In an Ad-hoc network, a method of time synchronizing all the nodes in a network centering on one reference node can be used. A representative algorithm based on a reference node is Flooding Time Synchronization Protocol (FTSP). In the process of sending and receiving messages, predictable and unpredictable delays occur, which should be removed because it hinders accurate time synchronization. In multi-hop communications, hop delays occur when a packet traverses a number of hops. These hop delays significantly degrade the synchronization performance among nodes. Therefore, we need to find a method to reduce these hop delays and increase synchronization performance. In the FTSP scheme, hop delays can be greatly increased depending on the position of a reference node. In addition, in FTSP, a node with the smallest node ID is elected as a reference node, hence, the position of a reference node is actually arbitrarily determined. In this paper, we propose an optimal reference node election algorithm to reduce hop delays, and compare the performance of the proposed scheme with FTSP using the network simulator OPNET. In addition, we verify that the proposed scheme has an improved synchronization performance, which is robust to topology changes.

In this paper, we introduce a frame structure of the satellite TDMA network and the synchronization method thereof. The primary station transmits a special burst called reference burst which provides reference time to network. By using this reference burst all nodes achieve initial acquisition and synchronization. We consider time drift due to the node and satellite mobility, time shift due to the node position, Doppler shift due to the node mobility and frequency offsets as important factors of the frame structure. Simulation results show that the proposed frame structure and synchronization method guarantee accurate synchronization performance when the node is even in low SNR as well as 25 kHz frequency offsets.

This paper designs and implements wake up module for WBAN/USN sensor node which is using dynamic reference voltage demodulation circuit. When a comparator is used in a system for detecting received voltage level, comparator must have a reference voltage. However, the reference voltage is fixed, the system can communicate only a few range because received voltage level is changing widely due to distance of the wireless sensor nodes. Therefore, the proposed wake up module employs a dynamic reference voltage demodulation circuit for increasing communication range.

In this paper, the single-row routing algorithm for munimizing the street congestion and reducing the between node congestion is deviced. To reduce the between node congestion, reference line crossing is defined and used. Reducing the number of total reference line crossing means reducing the total length which help reduce the power consumption of the integrated system and reducing the between node congestin which help reduce the wiring area. This algorithm has been implemented and tested with various example, then produced good results.

Recently, indoor navigation has been applied in large convention centers by using wireless sensor networks (WSNs), which provide not only a user's path to be traveled but also orientation and shopping information to increase user's convenience. This paper presents the localization system for estimating relative coordinates without pre-deployment of the reference node based on ultra wide band (UWB) ranging system, which is relatively suitable for indoor localization compared to other wireless communications, and azimuth sensor. The proposed localization system which consists of an azimuth sensor and a mobile node composed of three nodes estimates relative coordinates of the reference node without applying any recursive and time consumption algorithms. Also, in the process of estimating relative coordinates of the reference node, ranging errors are minimized through the proposed technique and the number of nodes can be reduced. Experimental results show the feasibility and validity of the proposed system.
Low-power long-range networks (LoRa) has a comprehensive coverage of up to 30 km, so that long-range positioning is possible. However, the position error in the current LoRa environment is over 500 m. This makes it difficult to use practical location services in the LoRa environment. In this paper, we propose a method to improve the position accuracy by correcting an inaccurate visual error when sending a signal from a mobile node to a gateway through the reference node of each zone in the LoRa environment. Experiments were carried out using MATLAB, and a radio propagation algorithm, the Hata model, was used to cancel out the stationary noise and to evaluate the environmental noise. Experimental results showed that the error range decreased as the number of reference nodes increased and a mobile node approach the reference node.

Recently, ToA and TDoA estimation are favorable among all of estimation techniques because they have the best accuracy in estimating position. ToA and TDoA estimation are typical techniques based on time. So, it is important to have the time syncronization and offset between a target node and several reference nodes. If they don't have the time syncronization between a reference node and target node or have a time offset among reference nodes, the positioning error will increase due to the ranging error. The conventional positioning algorithm does not have a accurate device's position because ranging error is added the calc dation of the position. In this paper, we propose a hybrid method of ToA and TDoA ll increase due. We use MHP pulse that has orthogonal pulse instead of the existing pulse to transmit and receive pulses between a target node and reference nodes. We can estimate the target node's position by ToA and TDoA estimation to transmit and receive MHP pulses only once. When the proposed Hybrid method iteratively calculate the distance, we can select the ranging technique to have more accurate position. The simulation results confirm the enhancement of the Hybrid method.

Time synchronization of nodes in sensor network synchronizes sensor nodes to one time clock. This is very essential in sensor networks so that the information collected and reported from the sensor nodes becomes meaningful. If sensor nodes are not synchronized, disaster report with time information can be wrong analyzed and this may lead to big calamity. With the limitation of battery and computing power, time synchronization algorithm imported in sensor nodes has to be as simple as it doesn't need big complexity, nor generates many synchronization messages. To reduce the synchronization error, hop count should be kept small between reference node to initiate synchronization and sensor nodes to be synchronized. Therefore, multiple reference nodes are used instead of single reference node. The use of multiple reference nodes introduce the requirement of synchronization among reference nodes in the network. Several algorithms have been proposed till now, but the synchronization among reference nodes are not well considered. This paper proposes improved time synchronization for sensor networks by synchronizing multiple reference nodes inside the network. Through simulation, we validated the effects of new algorithm.

We combined CC2431(Chipcon, Norway), as the platform for the Indoor Location Tracking, which follows Zigbee/IEEE802.15.4 standards in RSSI (Received Signal Strength Indicator) and Base Station Node and then, embodied Indoor Location Tracking System. CC2431 is composed of the Reference Node that transfer its current position at the designated place and the Blind Node. The Blind node receives the current position(X and Y coordinates) of the Reference Node fields which are being contiguous and also, calculates its current position and transfers it to the Base Station Node. The base station node is used for receiving the current position of blind node and passing its data to the PC as a gateway. We can make sure where is the Blind Node not only from the out-of-the-way place of the server side but from the outside in a real-time.

When GPS signals are not available, a relative localization can be alternatively used to represent the topological relationship between mobile nodes. A relative location map of a network can be constructed by using the distance information between all the pairs of nodes in the network. If a network is large, a number of small local maps are individually constructed and are merged to obtain the whole map. However, this approach may result in a high computation and communication overhead. In this paper, we propose a reference-node selection scheme for relative localization map construction, which chooses a subset of nodes as a reference node that is supposed to construct local maps. The scheme is a greedy algorithm that iteratively chooses nodes with high degree as a reference node until the chosen local maps are successfully merged with a sufficient number of common nodes between nearby local maps. The simulation results indicate that the proposed scheme achieves higher localization accuracy with a reduced computational overhead.
