  • This study aims to obtain technical data for improvement of utilization of Blast Furnace Slag(BFS), recycled aggregate in the future by complementing fundamental problems of BFS such as manifestation of initial strength and excessive alkali quantity as well as weakness of recycled fine aggregate through manufacturing of recycled fine aggregate mortar using BFS. Since hydroxide ion concentration of calcium hydroxide(Ca(OH)2) ion erupted from recycled fine aggregate newly produced is over 12. In recycled fine aggregate mortar transposing and using BFS powder, calcium hydroxide(Ca(OH)2) erupted from recycled fine aggregate played a role of stimulus from the day 3 and manifestation of compressive strength was slowly increased with mortar using natural fine aggregate and showed considerable increase from the day 7.

  • Recently, it is increased on the concern for the reuse of waste concrete because of the shortage of natural aggregate and the increase of waste concrete. And recycled coarse aggregate is used variously, but the existing wet method producted recycled fine aggregate has problems like the high price facilities, the long time progress of the work and recycled fine aggregate of poor. The aim of this study is to investigate the possibility of the method of dry producted high qualities recycled fine aggregate. The results of this study have shown that the possibility of the method of dry is certificated as the qualities of recycled fine aggregate satisfied the KS and the compressive strength of mortar was similar to plain.

현장재생골재를 사용한 포장용 콘크리트의 기본 물성실험 (Evaluation of Concrete Material Properties for Pavement Using Job-site Processed Recycled Aggregates)

  • PURPOSES : This study was performed to investigate a feasibility of job-site use of recycled concrete aggregate exceeding 3% of absorption rate. Test variables are coarse aggregate types such as natural aggregate, job-site processed recycled aggregate, and recycled aggregate processed from the intermediate waste treatment company. METHODS : First, aggregate properties such as gradation, specific gravity and absorption rate were determined. Next a basic series of mechanical properties of concrete was tested. RESULTS : All strength test results such as compression, flexure and modulus were satisfied for the minimum requirements. Finally up to first 48 elapsed days the shrinkage strains of concretes made from both recycled aggregates (in case of volume-surface ratio of 300) appeared to be greater than 26% of the companion concretes made from natural aggregates. CONCLUSIONS : Drying shrinkage result is ascribed to greater absorption rate and specific gravity of those specimens made from recycled aggregate. This may be reduced with an addition of admixtures.

  • Along with recent improvement of recycling technique, the quality of the recycled concrete aggregate have become very competitive to the natural concrete aggregate. Therefore, a practical use of the recycled concrete aggregate may be possible for structural members. Majority studies about the recycled concrete aggregate was emphasized a limitation of fundamental study concerned with a strength characteristics and durability of the recycled aggregate concrete. Therefore, for the extension of application of recycled concrete aggregate, this investigation verifies the strength characteristics and structural performances of PHC piles used with coarce and fine recycled concrete aggregate.

Bond behaviors of shape steel embedded in recycled aggregate concrete and recycled aggregate concrete filled in steel tubes

  • Thirty one push-out tests were carried out in order to investigate the bond behavior between shape steel, steel tube (named steels) and recycled aggregate concrete (RAC), including 11 steel reinforced recycled aggregate concrete (SRRAC) columns, 10 recycled aggregate concrete-filled circular steel tube (RACFCST) columns and 10 recycled aggregate concrete-filled square steel tube (RACFSST) columns. Eleven recycled coarse aggregate (RCA) replacement ratios (i.e., 0%, 10%, 20%, 30%, 40%, 50%, 60%, 70%, 80%, 90% and 100%) were considered for SRRAC specimens, while five RCA replacement ratios (i.e., 0%, 25%, 50%, 75% and 100%), concrete type and length-diameter ratio for recycled aggregate concrete-filled steel tube (RACFST) specimens were designed in this paper. Based on the test results, the influences of all variable parameters on the bond strength between steels and RAC were investigated. It was found that the load-slip curves at the loading end appeared the initial slip earlier than the curves at the free end. In addition, eight practical bond strength models were applied to make checking computations for all the specimens. The theoretical analytical model for interfacial bond shear transmission length in each type of steel-RAC composite columns was established through the mechanical derivation, which can be used to design and evaluate the performance of anchorage zones in steel-RAC composite structures.

  • 순환골재는 천연골재가 부족한 국내에서 매우 유용한 골재자원이며, 정부에서도 이러한 중요성을 인식하고 순환골재의 고부가가치 활용을 위한 다양한 정책을 제안하고 있다. 그러나 현재 국내에서 생산되는 순환골재는 대부분 성토, 매립 등 저부가가치의 용도로 활용되고 있으며 구조용 부재와 같은 고부가가치 활용은 아직 이루어지지 않고 있다. 국내 순환골재 생산기술은 세계적인 수준임에도 불구하고 순환골재콘크리트의 구조용 부재적용은 아직 이루어지지 않고 있으며 이는 순환골재의 표면에 부착된 부착모르타르와 순환골재의 생산과정에서 발생되는 균열로 인해 순환골재콘크리트의 품질을 예측하고 조절하기 어렵기 때문인 것으로 판단된다. 본 연구에서는 순환골재콘크리트의 현장적용성 증진을 위한 일환으로 순환골재, 조강시멘트, 증기양생 최고온도 및 최고온도 지속시간이 순환골재콘크리트에 미치는 영향을 분석하고자 하였다.

  • 순환골재는 건설폐기물을 재활용함으로써 자원절약 및 대체자원의 개발과 환경보호의 측면에서 국가 사회적으로 많은 이점을 가지고 있다. 하지만 낮은 밀도와 높은 흡수율을 가지는 저품질 순환골재는 구조용 콘크리트 골재로 사용되지 못하고 주로 저부가가치로 사용되고 있다. 고품질 순환골재를 생산하기 위해서는 골재와 골재에 부착된 구모르타르를 효과적으로 제거해야 한다. 최근 물리적 화학적 방법을 이용하여 구모르타르를 효율적으로 제거하기 위한 연구가 행해지고 있으나, 고품질 순환잔골재의 생산 조건에 관한 정량적 연구는 아직 부족한 실정이다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 고품질 순환잔골재를 생산하기 위해서 황산과 저속습식마쇄기를 이용하여 구모르타르를 효과적으로 제거할 수 있는 최적 조건을 제시하고자 하였다. 황산의 몰비와 골재비율에 따른 순환골재의 실험결과 밀도, 흡수율, 실적율은 기준을 만족시키는 결과를 나타내고 있는 것을 알 수 있었다.

Mechanical properties of pervious concrete with recycled aggregate

  • In order to research the influence of different recycled aggregate contents on the mechanical properties of pervious concrete, the experimental study and numerical simulation analysis of the mechanical properties of pervious concrete with five kinds of recycled aggregates contents (0%, 25%, 50%, 75% and 100%) are carried out in this paper. The experimental test were first performed on concrete specimens of different sizes in order to determine the influence of recycled aggregate on the compressive strength and splitting tensile strength, direct tension strength and bending strength. Then, the development of the internal cracks of pervious concrete under different working conditions is studied more intuitively by $PFC^{3D}$. The experimental results show that the concrete compressive strength, tensile strength and bending strength decrease with the increase of the recycled aggregate contents. This trend of reduction is not only related to the brittleness of recycled aggregate concrete, but also to the weak viscosity of recycled aggregate and cement paste. It is found that the fracture surface of pervious concrete with recycled aggregate is smoother than that of natural aggregate pervious concrete by $PFC^{3D}$, which means that the bridging effect is weakened in the stress transfer between the left and right sides of the crack. Through the analysis of the development of the internal cracks, the recycled aggregate concrete generated more cracks than the natural aggregate concrete, which means that the recycled aggregate concrete is easier to form a coalescence fracture surface and eventually break.

재생 굵은골재를 사용한 철근 콘크리트 보의 거동에 관한 실험연구 (An Experimental Study on the Behavior of Reinforced Concrete Beams using Recycled Coarse Aggregate)

  • The object of this study is to investigate experimentally the shear behavior of reinforced concrete beams using recycled coarse aggregate. At first, the specimens are manufactured for the compressive strength of 210kgf/$\textrm{cm}^2$ with recycled coarse aggregate ratio of 0%, 20%, 40%, 60%, 80%, 100%, respectively. From the results, Reinforced concrete beams using recycled coarse aggregate were made with recycled coarse aggregate ratio of 0%, 20%, 40%, 60%, 80%, with stirrups and recycled coarse aggregate ratio of 0%, 20%, 40% without stirrups. The results of crack pattern and failure mode, load-displacement curve(center point and load point) and load-steel curve(compressive, tensile, stirrup) were analysed. It is concluded from the test that the shear behavior of recycled concrete beams is determined to have similar behavior of normal concrete beams. Therefore, from this study the application of recycled concrete to concrete structures may be possible. But, for using the recycled concrete widely, it is expected that the more studies on quality control, substitution ratio and mix design related with recycled concrete are necessary.
