Development of a pre-treatment and recycled chip manufacturing device for recycling biodegradable gillnet waste fishing gear (생분해 자망 폐어구 재활용을 위한 전처리 및 재생칩 제조 장치 개발)

  • In response to the global interest and efforts towards reducing plastic use and promoting resource recycling, there is a growing need to establish methods for recycling discarded fishing gear. In Korea, various technologies are being developed to recycle discarded fishing gear, but significant technical and policy challenges still remain. In particular, biodegradable gill nets require a pre-treatment process to separate biodegradable materials from other substances and to remove salt before recycling. Therefore, this study aims to develop a pre-treatment device for recycling biodegradable gill nets and to evaluate the feasibility of recycling them.

  • Once-used $CO_2$-silicate bonded sand from domestic foundry is mostly discarded in a reclaimed land because of its bad collapsibility and reproduction properties. So this causes serious environmental problem. We can get 82% recovery of silica from used sand by scrubbing reclamation process in this research. When we repeat the reclamation-recycling of the foundry sand, artificial silica sand is broken down below 2-cycles, but natural silica sand does not destroyed when used repeatedly more than 10-cycles and have a good property of recycling with little change of its size.

  • South Korea has made remarkable achievements and gained many experiences on waste disposal and recycling, which help our country to develop cyclic economy and construct a harmonious society. This paper summarizes the policies, regulations and specific practices on waste disposal and recycling including industrial waste and household waste in South Korea so as to provide some references for the establishment of policies related to the waste recycling in our country.

  • Recently, it is necessary to establish an eco-friendly construction system through recycling of waste material management at construction sites. This is required to reflect the times that require a carbon reduction system in construction as part of domestic and overseas carbon dioxide reduction. Therefore, we intend to establish eco-friendly construction management as part of resource recycling and carbon reduction through recycling technology for waste fibers generated at construction sites.

  • As a follow-up to our previous work we present in this paper some experimental results on LED light recycling. Specifically we demonstrate for the first time that screen brightness can be increased using our light pipe based light recycling scheme for reallife projection display applications.
