A Design of Linear State Observers for Motorized Seat Belt System (전동식 안전벨트 시스템의 선형 상태 관측기 설계)

  • This paper describes a design and a verification of linear state observers for a motorized seat belt system to estimate state information such as angular velocity and load torque. The motorized seat belt system provides functions to protect passengers and improve passenger's convenience. To realize these functions, sensors which can measure an angular velocity and load torque are needed. By use of the linear state observer, state information can be estimated without sensors. The motorized seat belt system is analysed and represented as a state space model which contains load torque as an augmented state. By the developed state space model, a full and reduced order observer are designed and verified by experiments. The full and reduced order observer are also compared from points of view of execution time and noise robustness.

  • Results of flat plate compressible boundary layer calculation, based on discrete formulation of DSMC method, are presented in low Mach number and low Knudsen number range. The free stream is a uniform flow of pure nitrogen at various Mach numbers in low pressures (i.e. rarefied gas). Complete thermal accommodation and diffuse molecular reflections are used as the wall boundary condition, replacing unreal no-slip condition used in continuum calculations. In the discrete formulation of DSMC method, there is no need to use ad hoc assumptions on transport properties like viscosity and thermal conductivity, instead viscosity is calculated from values of other field variables (velocity and shear stress). Also the results are compared with existing self-similar continuum solutions. In all Mach number cases computed, velocity slip is most pronounced in regions near the leading edge where continuum formulation renders the solution singular. As the boundary layer develops further downstream, velocity slips asymptote to values that are between 10 to 20% of the magnitude of free stream velocity. When the free stream number density is reduced, so the gas more rarefied, the velocity slip increases as expected.

  • This paper consider an initially deformed state caused by the pressurized fluid flowing through the pipe at a constant velocity. When the initial forte is neglected in curved pipes, the natural frequencies are reduced as flow velocity increases. However, when the initial tension took into account, the natural frequencies are not changed with the change of the flow velocity. As the internal pipe pressure is increased the natural frequencies are also slightly increased. In free vibrational simulation of piping systems in petrochemical plants, it is necessary to calculate the initial state force due to the velocity and the pressure of the fluid flow from the equilibrium first, then the force should be included in the equation of motion of the systems to get more accurate natural frequencies. Shear wave velocity of sands subject to large strain triaxial loading

  • Shear wave velocities of three selected sandy soils subject to drained triaxial compression test were continuously measured using the bender elements. The shear wave velocity during isotropic compression, as widely recognized, increased as confining pressure increased and they were correlated well. However, during drained shearing, the mean effective stress could no further provide a suitable correlation. The shear wave velocity during this stage was almost constant with respect to the mean effective stress. The vertical stress was found to be more favorable at this stage (since confining stress was kept constant). When sample was attained its peak stress, the shear wave velocity reduced and deviated from the previously existed trend line. This was probably caused by the non-uniformity induced by the formation of shear band. Subsequently, void ratios computed based on external measurements could not provide reasonable fitting to the initial stage of post-peak shear wave velocity. At very large strain levels after shear band formation, the digital images revealed that sample may internally re-arrange itself to be in a more uniform loose stage. This final stage void ratio estimated based on the proposed correlation derived during pre-peak state was close to the value of the maximum void ratio.

Wheel flange lubricator are reduced the abrasion of wheel flange through spraying in accordance with operating on the curve or operating function of time base and/or distance base. this paper is written to introduce and study the efficiency for the angular velocity sensing type of lubricant systems.

  • Tracings streamlines in global coordinate, especially with finite element mesh, requires much computation due to C0 continuity of velocity field. In this study, a new approach is presented for the determination of streamlines from velocity field obtained by FE analysis. It is shown that amount of calculation can be drastically reduced and boundary of element can be easily treated. The approach is applied to the problem of free surface of deforming workpieces in shape rolling.

The Effects of Trunk Muscle Strength Training on Sitting Balance of Children with Spastic Cerebral Palsy (체간 근력 강화 훈련이 경직성 뇌성마비아의 앉은 자세 균형에 미치는 효과)

  • The purpose of study was to evaluate effects of a trunk muscle strength training on sitting balance of children with spastic cerebral palsy. Five individuals with spastic cerebral palsy(three females. two males; mean aged 6.6) participated three times a week over 6 weeks. Five individuals with spastic cerebral palsy(three females. two males; mean aged 7.0) who did not receive strength training served as control. BPM(Balance Performance Moniter) was used to measured sitting balance and EMG(electromyograph, NORAXON, USA) was used to measured activities of abdominal and erector spine muscle. The obtain result are as follows. 1. The result of this study were following that maximum perturbation area and perturbation velocity were significantly reduced strength training group compared with control group(p<.05). 2. The result of this study were following that maximum perturbation area and perturbation velocity were significantly reduced after strength training compared with pre strength training in strength training group(p<.05). 3. The result of this study were following that maximum perturbation area and perturbation velocity were not significantly reduced at interval of six week in control group(p<.05). 4. The result of this study were following that abdominal muscle activity was significantly increased strength training group compared with control group(p<.05). 5. The result of this study were following that erector spine muscle activity was significantly increased strength training group compared with control group(p<.05). 6. The result of this study were following that abdominal muscle activity and erector spine muscle were significantly increased after strength training compared with pre strength training in strength training group(p<.05). 7. The result of this study were following that abdominal muscle activity and erector spine muscle were not significantly increased at interval of six week in control group(p<.05). In conclusion, the result of this study suggest that improved sitting balance and increased activities of trunk muscle by trunk strength training in spastic cerebral palsy. The result was proposed that therapeutic approach of spastic cerebral palsy with impaired sitting balance should use trunk strength training.

A Study on Floating Collar of Dragged Gears (인망그물의 부양깃판에 관하여)

  • In order to improve the net-mouth height of dragged gears, the authors devised models of floatingcollars of nylon cloth instead of floats and experimented with 4 types-A type (length 65em, breadth 3em), B type (length 65em, breadth 4em), C type (length 65em, breadth 5em) and D type (length 65 em, breadth 6em) attached respectively to the front edge of square of a model net after preliminary experimentation. These various types of floating collars were experimented in a circulating water channel to evaluate the characteristics of net-mouth height and hydrodynamic resistance and the effect of the length of bridles were also examined. The results obtained were as follows: 1. In case of attaching floats, the model net-mouth height reduced from 80 em to 20 em when current velocity was increased from 0.25m/see to 1m/sec. 2. In case of attaching floating collars, the model net-mouth heights were maintained 70 em, 71 em, 80 em, 78 em in maximum and 55 em, 63 em, 69 em, 73 em in minimum respectively even the current volocity was increased from 0.25 m/see to 1 m/see. 3. The model net-mouth height was reduced to 10 em maximum according to the current velocity and types of floating collars when the bridles were shortened 3~4 mm in length. 4. Hydrodynamic resistance of D type only was increased to 700 g in maximum and those of A, B, C type were reduced to 460 g in maximum at current velocity beyond 0.5 m/ see when bridles were shortened 3-4 mm in length. 5. But the model net-mouth heights became higher in accordance with breadth of floating coliars, B type was the best for this model net in case that hydrodynamic resistance was taken into account.

Identification of venular capillary remodelling: a possible link to the development of periodontitis?

  • Purpose: The present study measured changes in arteriolar and venular capillary flow and structure in the gingival tissues during the development of plaque-induced gingival inflammation by combining dynamic optical coherence tomography (OCT), laser perfusion, and capillaroscopic video imaging. Methods: Gingival inflammation was induced in 21 healthy volunteers over a 3-week period. Gingival blood flow and capillary morphology were measured by dynamic OCT, laser perfusion imaging, and capillaroscopy, including a baseline assessment of capillary glycocalyx thickness. Venular capillary flow was estimated by analysis of the perfusion images and mean blood velocity/acceleration in the capillaroscopic images. Readings were recorded at baseline and weekly over the 3 weeks of plaque accumulation and 2 weeks after brushing was resumed. Results: Perfusion imaging demonstrated a significant reduction of gingival blood flow after 1 and 2 weeks of plaque accumulation (P<0.05), but by 3 weeks of plaque accumulation there was a more mixed picture, with reduced flow in some participants and increased flow in others. Participants with reduced flux at 3 weeks also demonstrated venular-type flow as determined by perfusion images and evidence of the development of venular capillaries as assessed by the velocity/acceleration ratio in capillaroscopic images. After brushing resumed, these venular capillaries were broken down and replaced by arteriolar capillaries. Conclusions: After 3 weeks of plaque accumulation, there was wide variation in microvascular reactions between the participants. Reduced capillary flow was associated with the development of venular capillaries in some individuals. This is noteworthy, as an early increase in venous capillaries is a key vascular feature of cardiovascular disease, psoriasis, Sjögren syndrome, and rheumatoid arthritis-diseases with a significant association with the development of severe gingival inflammation, which leads to periodontitis. Future investigations of microvascular changes in gingival inflammation might benefit from accurate capillary flow velocity measurements to assess the development of venular capillaries.

Analysis of Gait Velocity, Stance time on Obstacle and Dual Task Gait in Elderly Women with LBP (요통 여성 노인의 장애물과 이중 과제 보행 시 속도 및 입각기 시간 분석)

  • Purpose : This study was to evaluate gait velocity and stance time on 5 conditions in elderly women and elderly women with LBP. The subjects were 70's generation. Methods : The subjects are 20 divided into 2 groups. They measured gait velocity, stance-time. The 5 conditions were normal gait, 10cm obstacle gait, 25cm obstacle gait, dual 10cm obstacle gait, dual 25cm obstacle gait. The experimental period was between 2008/12 and 2009/2. Statistical analysis was used Repeated measurement for difference between conditions, independent t-test for difference in two groups. Subjects were countdown from 50 during dual task gait. Results : The results were as follow: there were significantly difference 10cm obstacle velocity, dual 10cm obstacle velocity in two group. The others were not significantly differences. Velocity and stance-time were significantly difference in control group. In dual 25cm obstacle gait, velocity was difference of normal gait. Stance-time was difference in 25cm obstacle gait, and dual 25cm obstacle gait. In Experimental group, velocity and stance-time were not significantly difference. But measured value of velocity was gradually decreased and stance time was increased. Conclusion : These results indicate that elderly people with LBP women are reduced gait ability in dual task, and obstacle condition. So they need to prevent falling in dual task, and obstacle gait and to train obstacle/dual tak gait.
