Effect of Self-Foot Reflexotherapy on the Fatigue, Mood and Vital Signs of the Nursing Students (자가 발반사 마사지가 간호학생의 피로, 기분 및 활력징후에 미치는 효과)

  • Purpose: This study was aimed to identify the effects of Self-Foot Reflexotherapy on the Fatigue, Mood and Vital Signs of the Nursing students. Methods: The research design was a quasi experimental, one-group pretest-posttest design. The data were collected from June 15 to August 31, 2008. The one group was consisted of 21 subjects. The instruments used for the study were the Fatigue and Paleasant mood. The data were analyzed by SPSS WIN 12.0 program. In order to compare the effect of the pre-post Foot Reflexotherapy, paired-test and Repeated Measures ANOVA was employed. Results: A significant decrease in fatigue, increase in Mood and Vital signs after providing self foot reflexotherapy was observed. Conclusion: The result suggests that a self foot reflexotherapy could be utilized as an effective nursing intervention to the patients to reduce fatigue, Mood and vital signs.

The Effect of Ear Reflexotherapy on Back Pain of Working Women in Middle Age (귀 자극요법 적용이 중년 여성 근로자의 요통에 미치는 효과)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of ear reflexotherapy on back pain of working women in middle age. Methods: The quasi-experimental, nonequivalent control group pretest-posttest design was used for the study. Total of 56 participants composed of experimental group (n=26) and control group (n=30), who were working in four hospitals in urban area. The degree of back pain after ear reflexotherapy was measured by VAS. The data were analyzed by frequency, percent, t-test and $X^2$-test. Results: The degree of back pain after ear reflexotherapy in the experimental group was significantly reduced, while there was no difference in control group. There was a significant difference between the experimental group and control group in the degree of back pain after ear reflexotherapy (t=3.702, p=.001). Conclusion: Application of ear reflexotherapy was effective for employed women in middle age and it needs to be further evaluated among the other population.

Effect of Foot Reflexomassage on Constipation-affected College Women (발 반사마사지가 여대생의 변비완화에 미치는 효과)

  • Purpose: This study was to determine the effects of foot reflexomassage on constipated college women for the treatment of constipation. Method: The researcher sampled nursing students attending a college of nursing science in Gyeonggi-Do, and checked if they were affected by constipation in reference to the Rome II criteria & CAS. They were randomly divided into an experimental group(15 subjects) and a control group(15 subjects). Foot reflexomassage was applied to the experimental group 10 times in 2 weeks: each time lasted 40 minutes. The frequency of defecation and severity of constipation by CAS were measured. The collected data was analyzed using the SPSS 11.5 program. Result: The CAS score of the experimental group was significantly lower after foot reflexomassage than those of the control group(p=.000). Conclusion: Foot reflexomassage can be considered an effective alternative treatment for constipated young women.
