  • White light emitting device based on a red fluorescence material (5,6,11,12)-Tetraphenylnaphthacene(Rubrene) has been fabricated. The white OLED consists of it and a blue phosphorescent material FIrPic (iridum-bis(4,6,-difluorophenylpyridinato-N,C2)-picolinate) The threshold voltage is 5.3V, and the brightness reaches $1000\;cd/m^2$ at 11V, $14.5\;mA/cm^2$. The color of the light corresponds to a CIE coordinate of (0.30, 0.38). The highest efficiency of the device can reach 9.5 cd/A or 5.5 1m/W at 6V, $0.1mA/cm^2$.

  • In this study, the characteristics of the 2-wavelength white organic light-emitting diod (WOLED) with two colors of yellow and blue were compared and analyzed with 3-wavelength WOLED with three colors of red, green, and blue. The results indicated that the power efficiency of the 2-wavelength WOLED was 1.6 times higher than 3-wavelength WOLED. In addition, the colot coordinate of the 2-wavelenth WOLED which was (0.34, 0.39) was found closer to the optimal color coordinate for the white-lighting application when compared with that of the 3-wavelength WOLED.

  • Recently, display technology has been focused in regard with with color reproduction, contrast ratio, image resolution and color bit. Among these technologies, the color reproducibliity of White, Red, Green, and Blue is associated with the TV plaform and is expressed as a major technology. Major TV platforms are divided into three categories since 2015, including LCD-based phosphor coverted LED BLU technology, QD sheet technology using nano-sized quantum dots, and OLED technology. In this paper, we describe the color reproducibility definition and background, luminescent materials with wide color gamut, color reproducibility of TV display performance, and discuss about next luminescent materials.

  • We present an extremely high efficient red organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs) using a fluorescent dye 4-(dicyanomethylene)-2-tert-butyl-6-(1,1,7,7-tetramethyljulolidyl-9-enyl)-4H-pyran (DCJTB) doped into an emitting region which consists of multiple pairs of a doped and an undoped layer. An emitting region of OLEDs composes of a tris-(8-hydroxyquinolinato) aluminum (Alq3) codoped with rubrene of 5% wt. or a mixture of Alq3 and rubrene (1:1). The luminance yield of the codoped device and the mixed device are 6.5 cd/A and 9.2 cd/A at 10 mA/$cm^2$, respectively. We have considerably improved the luminance yields of red OLEDs as much as ${\sim}$90% at 10 mA/$cm^2$ compared with that of the device doped with only DCJTB. We attribute it to both the emitting assist dopant (rubrene) and the dotted-line doping structure in an emitting region of OLED.

  • We report the efficient red light-emitting diodes based on the fluorescent dye 4-(dicyanomethylene)-2-i-propyl-6-(1,1,7,7-tetramethyljulolidyl-9-enyl)-4H-pyran (DCJTI) and 5,6,11,12-tetraphenyl naphthacene (rubrene) codoped in the tris(8-hydroxyquinoline)aluminum $(Alq_3)$. Luminance efficiency of 2.2 cd/A with a Commission International De L'Eclairage (CIE) chromaticity coordinate of x, y = (0.640, 0:350) are achieved at the driving current density of $20\;mA/cm^2$. Adding the rubrene to the DCJTI in tris(8-hydroxyquinoline)aluminum $(Alq_3)$, the red color purity and luminance efficiency improved comparing to the DCJTI only doped devices because the rubrene molecules assist the polarization effect of DCJTI by molecular interaction and enhance the energy transfer from $(Alq_3)$ to DCJTI.

  • Tandem white organic light emitting diodes (WOLEDs) are fabricated by using a transparent interconnecting layer of Al:LiF composite/molybdenum oxides ($MoO_3$). We demonstrate two types of tandem WOLEDs consisting of two color emissions (red and blue emission) and three color emissions (red, green and blue emission). Tandem WOLED consisting of three color emission shows higher external quantum efficiency and current efficiency.

  • We report simple structure red phosphorescent devices comprising only single organic layer structure. Maximum current efficiency of 9.44 cd/A and the driving voltage of 5.4 V are obtained in this single layer structure PHOLEDs, respectively. The mixed host system using electron transporting and hole transporting materials doped with $Ir(piq)_3$ provides such high efficiency and reasonable driving voltage. The principal to simplification is the direct charges injection from the metallic electrodes into mixed host materials.

  • ABCV-Py, a new red fluorescent material, in which two identical electron donor (dimethylamino group) and acceptor (cyano group) moieties are linked to two independent biphenyl groups which share the same core phenyl, has been synthesized for use in OLED application. Performance of red doped electroluminescent devices using ABCV-Py as dopant were measured with various host materials, $Alq_3$, CBP, DPVBi, and p-terphenyl. The performance of device with DPVBi host material was better than those with other host materials and high doping concentration could be applied on device with ABCV-Py as dopant.

  • In generally, the guest-emitter doped system has been reported to give a bright electroluminescence(EL). The purpose of using doped system is to improve for increasing lifetime and efficiency, and tuning multicolor light. This indicates an enhanced electron-hole recombination rate in emitting layer. The purpose of this study is to obtain the high performance EL devices for flat panel display with red emission. We fabricated EL devices using the guest-host system. where DCM derivatives were taken as a dopant. The devices are fabricated in multilayer system with various concentration of the dopant (red light emitting dye). We measured the I-V characteristics and EL spectra from these devices. and we compared with photoluminescence(PL) quantum yield among the DCM derivatives. The emission mechanism of devices is participated in energy transfer. The energy transfer from these hosts to DCM generates luminescence spectra that vary from yellow red to red, depending on DCM derivatives. Absorption and emission spectra of organic materials composing the devices depend on the emission materials doped with the DCM derivatives. We demonstrated that the high EL efficiency can be achieved by doping host material with DCM derivatives and molecular steric structures
