In this paper, we propose a new approach for recovering 3-D shape and extracting the reflectance properties of surface from intensity images. Photometric stereo method(PSM) is genrally based on the direct illumination. In this paper, the reflectance function is derived by interoduceing the indirect diffuse illumination in PSM and then applied to hybrid reflectance model which consists of two components; the lambertian and the specular reflectance. Under the hybrid reflectance model and the indirect diffuse illumination circumstance, the reflectance properties of sample surface can be extracting by normal sampler and then 3-D shape of an object can be recovered based on extracting reflectance properties. This method is rapid because of using the reference table and simplifies the restriction condition about the reflectance function existing in prior studies. Th erecovery efficiency in our method is better than that in prior studies. Also, this method is applied to various types of surfaces by defining general reflectance function.

A new approach is presented for recovering the 3-D shape from shading image. Photometric Stereo Method (PSM) is generally based on the direct illumination. In this paper, the reflectance function is derived by introduceing the indirect diffuse illumination in PSM and then applied to hybrid reflectance model which consists fo two components; the Lambertian reflectance and the speclar reflectance. Under the hybrid reflectance model and the indirect diffuse illumination circumstances, the 3-D shape of object can be recovered from the suface normal vector extracted from the surface roughness, the surface reflectance ratio, and the intensity value of a pixel. This method is rapid because of using the reference table and simplifies the restriction condition about the reflectance function existing in prior studies. The recovery efficiency in our method is better than that in prior studies. Also, this method is applied to various types of surfaces by defining general reflectance function.

The objective of this study is to present the reference data about the influence of concrete properties using crushed sand, according to the change of powder content and grain shape. From the test results. We obtained that as powder content is increased, sand aggregate ratio, water content and S.P/C are increased in mixing design of concrete. The more powder content is the less slump and air content loss are decreased in fresh state, but the higher compressive strength and drying shrinkage are increased in hardened concrete state. As grain shape become round, water content is decreased in mixing design of concrete. And also, loss of slump and air content in fresh state, compressive strength in hardened state are increased.

In this paper, we have analyzed the current MPEG-4 video encoding tools and proposed efcient coding techniques that reduce the complexity of the encoder. Until recently, encoder optimization without shape coding has been a major concern in video for wire/wireless low bit rate coding services. Recently, we found out that the computational complexity of MPEG-4 shape coding plays a very important role in the object-based coding through experiments. We have made an experiment whether we could get optimized object-based coding method through successfully combining latest optimized texture coding techniques with our proposed optimized shape coding techniques. In texture coding, we applied the MVFAST method for motion estimation. We chose not to use IVOPF(Intelligent VOP Formation) but to use TRB(Tightest Rectangular Boundary) for positioning VOP and, finally, to eliminate the spiral search of shape motion estimation to reduce the complexity in shape coding. As a result of experiment, our proposed scheme achieved improved time complexity over the existing reference software by $57.3\%$ and over the optimized method on which only shape coding was applied by $48.7\%$, respectively.

Performance of organic light-emitting diodes incorporating microlens array was simulated using a Light Tools software. Use of microlens array can help the light to escape out of the device. We simulated a reference device that is consisted of reflection layer, emissive layer, and flat transparent substrate. And in this reference device, outcoupled efficiency of 22% was obtained. Several shapes of microlens were applied such as hemisphere, trapezoid, cone, and rectangular parallelepiped. The results showed the improvement of outcoupled efficiency of the device with microlens compared to that of the reference one. And from the analyses of the simulated data, the obtained appropriate shape of microlens is hemisphere, and the improvement of the device with hemispherical lens is 57% higher than that of the reference one.

In this study, an augmented reality-based make-up tool was built to analyze the user's face shape based on face-type reference model data and to provide virtual makeup by providing face-type makeup. To analyze the face shape, first recognize the face from the image captured by the camera, then extract the features of the face contour area and use them as analysis properties. Next, the feature points of the extracted face contour area are normalized to compare with the contour area characteristics of each face reference model data. Face shape is predicted and analyzed using the distance difference between the feature points of the normalized contour area and the feature points of the each face-type reference model data. In augmented reality-based virtual makeup, in the image input from the camera, the face is recognized in real time to extract the features of each area of the face. Through the face-type analysis process, you can check the results of virtual makeup by providing makeup that matches the analyzed face shape. Through the proposed system, We expect cosmetics consumers to check the makeup design that suits them and have a convenient and impact on their decision to purchase cosmetics. It will also help you create an attractive self-image by applying facial makeup to your virtual self.
Sensor localization is one of the fundamental problems in wireless sensor networks. Previous localization algorithms can be classified into two categories, the GGB (Global Geometry-Based) approaches and the LGB (Local Geometry-Based). In the GGB approaches, there are a fixed set of reference nodes of which the coordinates are pre-determined. Other nodes determine their positions based on the distances from the fixed reference nodes. In the LGB approaches, meanwhile, the reference node set is not fixed, but grows up dynamically. Most GGB algorithms assume that the nodes are deployed in a convex shape area. They fail if either nodes are in a concave shape area or there are obstacles that block the communications between nodes. Meanwhile, the LGB approach is vulnerable to the errors in the distance estimations. In this paper, we propose new localization algorithms to cope with those two limits. The key technique employed in our algorithms is to determine, in a fully distributed fashion, if a node is in the line-of-sight from another. Based on the technique, we present two localization algorithms, one for anchor-based, another for anchor-free localization, and compare them with the previous algorithms.

Rapid prototyping (RP) technologies have been widely used to reduce the lead-time and development cost of new products. $VLM-_{ST}$ process has been developed to overcome the currently developed RP technologies such as a large building time, a high building cost, an additional post-processing and a large apparatus cost. $VLM-_{ST}$ process requires an additional human interaction due to the manual stacking and bonding. Hence, building time, building cost and the part quality are dependent on the skill of labor. A novel RP process, fully automated $VLM-_{ST}$ process ($VLM-_{ST}$), has been developed to improve building efficiency of the process and the human dependency of the part. The objective of this work is to propose a $VLM-_{ST}$ process and to develop an apparatus for implementation of the process. $VLM-_{ST}$ process and its apparatus have various technical novelties such as two step cutting using a rotating table, an automatic stacking method using two pilot holes and two reference shapes, a concept of automatic unit shape layer (AUSL), and an automatic bonding using the bonding roller and building magazine. In order to examine the efficiency and the applicability of the proposed process, various three-dimensional shapes, such as a piston, a human head shape and a human bust shape, were fabricated on the apparatus.

Manufacturers of aircraft engines have introduced computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) software to operate and control computerized numerical control (CNC) machine tools. However, the generation of a CAM model is a time consuming and error-prone task since machining procedure and operational details are manually defined. For the automatic generation of a CAM model, feature recognition techniques have been widely studied. However, their recognition coverage is limited so that complex shapes such as a jet engine cannot be fully developed. This study presents a novel approach to quickly generate a CAM model from a CAD model using shape search techniques. Once an operator sets a machining operation as a reference operation, the same shapes as the shapes referenced by the operation are searched. The reference operation is copied to the positions of the searched shapes. The proposed method was verified through experiments with a jet engine compressor case.
Modern watermelon cultivars (Citrullus lanatus [Thunb.] Matsum.& Nakai var. lanatus) have fruits with diverse phenotypes, including fruit shape, rind patterns, and flesh color. Molecular markers enable efficient selection of plants harboring desirable phenotypes. In the present study, publicly available DNA markers tightly linked to fruit shape, rind stripe pattern, and flesh color were evaluated using 85 watermelon accessions with diverse fruit phenotypes. For fruit shape, the dCAPS SUN - Cla011257 marker revealed an 81% of marker - trait match for accessions with elongated or round fruits. For rind stripe pattern, the SCAR wsb6-11marker was effective for selecting Jubilee-type rind pattern from other rind patterns. For flesh color, the Clcyb.600 and Lcyb markers derived from a mutation in the Lycopene ${\beta}$ - cyclase (Lcyb) gene, were effective at selecting red or yellow flesh. Forty-eight accessions possessing diverse fruit - related traits were selected as a reference array and their genetic relationships assessed using 16 SSR markers. At a coefficient of 0.11, the 48 accessions grouped into two major clades: Clade I and Clade II. Clade I subdivided further into subclades I - 1 and I - 2 at a coefficient of 0.39. All accessions with colored flesh were classified into Clade I, whereas those with white - flesh were classified into Clade II. Differences in fruit traits between subclades I - 1 and I - 2 were observed for rind pattern and fruit color; a majority of the accessions with Crimson-type striped or non-striped rind were grouped together in subclade I - 1, while most accessions in subclade I - 2 had a Jubilee - type rind stripe pattern. These results imply that reference array watermelon accessions possess distinguishable genetic structure based on rind stripe pattern. However, no significant grouping pattern was observed based on other fruit-related traits.
