The objective of this study is to modify the mixture proportions of concrete that were developed for section enlargement strengthening elements using a specially designed binder composed of 5% ultra-rapid hardening cement, 10% polymer, and 85% ordinary portland cement in order to assign the self-compaction property to such concrete. The self-compaction abilities of concrete were estimated by the performance criteria specified in JSCE and EFNARC provions. Test results showed that the increase in the unit binder content at the consistent water-to-bider ratio led to increase in viscosity of fresh concrete but did not exhibit the decrease in the fluidity due to a greater viscosity. The mixture proportioning of self-compaction section enlargement concrete could be considered at the following conditions: unit binder contents of $430kg/m^3{\sim}470kg/m^3$ and fine aggregate-to-total aggregate ratios of 40%~46% at the water-to-binder ratio of 38%.

Since pop-outs are occurred recently on concrete surface occasionally, it is needed to find out accurate causes and to suggest appropriate methods. On this study, it is investigated the occurrence mechanism of pop-outs caused by electric arc furnace Oxidizing slags as fine aggregate for concrete. As a result, it is investigated the cause of pop-outs that extremely small quantities of free CaO and free MgO in the electric furnace slag react with water to produce $Ca(OH)_2$ and $Mg(OH)_2$, so that their volumes are expanded and erupted about two times. As a resolution, it is needed to remove the potential cause of expansion by replacing the deteriorated concrete section up to the depth to secure the safe of structural element with repairing polymer mortar, especially more than 50MPa.
Aggregate resources in Korea are expected to run out owing to an increase in development demand and construction investment. Recycled concrete aggregates (RCA), extracted from waste concrete, have a lower quality than natural aggregates. However, RCA can produce concrete similar in quality to the normal concrete by aggregate pretreatment, use of admixtures, and quality control. RCA are most suitable for use in precast concrete products such as sidewalk blocks and revetment blocks. Herein, the feasibility of producing revetment blocks using recycled aggregate concrete (RAC), similar in quality to normal concrete, was analyzed. The amount of RCA was varied, and moderate high early strength cement and steam curing were used to produce the concrete test blocks. In the block test, the load resistance characteristics of the blocks were evaluated to determine optimal RAC and glass fiber reinforced polymer (GFRP) rebar compositions. Thus, the variable that reduced the cement content was determined at the same level as that of natural aggregate concrete by the control of steam curing. In the concrete block test, although this depends on the reinforcement ratio, the RAC block exhibited the same or better performance than a normal concrete block. Therefore, the low quality of RCA in RAC is no longer a problem when concrete mixing and curing are controlled and appropriate reinforcement is used.

This study was performed to develop environment-friendly porous polymer concrete utilizing recycled aggregates [RPPC] for permeable pavement of uniform quality with high permeability and flexural strength as well as excellent freezing and thawing resistance. The void ratios of RPPC are in the range of 15$\sim$$24\%$, showing the tendency that it is reduced to a great extent as the mixing ratio of the binder increases. The compressive and flexural strength of RPPC are in the range of 19$\sim$26 MPa and 6.2$\sim$7.4 MPa, respectively. Also, it shows a tendency to increase as the mixing ratio of the binder and filler increases. The permeability coefficients of RPPC are in the range of $6.3\times$$10_{-1}$$\sim$$1.5\times$$10_{-2}$cm/s. The flexural loads of RPPC are in the range of 18$\sim$32 KN. The weight reduction ratios obtained from the test for freezing and thawing resistance are in the range of 1.1$\sim$$2.4\%$ after 300 cycles of repeated freezing and thawing of the specimen for all mixes. The relative compressive strengths of RPPC after 300 cycles of freezing and thawing against the compressive strength before freezing and thawing test are in the range of 89$\sim$$96\%$.
The use of Polymer Concrete (PC) is growing very rapidly in many structural and construction applications such as box culverts, hazardous waste containers, trench lines, floor drains and the repair and overlay of damaged cement concrete surfaces in pavements, bridges, etc. However, PC has a defect economically because resin which be used for binder is expensive. Therefore the latest research is being progressed to replace existing resin with new resin which can reduce the high cost. Here, Polymer concrete using the recycled PET(polyethylene terephthalate) has some merits such as decrease of environmental destruction, decrease of environmental pollution and development of new construction materials. The variables of this study are amount of resin, curing condition and maximum size of coarse aggregate to find out mechanic properties of this. Stress-strain curve was obtained using MTS equipment by strain control. The results indicated that modulus of elasticity was increased gradually in an ascending branch of curve, as an increase of resin content. Compressive strength was the highest for resin content of $13\%$. And Compressive strength was increased as maximum size of coarse aggregate increases. The strain at maximum stress increases with an increase of resin content and size of coarse aggregate. For the descending branch of stress-strain curve the brittle fracture was decreased when it was cured at the room temperature compared to high temperature.
To investigate the axial compressive performance of the recycled aggregate concrete (RAC) filled glass fiber reinforced polymer (GFRP) tube and profile steel composite columns, static loading tests were carried out on 18 specimens under axial loads in this study, including 7 RAC filled GFRP tube columns and 11 RAC filled GFRP tube-profile steel composite columns. The design parameters include recycled coarse aggregate (RCA) replacement percentage, profile steel ratio, slenderness ratio and RAC strength. The failure process, failure modes, axial stress-strain curves, strain development and axial bearing capacity of all specimens were mainly analyzed in detail. The experimental results show that the GFRP tube had strong restraint ability to RAC material and the profile steel could improve the axial compressive performance of the columns. The failure modes of the columns can be summarized as follow: the profile steel in the composite columns yielded first, then the internal RAC material was crushed, and finally the fiberglass of the external GFRP tube was seriously torn, resulting in the final failure of columns. The axial bearing capacity of the columns decreased with the increase of RCA replacement percentage and the maximum decreasing amplitude was 11.10%. In addition, the slenderness ratio had an adverse effect on the axial bearing capacity of the columns. However, the strength of the RAC material could effectively improve the axial bearing capacity of the columns, but their deformability decreased. In addition, the increasing profile steel ratio contributed to the axial compressive capacity of the composite columns. Based on the above analysis, a formula for calculating the bearing capacity of composite columns under axial compression load is proposed, and the adverse effects of slenderness ratio and RCA replacement percentage are considered.
Generally polymer mortar and concrete using unsaturated polyester resin has high strengths and good chemical resistance. However it also has high brittleness and because of this reason, it is not used for the purpose that demands high resistance to impact. The purpose of this study is to improve the brittleness of unsaturated polyester mortar(UPE mortar) which could be used for the flooring material with recycled aggregates and UPE. Polyurethane liquid rubber(PU) and recycled aggregates were used to complement the brittleness and to recycle the resources respectively. The characteristics of mortar were investigated according to the molecular weight and substitution rate of PU. As the molecular weight and PU substitution rate were increased, the viscosity was increased, working life became fast and curing shrinkage was reduced. Compressive and flexural strengths were also reduced but tile brittleness was improved. Therefore, it is seemed that the improved WE mortar could be obtained by using polyurethane liquid rubber with the polyol of molecular weight 2000, 3000.

In this study, the bonding performance of repair materials was evaluated on concrete repair surface to develop concrete repair materials based on UHPC (Ultra High Performance Concrete) which has high mechanical and durability performance. The ten test variables were applied considering the roughness and wet condition of the concrete surface subject to repair, the addition of polymer, and the use PP and PVA fibers in repair materials. The addition of the polymer caused a significant decrease in strength, which was thought to be due to the effect of the additional super plasticizer used to adjust workability. Also, flow was reduced by up to 13.8 % with the use of plastic-based fibers. As a result of evaluating the bond strength of the repair material considering the condition of the surface subject to repair, it was thought that in the case of using UHPC-based repair material, high bonding performance could be secured without any additional surface treatment as long as the surface of the base material was sound. In addition, UHPC-based repair materials showed high bonding performance even when the attachment surface was wet. In the future, research will be conducted on shot-crete application and gradient pouring for the development of UHPC-based repair materials, and continuous improvement in the repair material mixing property will be carried out to ensure economic efficiency and performance as a concrete structural repair material.

Currently, the most commonly used decontamination agent in the country is calcium chloride, and the use of decontamination agents nationwide is on the rise due to climate change in the country. The deicing agent, aimed at deicing snow, is sprayed and the chloride is frozen and thawed by the dissolved surface water, causing various damages such as deterioration to the concrete. Therefore, in this study, the reactive urethane polymer was manufactured to coat concrete surface protection material, which is a method that prevents moisture from externally penetrating by applying to concrete surfaces, and the mixing agent was selected through the size control of molecules and surface modification, and the properties of penetrant stiffening agents and the application method of concrete was evaluated.

The compressive strength and electrical resistance of pitch-based carbon fiber (CF) in cementitious materials are explored to determine the feasibility of its use as a functional material in construction. The most widely used CFs are manufactured from polyacrylonitrile (PAN-based CF). Alternatively, short CFs are obtained in an economical way using pitch as a precursor in a melt-blown process (pitch-based CF), which is cheaper and more eco-friendly method because this pitch-based CF is basically recycled from petroleum residue. In the construction field, PAN-based CFs in the form of fabric are used for rehabilitation purposes to reinforce concrete slabs and piers because of their high mechanical properties. However, studies have revealed that construction materials with pitch-based CF are not popular. This study explores the compressive strength and electrical resistances of a cement paste prism using pitch-based CF.
