  • The purpose of this study is to examine the characteristics of space design appearing in facade and interior composition factors of buildings in the colonial period in Indonesia. Research method is a field study, and subjects of the study is 14 buildings built in the colonial period located in Jakarta. The research result is as follows. First, Facade is divided into C type (colonial style), CT type (colonial style + traditional style), CA type (colonial style + art deco style), and CTA type (colonial style + traditional style + art deco style). Among them, CT type which shows both a colonial style and traditional style accounts for the most. As for Java traditional style mainly shows Joglo roof style and bratticing decoration on top of gates, and the colonial style presents both an Amsterdam canal housing style such as narrow Facade and unusual Gable, and a classical style such as pediment, entablature, and columns. Second, interior space is divided into C type (colonial style), CT type (colonial style + Indonesian traditional style), A type (art deco style), and CA type (colonial style + art deco style). Among them, CT type was also accounted for the most. Selected traditional style is a shape of bratticing decoration on top of gates and a shape of tenon of Joglo housing structure. Colonial style showed classical style such as exposed crossbeams, columns, and pilasters, and as for unique decoration, there are Ancona decoration and Delft tile decoration. On one hand, art deco style used typical art deco factors such as contrast of various materials and complementary color or golden color use as well as zigzag or vertical lines and geometric ornament by combining with colonial style or traditional style. It is expected that such research result will be a practical reference data when Korean construction companies or interior design companies advance Indonesia.

  • In this paper, we study the bus stop shelters, one of the public facilities, revised by the development plan of Seoul city. Dark gray and brown are dominant colours for the shelters. As representative colours, designated by Seoul city, dark gray and brown can be harmonious naturally with urban environment. However, in view of universal design, those colours have some problems to be recognized and to be used for handicapped groups, olds and childens especially. For analysis, investigating proposition and circumstance of two groups living in the city is the first place. This study is for building proper colour domains of universal design for public facilities and for recognizing that the way of public facilities should be that the ambit of public space is not regarded as a facility but recognized easily in accordance with environment including a facility. we hope that this paper is practically used as a reference for coming studies are the purposes of this study.

  • The physicochemical properties of microwave-roasted cocoa beans such as color, degree of browning, pH, titrable acidity, organic acid, and sugar content were determined and compared with those of conventionally-roasted beans. Microwave roasting temperatures were 110, 120, 130, 140 and $150^{\circ}C$. Roasting times were 0, 5, 10, 20, and 30 min. Conventional roasting was done at $120^{\circ}C$ and 15 min as a reference. The pH had no relations with roasting temperature or roasting time. As roasting time and roasting temperature were increased, the titrable acidity values of roasted cocoa beans became higher than those of raw bean. But there were no differences among each condition. Color, degree of browning, and sugar content changed as roasting temperature and roasting time increased. The organic acid content of roasted beans increased but the degree of increase was different from organic acid to organic acid. Roasting by microwaves resulted in higher inner temperature of samples than the surface temperature. To increase roasting efficiency, the other heat sources should be used together with microwave.

  • Optical properties were studied in the Northwest Pacific near Kamchatka Peninsula based on ten oceanographic stations from September 20 to 24, 1976. Submarine light intensity was measured by usins a submarine illuminometer (RIGO, Type: 2501-A) ; equipped with a red filter (RIGO, Type: V-R-60, wave length: 600-620 nm). Light intensity in the upper 40 m depth layer was measured at 1 m depth intervals. The absorption coefficient for red color in the area ranged from 0. 178 to 0.376 (mean 0.278) : the Secchidisc depth in the area ranged from 9 to 12 meters (mean 10.6 meters). The relationship between absorption coefficient (m) and transparency depth (D) was m=5.347/D. The rates of light penetration for red color at three different depths are computed with reference to the surface light intensity. The mean rates of light penetration were $16.36\%\;(6.45\~23.5\%),\;3.65\%\;(1.38\~7.31\%)\;and\;0.276\%(0.048\~0.647\%) $ at the depths of s m, 10 m, and 20 m, respectively.

  • Objectives Tongue diagnosis is an important diagnostic method in traditional Eastern medicine, and it has a high potential to be used in the future healthcare because of easy, quick, and non-contact measuring features. Recently, research and development efforts on computerized tongue diagnosis systems (CTDS) have been active that led to the technical advancements in the field of photographing techniques, image extraction and classification algorithms. In this study, we analyzed the trends in the CTDS patents. Using the WIPS search engine (www.wipsglobal.com), quantitative and qualitative patent analyses were performed through Korea, China, Japan, U.S.A and Europe. Methods For a systematic search and data analysis, we defined patent categories based on the application area and technical details. By applying thus-obtained categorical key words, we obtained 360 relevant patents on photographing techniques, image extraction and classification algorithms for the purpose of diagnosis or security. Results As a result, companies related to image acquisition, medical imaging and mobile devices and research groups of universities in East Asia were major patent applicants. In all the five countries, the number of patents have been increasing since 1980. In particular, technology related to color correction and image segmentation were most actively patented categories, and expected to continue a high application rate.

  • Functional, aesthetic and symbolic working uniforms in the industrial complex are demanded by employees and employers. The purpose of this research was to find out the actual wearing condition and preference of the working uniform design in the industrial complex. The research selected 7 enterprise subjects located in the Changwon National Industrial Complex and adopted a questionnaire method. 912 workers categorized into 4 work groups according to their work posts replied in total. The data and the degrees of satisfaction/preference of the working uniforms were analysed into descriptive statistics and F-tests by using the SPSS S/W package. The results were as follows: First, the style of the working uniform was the standard two-piece style. Second, the degree of the satisfaction with the entrepreneurial image implied to the working uniform was 2.83 throughout the 5-scale evaluation. In addition, the degree of the satisfaction with the working uniform colors was in between 2.94 and 2.96. Third, unsatisfied parts of the upper and lower uniform garments were: sleeve > pocket > collar; and waist belt loop > hip pocket > hem line respectively. Fourth, beige was the most preferred color for the working uniform top and bottom both. The most preferred color images were the calm and safety and the bright and light in order. Especially, the demand on the safety factors and soil proof colors of the outside field workers was much higher than the clerical workers. Fifth, the blouson type jacket with shirts collar or soutien roll collar was more preferred to than the casual style; and the straight formal pants were more preferred to than the casual/sweat sports pants styles. Sixth, inner pockets to keep the mobile phone and pens were required for upper garment details specially by manufacture workers. Increase of the waist belt loop numbers was required by all work groups.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the instrumental and sensory characteristics of coffee-sulgi(rice cake) with different ratios of the ingredients; coffee(30$m\ell$, 40$m\ell$ and 50$m\ell$ of espresso and instant coffee) and sugar (50g and 75g). A commercial scheme for coffee-sulgi was also investigated. The optimal mixing ratios of coffee-sulgi with added espresso were rice flour 500g, salt 5g, espresso 40$m\ell$ and sugar 75g. Those of coffee-sulgi with added instant coffee were the same. As the sensory intensities of coffee aroma, coffee taste, sweetness, moistness, elasticity, color acceptance for coffee-sulgi and overall acceptance for quality were enhanced, the overall preference for coffee-sulgi was increased. In addition, overall preference was positively correlated with adhesiveness and a-value of instrumental characteristics, but negatively correlated with cohesiveness and L-value. In coffee-sulgi with added espresso, intensities of coffee aroma, browniness, coffee taste, color acceptance for coffee-sulgi, overall acceptance for quality and overall preference were higher than those of coffee-sulgi with added instant coffee. In this point, gourmet coffee-sulgi with added espresso and universal coffee-sulgi with added instant coffee could be differentiated in the coffee-sulgi markets. In conclusion, this study of coffee-sulgi and the differential scheme for the market will be useful to expand rice processing, enhance the intake of rice cakes and provide a reference for the commercialization of rice cakes.

  • The quality characteristics of velvet antlers obtained from Formosan sambar deer (Cervus unicolor Swinhoi) (SDVA), harvested from 63 to 81 d during the velvet antler growth period, were evaluated by investigating the relationships between antioxidant levels; including content, activity, and content/activity ratios, and physical properties; including shear force values, color, and Ca content. The hardness of samples from base velvet antler sections increased, and that the color of these samples tended to become reddish-yellow (redder and more yellow), suggesting that the Ca content in the base section of the sample was not ossified yet. Samples from the upper sections of velvet antler showed higher superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase (CAT), and glutathione peroxidase (GPX) content (3.91 to 1.50 mg/mL, 2.53 to 0.90 mg/mL, and 3.95 to 1.58 mg/mL, respectively) than did samples from the middle and base sections (p<0.05). The activity and content/activity ratios of GPX measured in the upper section were also found to be significantly greater than in the middle and base sections (p<0.05). We further observed that the content and activity of GPX was significantly and negatively correlated with Ca content, shear force values, and the content/activity ratio of this antioxidant (p<0.01). The study findings may serve as a reference index for quality evaluations of velvet antlers of Formosan sambar deer in future.

  • The success of coarse-mesh nodal solution methods provides strong motivation for finding homogenized parameters which, when used in global nodal calculation, will reproduce exactly all average nodal reaction rates for large nodes. Two approximate theories for finding these ideal parameters, namely, simplified equivalence theory and approximate node equivalence theory, are described herein and then applied to the PWR benchmark problem. Nodal code, ANM, is used for the global calculation as well as for the homogenization calculation. From the comparative analysis, it is recommended that homogenization be carried out only for the unique type of fuel assemblies and for core boundary color-sets. The use of approximate homogenized cross-sections and approximate discontinuity factors predicts nodal powers with maximum error of 0.8% and criticality within 0.1% error relative to the fine-mesh KIDD calculations.
