monte Carlo simulation. At almost all of the watersheds, the more the order of LH-moments and the return periods increased, the more RE became, while the less RRMSE and RBIAS became. The Absolute Relative Reduction (ARR) for the design flood was computed. The more the order of LH-moments increased, the less ARR of all applied watershed became It was confirmed that confidence efficiency of estimated design flood was increased as the order of LH-moments increased. Consequently, design floods for the appled watersheds were derived by the methods of L3 and L4-moments among LH-moments in view of high confidence efficiency.

This study presents the basic resources for the enhancement of the competitiveness of the Korean fashion brands in the Chinese fashion market. They are composed of the differences and common points of clothing styles in Seoul, Beijing, and Shanghai, by analyzing the style comparatively. The research was performed by taking pictures of the Summer 2009 street fashions, from July $1^{st}$ to July $15^{th}$ 1999 (10 am to 5 pm). Among the data about the three cities, 200 photos were selected of women in their twenties and thirties, respectively. The disparity of regional preferences were noted in the fields of easy casual, romantic casual, sports casual, character casual, classic style, and feminine style. There were no specific differences in style among the three cities in the easy casual and classic style. The romantic casual after the easy casual were more prevalent in Seoul, as compared to the two cities in China. The neat style was more prevalent in Seoul. In Beijing the feminine style after the easy casual were preferred. The conservative style was more preferred in Seoul, while the body exposed style was preferred in Beijing and Shanghai. In Shanghai, the character casual was preferred and shows the similarity to the fashion style of Seoul, rather than Beijing. The high exposure of the body in romantic casual and feminine styles was more remarkable in Beijing and Shanghai. The frequency of the character casual that emphasized individuality with a unique style was relatively high in Shanghai. Seoul, Shanghai, and Beijing showed a similarity in the acceptance of fashion trends and preferences in clothing style. However, the fashion coordination in Shanghai and Beijing was different from Seoul.

This study was designed to ask experienced nurses at local and regional emergency medical centers for their awareness of paramedics and for their opinions on a paramedic's proper duties in emergency medical centers. The questionnaire consisted of 61 questions in total, including general questions, questions about awareness of paramedics, and questions about the duties of paramedics in emergency medical centers. For data analysis, SPSS 21.0 was applied to conduct frequency and correlation analyses. Regarding the duties of paramedics in emergency medical centers, there were positive answers in 33 questions of the questionnaire. The need for paramedics who work for emergency medical centers and the importance of their duties in emergency medical centers were high in the questionnaire. In addition, there were positive answers to the questions about the need for the professionalism of paramedics and the nees for increasing the number of paramedics in emergency medical centers. There was no difference between the groups.
The characteristics of the rainfall events on the Korean peninsula have been investigated by means of regional and global observational data collected from 1954 to 2004 with an emphasis on extreme cases $80\;mm\;day^{-1}$. According to our analysis, long-term annual rainfall anomalies show an increasing trend. This trend is pronounced in the month of August, when both the amount of monthly rainfall and the frequency of extreme events increase significantly. Composite maps on August during the 8 wet years reveal warm SST anomalies over the eastern Philippine Sea which are associated with enhanced convection and vertical motion and intensified positive SLP over central Eurasia during August. The rainfall pattern suggests that the most significant increase in moisture supply over the southern parts of China and Korea in August is associated with positive SLP changes over Eurasia and negative SLP changes over the subtropical western Pacific off the east coast of south China. The frequent generation of typhoons over the warm eastern Philippine Sea and their tracks appear to influence the extreme rainfall events in Korea during the month of August. The typhoons in August mainly passed the western coast of Korea, resulting in the frequent occurrence of extreme rainfall events in this region. Furthermore, anomalous cyclonic circulations over the eastern Philippine Sea also promoted the generation of tropical cyclones. The position of pressure systems - positive SLP over Eurasia and negative SLP over the subtropical Pacific - in turn provided a pathway for typhoons. The moisture is then effectively transported further north toward Korea and east toward the southern parts of China during the extreme rainfall period.
