This study was conducted to evaluate on the freezing tolerance of introduced blueberry cultivars in Korea and to investigate availability of portable timber moisture meter for simple and rapid diagnosis of blueberry-shoot damage by freezing during wintering. Frost tolerance of blueberry cultivars showed big difference that rates of blueberry-shoot death were widely distributed from about 0% to 100% after wintering. Optical density in TTC reduction of blueberry twig treated low temperature was low in order of $-40^{\circ}C$ < $-21^{\circ}C$ < $4^{\circ}C$. Hardiness evaluation of visible injury in the cross-sectional surface color did not agree with that of rates of blueberry-shoot death during wintering. Lowest water content of blueberry stem measured by timber moisture tester during wintering was about 15%. During wintering, water contents of blueberry stems were higher at lower part of tree, but were low at end part of stems, and then when the blueberry grew again for spring, the water content gradually increased to 20~40%. Water content of blueberry stem with freezing injury during wintering decreased to under 5% by desiccation. Therefore it is assummed that the moisture content of blueberry stem injured by freezing during wintering was about under 14%, and it is expected that portable timber moisture meter could be available for rapid diagnosis of blueberry freezing injury in field.
Background Nipple-sparing mastectomies (NSMs) are increasingly performed to obtain the best aesthetic and psychological outcomes in breast cancer treatment. However, merely preserving the nipple-areolar complex (NAC) does not guarantee a good outcome. Darkly pigmented NACs and a tendency for poor scarring outcomes are particular challenges when treating Asian patients. Herein, we review the reconstructive outcomes following NSM at Singapore General Hospital. Methods All breasts reconstructed following NSM over an 11-year period from 2005 to 2015 were reviewed. Information was collected from the patients' records on mastectomy indications, operative details, and complications. Patient satisfaction, breast sensation, and aesthetic outcomes were evaluated in 15 patients. Sensation was quantified using the Semmes-Weinstein monofilament test. Results A total of 142 NSMs were performed in 133 patients for breast cancer (n=122, 85.9%) or risk reduction (n=20, 14.1%). Of the procedures, 114 (80.2%) were autologous reconstructions, while 27 (19.0%) were reconstructions with implants. Complications occurred in 28 breasts (19.7%), with the most common complication being NAC necrosis, which occurred in 17 breasts (12.0%). Four breasts (2.8%) had total NAC necrosis. The overall mean patient satisfaction score was 3.0 (good). The sensation scores were significantly diminished in the skin envelope, areola, and nipple of breasts that had undergone NSM compared to non-operated breasts (P<0.05). Half of the subset of 15 patients in whom aesthetic outcomes were evaluated had reduced nipple projection. Conclusions Immediate reconstruction after NSM was performed with a low complication rate in this series, predominantly through autologous reconstruction. Patients should be informed of potential drawbacks, including NAC necrosis, reduced nipple projection, and diminished sensation.

The purpose of this study was to determine if a geriatric injury would have a statistically significant relationship with the spatial safety within a specific region. To achieve the objectives of this study, an independent sample t-test and One-way ANOVA were performed to verify difference in mean value of regional safety grade, depending on the injury intentionality, injury location, activities at the time of injury, and injury mechanism, in 6,572 geriatric injury patients by combining the National Hospital Discharge Patients Injury Survey data and regional safety index data. The results of statistical validation suggested that there was no difference in the mean value of regional safety grade by sub-group with respect to the injury intentionality. However, a statistically significant difference was observed in terms of the mean value of regional safety grade in each sub-group with regard to the injury location, activities at the time of injury, and injury mechanism in connection with some areas of the regional safety index. Based on the results of such analysis, we derived and presented 3 implications related to policies and practice for the prevention of geriatric injury and a reduction of its occurrence rate in light of spatial safety after a discussion of the results through a comparison with previous studies that examined individual areas.
The purpose of this study was to develop a respiratory synchronization device for X-ray (X-RSD) to increase the reproducibility of inspiration when examining the Chest X-ray of a patient who difficulty in breathing coordination. The X-RSD was self-made using an air pressure sensor and air was injected by connecting a ventilator to the mannequin for CPR. At this time, the amount of injected air was quantified using the SkillReporting device. After placing the X-RSD on the chest of the mannequin, the amount of air was tested in 6 steps from 200 to 700 cc by 100 cc increased. For the accuracy evaluation, the sensitivity of X-RSD was measured by repeating a total of 80 measurements, and the sensitivity was 100%, and very precise results were obtained. After that, the images examined while viewing the X-RSD of the chest lateral examination and the images obtained by the blind examination were compared and evaluated. The lung volume of X-RSD was larger than that of the blind test, and the deviation was smaller. Overall, the use of X-RSD can help with chest X-ray examination of patients who have difficulty in cooperating, and it is thought that it will be possible to contribute to the reduction of exposure dose by reducing the repeat rate of general X-ray examinations.
Recently, peoples are greatly concerned with global temperature change because global warming can be a potential serious effect on agriculture production such as yield reduction and poor grain quality. On the other hand, it can bring some beneficial effects through twice cultivation of rice in temperate region. In order to overcome this situation, we developed extremely early-maturing rice 'Milyang255' which heading date was similar with 'Jinbuolbyeo'. Based on agronomic characteristics of 'Milyang255', it has very short stature as 65 cm of culm length and slightly lower spikelets number per panicle compared with that of 'Jinbuolbyeo'. However, the grain appearance, palatability and other items were better than those of 'Jinbuolbyeo' in panel test of cooked rice. The milled rice yield of 'Milyang255' is 3.94 MT/ha at the early transplanting. Especially, its grain filling rate was higher and faster than Jinbuolbyeo and the head rice ratio in milled rice was also higher. Thus, 'Milyang255' can efficiently reduce the growth duration of rice cultivation and also be useful material for research on twice cultivation of rice in Korea.

Typically, contaminated sediments cause clogging of the drain pipe, which increases the residual water pressure in the drain pipe; this study constructed a system for improving drainage efficiency of tunnels by reducing physical and chemical obstructions through ultrasonic energy generated by a PVDF film. The developed hybrid drainage system utilized a PVDF material film fused with an existing drainage tunnel and maintenance system resulting in the ability to initialize the reverse piezoelectric effect, which was evaluated through an on site application. In order to investigate the maintenance performance of the tunnel drainage system, contaminated sediments were simulated in a drainage pipe to test the effect of ultrasonic conditions on drainage efficiency in the laboratory. As a result of applying the developed portable equipment, the ultrasonic energy was generated for about 20 minutes resulting in a reduction of 74.62% of the contaminated sediments and improving drainage efficiency. From the tunnel, acoustic pressure measurements were taken to calculate the response rate while taking into account the laboratory results. In addition, PVDF film was attached to the transverse and longitudinal side of the drainage pipes where contaminated sediments occur most often in the field tunnel. these calculations show contaminant removal was 90% effective.

Facial motor evoked potential (FMEP) by multi-pulse transcranial electrical stimulation (mpTES) can complement free-running electromyography (EMG) and direct facial nerve stimulation to predict the functional integrity of the facial nerve during cerebello-pontine angle (CPA) tumor surgery. The purpose of this paper is to examine the standardized test methods and the usefulness of FMEP as a predictor of facial nerve function and to minimize the incidence of facial paralysis as an aftereffect of surgery. TES was delivered through electrode Mz (cathode) - M3/M4 (anode), and extracranially direct distal facial muscle excitation was excluded by the absence of single pulse response (SPR) and by longer onset latency (more than 10 ms). FMEP from the orbicularis oris (o.oris) and the mentalis muscle simultaneously can improve the accuracy and success rate compared with FMEP from the o.oris alone. Using the methods described, we can effectively predict facial nerve outcomes immediately after surgery with a reduction of more than 50% of FMEP amplitude as a warning criterion. In conclusion, along with free-running EMG and direct facial nerve stimulation, FMEP is a useful method to reduce the incidence of facial paralysis as a sequela during CPA tumor surgery.
There is a growing demand for natural materials to replace adhesives based on volatile organic compounds (VOCs). However, the exclusion of VOCs from the manufacturing process leads to difficulties in manufacturing, and reduction in productivity and preservability. In this paper, we report the manufacture of natural bioadhesives using the carrageenan component of seaweed. λ-carrageenan, isolated from the extracted total carrageenan, was used to prepare a highly stable adhesive for paper. The resulting composition was 52.0 ± 1.0% λ-carrageenan, 30.5 ± 0.5% Polyvinylpyrrolidone, 1.0 ± 0.05% ethylhexylglycerin, 1.5 ± 0.05% glycerin, 13.5 ± 0.5% dextrine, and 0.6 ± 0.05% food-grade antifoam emulsion. The viscosity was found to be 1.13 ± 0.07 × 105 cP (25℃), UV degradation occurred at pH6.22, drying rate was 15min, △b* was -10.79, and △E* ab was 8.18. The bioadhesive showed an excellent adhesion strength of 44.63 kgf/cm2. Thus this adhesive showed excellent fungal resistance and good adhesive persistence, without the presence of total volatile organic compounds (TVOC), formaldehyde (HCHO), and heavy metals.
The demand for information related to 3D spatial objects model in metaverse, smart cities, digital twins, autonomous vehicles, urban air mobility will be increased. 3D model construction for spatial objects is possible with various equipments such as satellite-, aerial-, ground platforms and technologies such as modeling, artificial intelligence, image matching. However, it is not easy to quickly detect and convert spatial objects that need updating. In this study, based on spatial information (features) and attributes, using matching elements such as address code, number of floors, building name, and area, the converged building DB and the detected building DB are constructed. Both to support above and to verify the suitability of object selection that needs to be updated, one system prototype was developed. When constructing the converged building DB, the convergence of spatial information and attributes was impossible or failed in some buildings, and the matching rate was low at about 80%. It is believed that this is due to omitting of attributes about many building objects, especially in the pilot test area. This system prototype will support the establishment of an efficient drone shooting plan for the rapid update of 3D spatial objects, thereby preventing duplication and unnecessary construction of spatial objects, thereby greatly contributing to object improvement and cost reduction.
In general, electric submersible pumps (ESPs), which have an average life of 1.0 to 1.5 years, experience a decrease in performance and a reduction in life of the pump depending on oil and gas reservoir characteristics and operating conditions in wells. As the result, the failure of ESP causes high well workover costs due to retrieval and installation, and additional costs due to shut down. In this study, a flow loop system was designed and established to predict the life of ESP in longterm operation of oil and gas wells, and the life cycle data of ESP from the time of installation to the time of failure was acquired and analyzed. Among the data acquired from the system, flow rate, inlet and outlet temperature and pressure, and the data of the vibrator installed on the outside of ESP were analyzed, and then the performance status according to long-term operation was classified into five stages: normal, advice I, advice II, maintenance, and failed. Through the experiments, it was found that there was a difference in the data trend by stage during the longterm operation of the ESP, and then the condition of the ESP was diagnosed and the failure of the pump was predicted according to the operating time. The results derived from this study can be used to develop a failure prediction program and data analysis algorithm for monitoring the condition of ESPs operated in oil and gas wells.
