The properties of pcc using BOF-slag were investigated in order to use as fine aggregate, which has been made in the steel making process and stabilized by air-jet method. The fluidity of flesh concrete has been improved with the usage of BOF-slag and it should be noted that the air content goes up. The compressive strength of hardened concrete was reduced at weight fraction over 50$\%$ and Young's modulus tends toward the trivial change. Also, the flexural and tensile strengths were increased with the usage, especially, the rupture values were increased to 1.2 times at the weight fraction of 30$\%$.
The effects of fluxes on MgO coating materials for tundish were investigated. As the number of charge in continuous casting was increased, the basicity of tundish slag was decreased due to the increase of silica formed by dissolution from rice hull. As a result, the wear of magnesia lining was increased. In aggregates of MgO coating materials, magnesioferrite was formed by the reaction between magnesia and ferric oxide formed by the oxidation of molten steel, while matrix parts of MgO coating materials were worn by CaO-Al2O3-SiO2 compounds. Silica in rice hull extracted to the molten slag reduced basicity of slag and formed forsterite in the result of its reaction with magnesia lining. Also, fayalite was formed from the reaction between silica and ferric oxide and it caused the increment of magnesia lining's wear. The wear of magnesia lining by flux of CaO-SiO2 was larger than that of Cao-Al2O3 and calcia in the flux increased the wear of magnesia lining through the formation of rankinite.

The aim of this study is to investigate the properties of hardened mortar with chlorine by-pass system(CBS) in cement production in blast furnace slag(BS) mixed cement. Compressive strength had a tendency to be increased when the CBS Dust was replaced by 10% at the BS replacement rate of 0%. The 65% combination of BS showed a tendency to decrease as the CBS Dust exchange rate increases. Flexural strength was reduced as CBS Dust exchange rate increases in BS replacement ratio of 0%. The use of 5% of CBS dust can contribute to enhance the quality of non reinforced concrete.
This research aimed to investigate the influence of high-volume mineral admixtures (MAs), i.e., fly ash and slag, on the hydration characteristics and microstructures of cement pastes. Degree of cement hydration was quantified by the loss-on-ignition technique and degree of pozzolanic reaction was determined by a selective dissolution method. The influence of MAs on the pore structure of paste was measured by mercury intrusion porosimetry. The results showed that the hydration properties of the blended pastes were a function of water to binder ratio, cement replacement level by MAs, and curing age. Pastes containing fly ash exhibited strongly reduced early strength, especially for mix with 45% fly ash. Moreover, at a similar cement replacement level, slag incorporated cement paste showed higher degrees of cement hydration and pozzolanic reaction than that of fly ash incorporated cement paste. Thus, the present study demonstrates that high substitution rates of slag for cement result in better effects on the short- and long-term hydration properties of cement pastes.

In this paper, the characteristics of slag cement mortar added with neutralized liquid red mud with sulfuric acid and reduced pH were reviewed to improve the strength degradation of cement concrete added with liquid red mud. As a result, in the case of compressive strength up to 7 days, the strength of the cement mortar added with liquid red mud tends to increase compared to Plain. This shows that adding liquid red mud to cement mortar tends to increase the initial age strength, and the compressive strength on the 28th shows 74% of Plain when adding non-neutralized liquid red mud and 89% when adding sulfate neutralized red mud. Therefore, it is judged that the compression strength is improved by neutralizing the liquid red mud with sulfuric acid.
In order to maximize the recycling of converter slag to the more valuable fields, such as high quality aggregates for construction, cement industry and flux for ion making. It will be very important to control the compositions and properties of converter slag to suit the purpose of utilizastion. In this study, converter slag (STELCO, CANADA) was mixed with 5%~30% $SiO_2$and 7% carbon, and then reduced at $1650^{\circ}C$. After the reduction was completed, the reformed slags were cooled to room temperature in the furnace. All of the slags were then characterized using SEM-EDX, XRD and chemical analysis. Also the compressive strengths and densities of the reformed slags were measured to compare with natural aggregates. XRD analysis shows that th phases of reformed slags are changed from bredigite+merwinite mixed phases of 10% $SiO_2$added reduction to akermanite phases of 20% and 30% $SiO_2$ added reduction. But the SEM-EDX analysis revealed that the phase distribution of the reformed slags was changed very sensitively and complicately depends on the change of slag compositions. And also the properties of reformed slags are changed very much depend on the phase distribution. About one third of Cadmium and on fifth of Vanadium are remained in reduction reformed converter slag. Another heavy metal elements such as cobalt, zinc, lead are removed up to more than 90-95% of original slag. The compressive strength and density of 25% $SiO_2$ added and reformed slag is very near to natural granite. This is superior more than 10% to Thyssen's $SiO_2$ added and oxidized converter slag aggregates.

In this study, we have studied hydration properties and compressive strength of the electric arc furnace reduction slag as a cement admixture. The reduction slag is mainly consisted of 17.1% of f-CaO and rapid curing clinker minerals, 37.1% of $C_{11}A_7CaF_2$, and 21.0% of $C_3A$. When the substitution rate of the slag on OPC was 30%, the initial setting time and final setting time has been shortened from 305 min. and 425 min. to 10min. and 30min. When the substitution rate of the slag on OPC was 7%, the compressive strength of mixed cement mortars has been increased than that of OPC during all period. When the substitution rate of the slag on OPC was over 20%, the compressive strength of mortars has been reduced than that of OPC at initial and final compressive strength. As a result of hydration properties of reduction slag, $C_{11}A_7CaF_2$ transfer to $C_3AH_6$ but as the substitution rate of slag on OPC increases, increased f-CaO and the metastable hydrates $C_4AH_{13}$ increased. Therefore, we should control the substitution rate of the slag on OPC was under 7% in order to use EAF reduction slag as a cement admixture.

In this study, the environmental implications of electric arc furnace steel slag, commonly used in road construction and soil reinforcement, were examined. Experiments were conducted to assess the leaching of heavy metals based on particle size and to investigate ion leaching from specimens with varying mixtures of steel slag and clay. The official waste test revealed no detectable heavy metals in the sample items. However, when subjected to leaching experiments and analyzed using ICP-OES, certain heavy metals were found. The reaction of steel slag with water, facilitated by free CaO within the slag, was identified as the cause of leaching. Results showed that aluminum, exhibiting the highest leaching rate, displayed an inverse relationship with particle size. In mixed soil containing steel slag and clay, higher steel slag content resulted in increased aluminum leaching. Nonetheless, the quantity of leached aluminum was notably lower in mixed soil compared to pure steel slag. Furthermore, leaching of other heavy metals remained within acceptable limits. These findings suggest that recycling mixed soil of steel slag and clay for road construction or soil stabilization presents reduced environmental risks compared to using steel slag alone. Utilizing such mixtures could offer an environmentally sustainable and safe alternative.
Geopolymers have many advantages over Portland cement, including energy efficiency, reduced greenhouse gas emissions, high strength at early age and improved thermal resistance. Alkali activated geopolymers made from waste materials such as fly ash or blast furnace slag are particularly advantageous because of their environmental sustainability and low cost. However, their durability and functionality remain subjects for further study. Geopolymer materials can be used in various applications such as fire and heat resistant fiber composites, sealants, concretes, ceramics, etc., depending on the chemical composition of the source materials and the activators. In this study, we investigated the thermal properties and microstructure of fly ash and blast furnace slag based geopolymers in order to develop eco-friendly construction materials with excellent energy efficiency, sound insulation properties and good heat resistance. With different curing times, specimens of various compositions were investigated in terms of compressive strength, X-ray diffraction, thermal property and microstructure. In addition, we investigated changes in X-ray diffraction and microstructure for geopolymers exposed to $1,000^{\circ}C$ heat.
