  • GPM(Generic Product Model) developed by Hitachi in Japan is a common data model to integrate and share life cycle data of nuclear power plants. GPM consists of GPM core model, an abstract model, implementation language for the model and reference library written in the language. GPM core model has a feature that it can construct a semantic network model consisting of relationships among objects. Initial GPM developed and provided GPML as an implementation language to support the feature of the core model, but afterwards the GPML was replaced by GPM-XML based on XML to achieve data interoperability with heterogeneous applications accessing a GPM data model. However, data models written in GPM-XML are insufficient to be used as a semantic network model for lack of studies which support GPM-XML and enable the models to be used as a semantic network model. This paper proposes OWL as the implementation language for GPM core model because OWL can describe ontologies similar to semantic network models and has an abundant supply of technical standards and supporting tools. Also, OWL which can be expressed in terms of RDF/XML based on XML guarantees data interoperability. This paper uses OWL DL, one of three sublanguages of OWL, because it can guarantee complete reasoning and the maximum expressiveness at the same time. The contents of this paper introduce the way how to overcome the difference between GPM and OWL DL, and, base on this way, describe how to convert the reference library written in GPML into ontologies based on OWL DL written in RDF/XML.

  • In this paperwe develop a real-time simulator for direct drive cooperative robot by using OpenGL in a Windows NT based system. This simulator is composed of 2 parts, a display part and an interface part. In the display part the robot is modelled and rendered in 3D space. To do this OpenGL, a kind of graphic library, is used for rendering and animating robots and kinematics gives the information of the current robot configuration. The control and the feedback data are sent and received via the interface part. In real time simulation interfacing part needs fast data transfer rate and good nosic immunity. In experiment we have simulated 2-link direct drive cooperative robots using the trajectory tracking algorithm proposed in reference.

  • Metadata standardization of resources, having a heterogeneous metadata structure for each presidential archive and presidential library and museum is preferentially required for utilizing and sharing presidential records. An integrated operation model of metadata to manage various types of presidential records is then needed. The purpose of this study is to create a design principle of integrated metadata, and to suggest relationships and attributes of metadata, needed for developing integrated metadata operation system on presidential records. The design principle includes "creation of relationship among presidential records", "design of each entity, applicable multiple entity data model", "design to describe various types of presidential records", "design to reflect lifelong management on records of holding institutes", and "designing hybrid metadata for long term preservation". Metadata element set consists of elements for common attributes with all types of presidential records for a unique attribute for a specific presidential record and for reference information among different records related to the production of presidential records.

  • In order to support the mission of the institution in which they are attached, academic libraries provide services in both manual and digital but COVID -19 pandemic that spanned between March and September, 2020 has changed the scenario. With particular reference to Nigeria, about 249,606 cases were confirmed and in order to curb the scourge of this deadly disease, physical academic activities were prevented by Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC). With this development, innovative tools became indispensable tools for successful delivery of library services in Nigerian academic libraries. Whether or not these tools are still in use for reformation of library service during post- Covid era remains unclear, hence, need for this study. This study examined librarians' use of innovative tools for information dissemination in Nigerian academic libraries during the post-Covid era using a descriptive survey design. Data were obtained both in quantitative and qualitative formats from one hundred and forty-four librarians as respondents. A total enumeration sampling technique was adopted because the population was minimal. Findings of the study revealed that innovative tools such as videoconferencing, WhatsApp, teleconferencing, Facebook, LinkedIn, and web-based learning applications are still in use by librarians for the dissemination of information during the post-Covid era. These tools are useful and beneficial to librarians during the post-COVID era, as they facilitate easy participation and engagement of library users in various discussions. Inadequate funding and lack of advanced technology skills were also identified as major impediments to the successful use of innovative tools for information dissemination. As a result, it was suggested that academic libraries throughout Nigeria prioritize staff training on the necessary digital skills needed to cope in this advanced technology era.

  • This study describes the Bottom-up method for implementation of an ontology system from the RDB. The STNet, a structured terminology glossary based on RDB, was served as a test bed for converting to RDF ontology, for generating the inference rules, and for evaluating the results of the semantic search. We have used protege editor of the ontology developing tool to design ontologies with test data. We also tested the designed ontology with the Inference Engine (Pellet) of protege editor. The generated reference rules were tested by TBox and SPARQL queries through STNet ontology. The results of test show that the generated reference rules were verified as true and STNet ontology were also evaluated to be useful for searching the complex combination of semantic relation.

  • In order to construct a data warehouse of process plant equipment, a classification structure should be defined first, identifying not only the equipment categories but also attributes of an each equipment to represent the specifications of equipment. ISO 15926 Process Plants is an international standard dealing with the life-cycle data of process plant facilities. From the viewpoints of defining classification structure, Part 2 data model and Reference Data Library (RDL) of ISO 15926 are seen to respectively provide standard syntactic structure and semantic vocabulary, facilitating the exchange and sharing of plant equipment's life-cycle data. Therefore, the equipment data warehouse with an ISO 15926-based classification structure has the advantage of easy integration among different engineering systems. This paper introduces ISO 15926 and then discusses how to define a classification structure with ISO 15926 Part 2 data model and RDL. Finally, we describe the development result of an ISO 15926-based classification structure for a variety of equipment consisting in the reactor coolant system (RCS) of APR 1400 nuclear plant.

  • Background: Dose conversion coefficients (DCCs) have been commonly used to estimate radiation-dose absorption by human organs based on physical measurements of fluence or kerma. The International Commission on Radiological Protection (ICRP) has reported a library of DCCs, but few studies have been conducted on their applicability to non-Caucasian populations. In the present study, we collected a total of 8 Korean pediatric and adult voxel phantoms to calculate the organ DCCs for idealized external photon-irradiation geometries. Materials and Methods: We adopted one pediatric female phantom (ETRI Child), two adult female phantoms (KORWOMAN and HDRK Female), and five adult male phantoms (KORMAN, ETRI Man, KTMAN1, KTMAN2, and HDRK Man). A general-purpose Monte Carlo radiation transport code, MCNPX2.7 (Monte Carlo N-Particle Transport extended version 2.7), was employed to calculate the DCCs for 13 major radiosensitive organs in six irradiation geometries (anteroposterior, posteroanterior, right lateral, left lateral, rotational, and isotropic) and 33 photon energy bins (0.01-20 MeV). Results and Discussion: The DCCs for major radiosensitive organs (e.g., lungs and colon) in anteroposterior geometry agreed reasonably well across the 8 Korean phantoms, whereas those for deep-seated organs (e.g., gonads) varied significantly. The DCCs of the child phantom were greater than those of the adult phantoms. A comparison with the ICRP Publication 116 data showed reasonable agreements with the Korean phantom-based data. The variations in organ DCCs were well explained using the distribution of organ depths from the phantom surface. Conclusion: A library of dose conversion coefficients for major radiosensitive organs in a series of pediatric and adult Korean voxel phantoms was established and compared with the reference data from the ICRP. This comparison showed that our Korean phantom-based data agrees reasonably with the ICRP reference data.

  • The following results have been driven out from a survey of the actual conditions of the public libraries service in Korea, made through questionnaire in reference with the actual service for youth that are presently done by the foreign countries' libraries, in order to prepare a perfect and objective base in establishing a service activities of the public libraries in this country: (1) It was found that the public libraries' loarning hours during the week days which accords with the schooling hours of the schools are shown to 50 %. On Saturdays during Summer season seven libraries and during Winter season twelve libraries would close their loaning before 17 : 00 hours, and on Holidays and Sundays fifteen libraries are not doing their loarning. (2) The followings are the present status of the service activities for the youth by the public libraries: a. It was found that they do introduction activity (50 %) of newly published books as a service for inducing reading interestings of the youth, and except this it was found that others are on beginning. b. The service activities by the data for the visual and auditory sense are almost negelected. and the rate of doing such activity is shown to 9.74%. c. It has been found that little information service activity is for inducing the youth to the libraries. d. As a cooperative activity with the school's, a passive service activity to have pursuaded to visit the public libraries by each class, are mostly being done (27.27%). Some research meeting for solving all the matters between the school libraries are not held mostly.
