  • Combustion of gaseous fuel combustor in a high temperature vitiated air stream was studied with computer simulation. It is for application to afterburner of gas turbine engine which the exact mechanism is not yet clarified. As the jet velocity from fuel nozzle is very high and the geometry of combustor is three dimensional complex structure, many time and money are required to have good results. To consider this demerit, it is simplified to 2-dimensional and modified with the nozzle hole area to same area of annual status. As the thickness of annual is too thin, it is to divide with the many grids for reasonable results. Accordingly, new method which injected fuel mass, momentum and energy are added to source terms of each governing conservation equation as a source terms is introduced like as two phase analysis. Reaction rate is determined by taking into account the Arrhenius reaction based on a single step reaction mechanism. It is focused to temperature and product concentration distribution at each equivalence ratio of inlet hot product.

  • This study was carried out ot investigate effects of X-537A on hydrogen ion concentration insperm washed solution and sperm acrosome reaction. The results obtained were as follows. 1. When bovine sperm was twice washed with SHP solutions of pH 6.8 and 7.4 and again washed with SHP solution containing 4$\mu$M of X-537A, in case of pH 6.8 the sperm washed with 4$\mu$M of X-537A showed signifciantly(p<0.01) higher hydrogen ion concentration in sperm washed solution than the sperm washed without X-537A. 2. When the sperm was twice washed with SHP solution and then washed with SHP solution containing 4$\mu$M of X-537A, sperm acrosome rection rate was signifciantly(p<0.01) increased from 12min after incubation in the sperm washed without X-537A, but was signifciantly(p<0.01) increased from 8 min after incubation in the sperm washed with 4$\mu$M of X-537A. 3. When the sperm was twice washed with SHP solution and then washed with SHP solution containing 0, 4 and 40$\mu$M of X-537A, and then incubated in m-TALP for 120 min, sperm acrosome reaction rate was significantly(p<0.01) increased from 15 min after incubation in 0, 4 and 40$\mu$m OF X-537A. However at 60 min incubation 40$\mu$M of X-537A showed significantly(p<0.01) higher sperm acrosome reaction rate than 0 and 4$\mu$M and at 120 min incubation 4 and 40$\mu$M of X-537A showed signifciantly(p<0.01) higher acrosome reaction rate than 0$\mu$M of X-537A.

  • From the formation of the monodispersed silica particle which is a valuable for the industry by Sol-Gel process, the effects of the parameters participated in the process, the growth mechanism and the characteristics of silica particles for each rection conditions are investigated. To investigate about the formation of final silica particles, the suspension which performs the polymerization is reacted with molybdic acid, and the evolutions of TEOS and silica particle size are investigated in the reaction time ? 새 the characteristics of molybdic acid with the suspension. From the results, a constant number of silica particle is formed at early reaction stage. Silica particles grow through the aggregation of smaller particles and nucleation is rate-limiting step for the growth of particles. In the conditions of this study, spherical silica particles are formed, [NH$_3$] and [$H_2O$] concentration increase the particle size but particle size decrease with [$H_2O$] concentration which is a certain above region. Average particle sizes are 187.4~483.3 nm and standard deviations in the average particle size are 1.7~2.9% with each experimental condition. From the BET results, specific surface area is 5.5~23.4 $m^2$/g and these values decrease with increase size. The average pore size is 50~70$\AA$.

  • Effect of soil moisture level on the growth of ginger plant was investigated through a pot experiment. The soil used for this study was collected from a newly reclaimed hillside land. The soil was a silty clay loam(19% sand, 57% of silt and 24% of clay), acidic in soil rection(pH 4.7, in $H_2O$) and low in organic matter content(1.2%). Soil moisture levels selected for the experiment were 10, 15, 20, 25, and 30% on weight basis. Under the soil moisture of 20-25%, the emergence ratio was 80-100%, 25 days alter planting. The performance of above ground parts was best under 20-25% of soil moisture. When the soil moisture content was far from 25%, high or low, the die out of above ground parts of ginger tended to increase. Under 20-25% of soil moisture the growth of roots was best and the occurrence of root rot was minimal.

  • Laboratory experiments were conducted to evaluate the resistance of the new rice varieties Milyang $\#$21 and $\#$23 at the seedling stage to the brown planthopper(Nilaparvata lugens), small brown planthopper(Laodelphax striatellus), white-back planthopper(Sogatella furcifera), green rorice leafhopper(Nephotettix cincticeps) and zigzag-striped leafhopper (Recilia dorsalis) The varieties Yushin and T(N)-1 were used as susceptible check and the resistant check varieties were Mudgo to brown planthopper, ASD-7 :o small brown planthopper, Colombo to white-back planthopper, IR2061 (46763) to green rice leafhopper and Vellailanalgayan to zigzag-striped leafhopper. The varieties Milyang $\#$21 and $\#$23 were moderate in plant reaction only to the green rice leafhopper and $\#$23 was moderately resistant in plant rection only to the small brown planthopper. The nymphs of plant-and leaf-hoppers were more prefered Milyang $\#$21 and $\#$23 and susceptible check-varieties were more preferred for feeding than the resistant check-varieties. The green rice leafhopper and aigzag·striped leafhopper much more prefered Milyang $\#$21 and $\#$23 for oviposition, while brown planthopper and small brown planthopper more prefered the resistant cheeks than test varieties and susceptible checks. However, there was no any steady relationship in ovipositional preference between resistant and susceptible to the hoppers. Shorter nymphal-periods and higher rate of adult emergence were observed in the test varieties and the susceptible checks compared with the resistant checks. In conclusion, the varieties Milyang $\#$21 and $\#$23 seemed to be lack of true resistance to the plant-and leaf-hoppers from the viewpoints of antibiosis and feeding preference.
