This paper describes results of an preliminary study to produce strain hardening cement-based composites (SHCCs)with consideration of sustainability for infrastructure applications. The aims of this study are to evaluate the influence of recycled materials on the mechanical characteristics of SHCCs, such as compressive, four-point bending, and direct tensile behaviors, and to give basic data for constitutive model for analyzing and designing infra structures with SHCCs. In this study, silica sand, cement, and PVA fibers, were partially replaced with recycled sand, fly-ash, and FET fibers in the mixture of SHCCs, respectively. Test results indicated that fly-ash could improve both bending and direct tensile performance of SHCCs due to increasing chemical bond strength at the interface between PVA fibers and cement matrices. However, SHCCs replaced with PET fibers showed much lower performance in bending and direct tensile tests due to originally low mechanical properties of own fibers, although compressive behavior is similar to PVA2.0 specimen. Also, it was noted that the recycled sand would increase elastic modulus of SHCCs due to larger grain size compared to silica sand. Based on pre-set target value to maintain the performance of SHCCs, it was concluded that the replacement ratio below 20% of fly-ash or below 50% of recycled sands would be desirable for creating sustainable SHCCs.

Recently, a huge amount of sulfur has been produced as a byproduct of petroleum refining processes in Korea. Sulfur concrete is made of modified sulfur binder instead of cement paste, which has advantages of reducing $CO_2$ emission from cement industry as well as utilizing surplus sulfur. Also, sulfur concrete is a sustainable material that can be repetitively recycled. In this study, the physical properties of sulfur concrete are experimentally investigated. From the test results, sulfur concrete showed compressive strengths higher than at least 50MPa. Also, the unit weight, modulus of elasticity and splitting tensile strength of sulfur concrete was similar to that of Portland cement concrete (PCC). The coefficient of thermal expansion of sulfur concrete was a little larger than that of Portland cement concrete and sulfur concrete with mineral filler is helpful to lower the coefficient of thermal expansion. recycled aggregate sulfur concrete resulted in a slight reduction in the compressive strength, but sulfur concrete with recycled aggregate can achieve the high strength characteristics.
In this study, a series of uniaxial unconfined compression test and constant-head test were performed to investigate the mechanical characteristics of porous concrete using recycled-aggregate for the varying unit weight and water-cement ratio. To enhance the permeability of the porous concrete, the recycled-aggregate with similar grain size in the range of $40{\pm}5mm$ was used and water-cement ratio that leads to the lean-mix was adapted. The mechanical characteristics of the porous concrete cured for 3 days were examined; the compressive strength and $E_{50}$ showed their maximum values with 40% water-cement ratio and $1.8t/m^3$ unit weight and the permeability coefficient was averagely measured in the range of $0.9{\times}10^0cm/sec$ regardless of water-cement ratio and unit weight.

The purpose of this study is development of technique to use cementitious powder as recycle cement produced from deteriorated Concrete waste which has a large quantity of calcium carbonate. Therefore, after having theoretical consideration based on the properties of high-heated concrete and concerning about neutralization of Concrete, we analysis chemical properties of ingredients of cementitious powder. After making origin cement paste, then processing the accelarated carbonation, we consider the properties of hydration and chemical properties of cementitious powder under various temperature conditions. As a result of the thermal analysis, the $CaCO_3$ content of cementitious powder would affect decision of heat temperature to recover its hydrated ability because $CaCO_3$ content is increased when neutralization is progressed. And as a result of XRD analysis, in case of origin powder of non-neutralized paste, CaO peak is found at $700^{\circ}C$. but, heat temperature to generate CaO would increase when the content of neutralized ingredients is increased. Finally, recycle cement heated at $700^{\circ}C$ 120min. shows the best compressive strength when the content of neutralized ingredients in recycle cement is less then 50%.

In this paper, the effect on cement clinker and cement quality was studied to prove the effect of reducing the sintering temperature of cement clinker as a mineralizer to recycle fluorine based semiconductor sludge, an industrial by-product. In addition, a verification study was conducted to compare the properties of clinker and cement at different temperatures when natural fluorite, previously used as a mineralizer, was used. As a result of the study, semiconductor sludge showed sufficient effectiveness as a mineralizer and could replace natural fluorite, an existing mineralizer.

The aggregate, which does not satisfy the standard of KS F 2573, was selected for this investigation. The 28day compressive strength of recycled aggregate concrete without pozzolan material was 21.7MPa, which was less than the strength of concrete made with crushed stone. However, the compressive strength at 28 days was improved by mixing early rapid hardening cement to the cement at the weight ratio of 2.5%. Furthermore, the compressive strength at 91 days and 180 days increased significantly by adding fly ash, slag powder, and diatom powder. The tensile strength of recycled aggregate concrete with pozzolan material also increased about 40% compared to the general concrete. Futhermore, the shrinkage and creep of recycled aggregate concrete with fly ash and slag powder was a little decreased that of recycled aggregate concrete with fly ash and diatom powder. Relationship between compressive strength and creep coefficient was shown to the linear relation like as ${\sigma}_c=-30CF+404$.

The aim of the research is to suggest an economical and sustainable method of reducing pH of recycled aggregate as an embanking and a covering materials. Because of the unhydrated cement based materials on the surface of the recycled aggregate, it causes a severe problem on environment with leaked high alkali water from embankment and covering by using recycled aggregate. In this research, to reduce the pH of recycled aggregate, regarding the recycled fine aggregate, eight different methods were tested and analyzed with three different categorized: natural treatment, artificial treatment, and chemical treatment. From the results of experiment, it was considered that the most efficient method of reducing pH of recycled aggregate was the chemical treatment using acid such as $CO_2$ acceleration or monoammonium phosphate (MAP), and diammonium phosphate (DAP). Especially, using MAP and DAP, fertilizers, is the most efficient method of reducing pH with its time duration and performance.

This study carried out to evaluate the hydration heat analysis and fundamental characteristics such as air content, slump, compressive strength and dry shrinkage according to concrete with premixed cement, ternary concrete and OPC concrete for using concrete with premixed cement. The results of experiment are founded that concrete with premixed cement have sufficient performances such as workability, compressive strength and dry shrinkage. Also, the results of hydration heat analysis are founded that concrete with premixed cement have more performance than ternary concrete and OPC concrete at a point of view for the quality control such as thermal crack reducing and economic benefit. Therefore, it is desirable that concrete with premixed cement should be used to rise durability performance and convenience of maintenance.

In this study, the optimum ratio of soil-cement was derived to utilize carbon capture minerals(CCM) as soil-cement for deep mixing method, quality characteristics of soil-cement mixed with carbon capture minerals were evaluated. The CCM is generated in the form of a slurry, and as a result of evaluating water content, it was found to be about 50%. Accordingly, the water content of CCM was removed in the unit water of Soil-cement mix. As a result of field mixing of soil-cement using CCM on field soil, it showed that the design allowable bearing capacity was satisfied by showing 3.0MPa or more as of 28 days of age. As a result of the hazard verification of carbon capture minerals, 0.055mg/L of Cu was detected, but satisfies the acceptance criteria, and no other harmful substances were eluted.
