This paper presents a direct adaptive poleplacement control scheme which is applicable to discrete-time non-minimum phase systems. It is proved that by this scheme the poles can be placed at the desired locations and the overall state vector of the system is uniformly bounded if the reference input is sufficiently rich, and also proved that in case of insufficiently rich reference input the overall system can still be stabilized though the poles may not be placed exactly at the desired locations. The effectiveness of this scheme is verified by digital computer simulations.

Multi-level converter that is high-capacity electric power conversion system is used widely to electric motor drive system and FATCs(Flexible AC Transmission Systems). H-Bridge converter has been prevalently applied to shunt-type system because it can be easily expanded to the multi-level. In steady states, converter is normally operated in the range of 0.7∼0.8 of modulation Index. Even though zero vectors are not imposed to high modulation index, DC-Link voltage Is constant. It means that converter has another boost vector except for zero vectors among several vectors in 3-level converter. This paper has examined the principle of boost vector and investigated the difference between another boost vector and zero vectors in 3-level converter. In addition, this paper has analysed and compared the charging currents and the capacitor voltages of two topologies. The currents and voltages are related to reference voltage. Therefore, it proposed the calculation method for the voltage ripple and the charging current of each capacitor and compared various DC-Link voltage control methods through the simulation.

In multimedia information retrieval, multimedia data are represented as vectors in high dimensional space. To search these vectors effectively, a variety of indexing methods have been proposed. However, the performance of these indexing methods degrades dramatically with increasing dimensionality, which is known as the dimensionality curse. To resolve the dimensionality curse, dimensionality reduction methods have been proposed. They map feature vectors in high dimensional space into the ones in low dimensional space before indexing the data. This paper proposes a method for dimensionality reduction based on a function approximating the Euclidean distance, which makes use of the norm and angle components of a vector. First, we identify the causes of the errors in angle estimation for approximating the Euclidean distance, and discuss basic directions to reduce those errors. Then, we propose a novel method for dimensionality reduction that composes a set of subvectors from a feature vector and maintains only the norm and the estimated angle for every subvector. The selection of a good reference vector is important for accurate estimation of the angle component. We present criteria for being a good reference vector, and propose a method that chooses a good reference vector by using Levenberg-Marquardt algorithm. Also, we define a novel distance function, and formally prove that the distance function lower-bounds the Euclidean distance. This implies that our approach does not incur any false dismissals in reducing the dimensionality effectively. Finally, we verify the superiority of the proposed method via performance evaluation with extensive experiments.

This paper presents a design scheme of torque control for wheeled mobile robot(WMR) to asymptotically track the target reference trajectory. By considering the kinematic model of WMR, trajectory tracking control generates the desired tracking trajectory, which is transformed into the command velocity vector for the real WMR to track the target reference trajectory. The dynamic equation of the state error between the target reference trajectory and the desired tracking trajectory is represented by Takagi-Sugeno fuzzy model, and this model is used as the reference model for the real mobile robot error dynamics to follow. The control parameters are updated by adaptive laws that are designed for the error states of the real WMR to asymptotically follow the states of reference error model for the desired tracking trajectory. The proposed control is applied to a typical wheeled mobile robot and simulation studies are carried out to verify the validity and effectiveness of the control scheme.

This paper investigates the adaptive control of a fuzzy logic based speed and flux controller fur a vector controlled induction motor drive. A model reference adaptive scheme is proposed in which the adaptation mechanism is executed by fuzzy logic based on the error and change of error measured between the motor speed and output of a reference model. The control performance of the model reference adaptive control(MRAC) fuzzy controller is evaluated by simulation for various operating conditions. The validity of the Proposed MRAC fuzzy controller is confirmed by performance results for induction motor drive system.

This paper presents NR (No Reference) Quality assessment method for IPTV or mobile IPTV. Because No Reference quality assessment method does not access the original signal so it is suitable for the real-time streaming service. Our proposed method use decoding parameters, such as quantization parameter, motion vector, and packet loss as a major network parameter. To evaluate performance of the proposed algorithm, we carried out subjective test of video quality with the ITU-T P.910 ACR (Absolute Category Rating) method and obtained the mean opinion score (MOS) value for QVGA 180 video sequence coded by H.264/AVC encoder. Experimental results show the proposed quality metric has a high correlation (84%) to subjective quality.

Motion Estimation time in the H.264 has a large portion of encoding time and must be improved for real time application. Most of proposed motion estimation algorithm including Sub-pixel search use the fast search algorithm to speed up motion estimation by targeting the performance of full search in the reference code. This paper proposes a novel fast sub-pixel search control algorithm for H.264 encoder by using neighbor motion vector after analyzing the encoded Motion vector of video sequence. In addition the horizontal/vertical searching method is proposed with the horizontal/vertical directionality of motion vector. And the evaluation is performed with the proposed algorithms and other reference algorithms.
The object of this paper is to make temporal direct mode clear by providing a solution to the following problem : if the co-located block in the list 1 reference picture for direct mode has only the 1ist 1 motion vector or both the 1ist 0 and list 1 motion vectors, then which motion vector will be used for the direct mode motion vector calculation\ulcorner This paper also shows how to derive reference picture index and direct mode motion vector for each list in order to guarantee the high coding efficiency. when the co-located macroblock is in intra mode. Furthermore, the reasonable calculation methods for the direct mode motion vectors in the various cases are presented. Finally, experimental results show that the proposed temporal direct mode provides the comparable performance against the spatial direct mode. Therefore, the simulation proves that the proposed temporal direct mode is acceptable.
To achieve a fast dynamic response and to solve the multi-objective control problems of the output currents, capacitor voltages and system constraints, this paper proposes a deadbeat and hierarchical predictive control with space-vector modulation (DB-HPC-SVM) for five-level nested neutral point piloted (NNPP) converters. First, deadbeat control (DBC) is adopted to track the reference currents by calculating the deadbeat reference voltage vector (DB-RVV). After that, all of the candidate switching sequences that synthesize the DB-RVV are obtained by using the fast SVM principle. Furthermore, according to the redundancies of the switch combination and switching sequence, a hierarchical model predictive control (MPC) is presented to select the optimal switch combination (OSC) and optimal switching sequence (OSS). The proposed DB-HPC-SVM maintains the advantages of DBC and SVM, such as fast dynamic response, zero steady-state error and fixed switching frequency, and combines the characteristics of MPC, such as multi-objective control and simple inclusion of constraints. Finally, comparative simulation and experimental results of a five-level NNPP converter verify the correctness of the proposed DB-HPC-SVM.
In this paper, we study the enhancement of VQ (Vector Quantization) design for text dependent speaker recognition. In a concrete way, we present the non-Iterative method which makes a vector quantization codebook and this method Is nut Iterative learning so that the computational complexity is epochally reduced. The proposed semi-noniterative VQ design method contrasts with the existing design method which uses the iterative learning algorithm for every training speaker. The characteristics of a semi-noniterative VQ design is as follows. First, the proposed method performs the iterative learning only for the reference speaker, but the existing method performs the iterative learning for every speaker. Second, the quantization region of the non-reference speaker is equivalent for a quantization region of the reference speaker. And the quantization point of the non-reference speaker is the optimal point for the statistical distribution of the non-reference speaker In the numerical experiment, we use the 12th met-cepstrum feature vectors of 20 speakers and compare it with the existing method, changing the codebook size from 2 to 32. The recognition rate of the proposed method is 100% for suitable codebook size and adequate training data. It is equal to the recognition rate of the existing method. Therefore the proposed semi-noniterative VQ design method is, reducing computational complexity and maintaining the recognition rate, new alternative proposal.
