Regenerative energy generated by regenerative braking of DC traction can cause the system malfunction or damage to the rectifier, or malfunction of the power conversion device in power supply system by DC Line voltage rise in feeder line. Regenerative energy storage system using super capacitor is one of the ways to stabilize DC line voltage. In this paper, energy storage system of DC traction system using super-capacitor bank is implemented and using the field measurement data of the station N and the station S on the Line 2, the operation characteristics of line voltage caused by regenerative energy of electric trains are verified. Also, charge/discharge characteristics of super capacitor are verified as well. Thus, we can verify the operation characteristics of super-capacitor bank for regenerative energy storage system installed in DC Traction. And if we can use field measurement data of DC line voltage, we have obtained cost reduction. The stabilization of the system will be improved by measuring the operation characteristics of regenerative energy storage system in certain section operated by DC traction and predicting the capacity and lifetime of super-capacitor.

In this paper, an energy regeneration algorithm is proposed to make the maximum use of the regenerative braking energy for a parallel hybrid electric vehicle(HEV) equipped with a continuous variable transmission(CVT). The regenerative algorithm is developed by considering the battery state of charge(SOC), vehicle velocity and motor capacity. The hydraulic module consists of a reducing valve and a power unit to supply the front wheel brake pressure according to the control algorithm. In order to evaluate the performance of the regenerative braking algorithm and the hydraulic module, a hardware-in-the-loop simulation (HILS) is performed. In the HILS system, the brake system consists of four wheel brakes and the hydraulic module. Dynamic characteristics of the HEV are simulated using an HEV simulator. In the HEV simulator, each element of the HEV powertrain such as internal combustion engine, motor, battery and CVT is modelled using MATLAB/$Simulink^{(R)}$. In the HILS, a driver operates the brake pedal with his or her foot while the vehicle speed is displayed on the monitor in real time. It is found from the HILS that the regenerative braking algorithm and the hydraulic module suggested in this paper provide a satisfactory braking performance in tracking the driving schedule and maintaining the battery state of charge.
We proposes an adaptive relay selection scheme for a regenerative (OFDMA) relay network with fairness constrains. The proposed scheme selects the best relays out of a set of potential relays to maximize system capacity. Among these selected relays, subcarriers are reallocated to satisfy fairness constraints as well as to minimize the decrease of the system capacity. The simulation results show that the proposed scheme achieves significant performance improvement over direct transmission and opportunistic relaying with OFDM (OR-OFDM).

An accumulator in hydraulic systems stores kinetic energy during braking action, and then that control hasty surge pres-sure. This study suggests a method to select the capacity of accumulator to control surge pressure to a desired degree. The selection method is based upon a trial and error approach and computer simulation. A mathematical dynamic model of the system was derived and the parameters in the model were identified from experimental data. A series of computer simulation were done for the brake action. The results of the simulation work were compared with those of experiments. These results of the computer simular-tion and experiments show that the proposed method can be applied effectively to control the surge pressure of the hydraulic regenerative brake systems.

The purpose of this study was to evaluate on the biodegradability, biocompatibility and tissue regenerative capacity of synthetic biodegradable $mernbranes-Resolut^{(R)}$, $Guidor^{(R)}$ and $Biomesh^{(R)}$. To evaluate the cell attachment on the membranes, in vitro, the number of gingival fibroblasts attached to each membrane was counted by hemocytometer. Cytotoxicity test for the membranes was performed by MTT test with gingival fibroblast For evaluation of guided- bone regenerative potential, the amount of new bone formation in the rat calvarial defects(5mm in diameter) beneath the membranes was observed for two weeks and examined of the specimens by Massons trichrome staining. Biodegradability was observed for 2, 4, 8 and 12 weeks after implantation of each materials under the skin of rats and examined the specimens with H & E staining. The number of cell attachment were the greatest in $Biomesh^{(R)}$ and followed by $Resolut^{(R)}$. Cell viability of three membranes was almost similar levels. Biodegradability of $Resolut^{(R)}$ was the highest among three membrane and the potential of guided bone regeneration was the greatest in the $Biomesh^{(R)}$ and $Resolut^{(R)}$ was followed. These results suggested that commercially available biodegradable membranes were non-toxic and highly potential to guided bone regeneration.

The typical trunk lid system for vehicle is composed of a hinge having 4-bar link and gas lifter. Here, the energy regenerative brake of hydraulic driven systems is applied to the tail gate system for vehicle and removed the gas lifter. The new tail gate system is composed of a hydraulic pump by electric motor, a hydraulic motor, four check valves, an accumulator, a relief valve and a directional control valve. The dynamic characteristics of the hydraulic motor system, such as the surge pressure and response time, are investigated in both brake action and acceleration action. The capacity selection method of accumulator by mathematical model is based upon trial and error approach and computer simulation by AMEsim software is carried out.
Cartilage has a limited regenerative capacity. Faced with the clinical challenge of reconstruction of cartilage defects, the field of cartilage engineering has evolved. This article reviews current concepts and strategies in cartilage engineering with an emphasis on the application of nanotechnology in the production of biomimetic cartilage regenerative scaffolds. The structural architecture and composition of the cartilage extracellular matrix and the evolution of tissue engineering concepts and scaffold technology over the last two decades are outlined. Current advances in biomimetic techniques to produce nanoscaled fibrous scaffolds, together with innovative methods to improve scaffold biofunctionality with bioactive cues are highlighted. To date, the majority of research into cartilage regeneration has been focused on articular cartilage due to the high prevalence of large joint osteoarthritis in an increasingly aging population. Nevertheless, the principles and advances are applicable to cartilage engineering for plastic and reconstructive surgery.
The cord blood serves as a vehicle for the transportation of oxygen and nutrients to the fetus. In the past, the human cord blood has generally been discarded after birth. However, numerous studies have described the regenerative ability of the cord blood cells in various incurable diseases. The umbilical cord blood (UCB)-derived stem cells are obtained through non-invasive methods that are not harmful to both the mother and the fetus. Furthermore, the cord blood stem cells are more immature than the adult stem cells and expand readily in vitro. The mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) have the capacity to differentiate in vitro into various mesodermal (bone, cartilage, tendon, muscle, and adipose), endodermal (hepatocyte), and ectodermal (neurons) tissues. This review describes the immunological properties of the human UCB-MSCs to assess their potential usefulness in the allogeneic transplantation for the regenerative medicine.
A technological review and analysis were performed on thermal cracking of aviation hydrocarbon fuels that circulate as coolants in regenerative cooling systems of hypersonic flights. Liquid hydrocarbons decompose into low-carbon-number hydrocarbons when they absorb a considerable amount of energy at extremely high temperatures, and these thermal cracking behaviors are represented by heat sink capacity, conversion ratio, reaction products, and coking propensity. These parameters are closely interrelated, and thus, they must be considered for optimum performance in terms of the overall heat absorption in the regenerative cooling system and supersonic combustion in the scramjet engine.
Purpose: Guided bone regeneration (GBR) is the most widely used technique to regenerate and augment bones. Even though augmented bones (ABs) have been examined histologically in many studies, few studies have been conducted to examine the biological potential of these bones and the healing dynamics following their use. Moreover, whether the bone obtained from the GBR procedure possesses the same functions as the existing autogenous bone is uncertain. In particular, little attention has been paid to the regenerative ability of GBR bone. Therefore, the present study histologically evaluated the regenerative capacity of AB in the occlusive space of a rat guided bone augmentation (GBA) model. Methods: The calvaria of 30 rats were exposed, and plastic caps were placed on the right of the calvaria in 10 of the 30 rats. After a 12-week healing phase, critical-sized calvarial bone defects (diameter: 5.0 mm) were trephined into the dorsal parietal bone on the left of the calvaria. Bone particles were harvested from the AB or the cortical bone (CB) using a bone scraper and transplanted into the critical defects. Results: The newly generated bone at the defects' edge was evaluated using micro-computed tomography (micro-CT) and histological sections. In the micro-CT analysis, the radiopacity in both the augmented and the CB groups remained high throughout the observational period. In the histological analysis, the closure rate of the CB was significantly higher than in the AB group. The numbers of cells positive for runt-related transcription factor 2 (Runx2) and tartrate-resistant acid phosphatase (TRAP) in the AB group were larger than in the CB group. Conclusions: The regenerative capacity of AB in the occlusive space of the rat GBA model was confirmed. Within the limitations of this study, the regenerative ability of the AB particulate transplant was inferior to that of the CB particulate transplant.
