  • The natural frequencies of a rectangular plate on non-homogeneous elastic foundations were obtained by using the Ritz method and Galerkin method. The results of both methods using the different type of trial functions were also compared. Furthermore, the effects of the variation of boundary conditions, the stiffness of the foundation spring, the dimension ratio of the plate were investigated. As a result, the Galerkin method can be used to obtain the accurate solution and can be effectively used to design the foundation bed.

Hydroelastic Effects in Vibration of Plate and Ship Hull Structures Contacted with Fluid

  • The present study deals with the hydroelastic vibration analysis of structures in contact with fluid via coupled fluid-structure interaction (FSI) embedded with a finite element method (FEM) such that a structure displacement formulation is coupled with a fluid pressure-displacement formulation. For the preliminary study and validation of FEM based coupled FSI analysis, hydroelastic vibration characteristics of a rectangular plate in contact with fluid are first compared with the elastic vibration in terms of boundary condition and mode frequency. Numerical results from coupled FSI analysis have been shown to be rational and accurate, compared to energy method based theoretical solutions and experimental results. The effect of free surface on the vibration mode is numerically studied by changing the submerged depth of a rectangular plate. As a practical application, the hull structural vibration of 4,000 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEU) container ship is considered. Hydroelastic results of the ship hull structure are compared with those obtained from the elastic condition.

  • This paper has the object of investigating natural frequencies of tapered thick plate on pasternak foundation by means of finite element method and providing kinetic design data for mat of building structures. Finite element analysis of rectangular plate is done by use of rectangular finite element with 8-nodes. In order to analysis plate which is supported on pasternak foundation. the Winkler parameter is varied with 10, $10^2,\;10^3$ and the shear foundation parameter is 5, 10. This paper is analyzed varying thickness by taper ratio. The taper ratio is applied as 0.0, 0.25, 0.5, 0.75, 1.0 respectively.

  • In this paper, a numerical case study is carried out on the hydroelastic vibration of rectangular plate with various fluid field. It is assumed that the tank wall is clamped along the plate edges. The VMM(virtual mass method) of Nastran is used for the simulation of fluid domain and calculating natural frequency of fluid-coupled structure. In this paper, natural frequencies are calculated and compared for rectangular plates with various fluid field such as infinite fluid and finite fluid, length change of finite fluid field and various fluid contacting conditions.

  • Exact solutions for stresses, strains, and displacements of a perforated rectangular plate by an arbitrarily located circular hole subjected to both linearly varying in-plane normal stresses on the two opposite edges and in-plane shear stresses are investigated using the Airy stress function. The hoop stress occurring at the edge of the non-central circular hole are computed and plotted. Stress concentration factors (the maximum non-dimensional hoop stresses) depending on the location and size of the non-central circular hole and the loading condition are tabularized.

  • This stability of a plate structure is very crucial problem which results in wrinkle and bucking. In this study, the effect of the pattern of spot-welding points of the two rectangular plates on the compressive and shear bucking load is studied with respect to the thickness, aspect ratio of plates and number of welding spots. Buckling coefficient of the plate not welded was compared with that of two plates with various thickness to extract the effect of thickness. The effect of number of welding spots are studied in two directions, longitudinal and transverse directions. The conclusions obtained were that the reinforcement effect was maximized when the aspect ratio was close to 1.75 at compressive load condition and that the effect of number of welding spots in transverse direction was larger than that in longitudinal direction at shearing load condition.

  • Narrow rectangular channels are employed in nuclear research reactors that use plate-type nuclear fuels, high heat-flux compact heat exchangers, and high-performance micro-electronics cooling systems. Two-phase flow in narrow rectangular channels is important, and it needs to be better understood because it is considerably different than that in round tubes. In this study, mechanistic models were developed for the flow regime transition criteria for various flow regimes in co-current air-water two-phase flow for vertical downward flow inside a narrow rectangular channel. The newly developed criteria were compared to a flow regime map of downward air-water two-phase flow inside a narrow rectangular channel with a 2.35-mm gap width under ambient temperature and pressure conditions. Overall, the proposed model showed good agreement with the experimental data.

  • 경사기능재료 판에 대한 열탄성 변형과 응력 해석을 위해 Green 함수 방법이 채택되었다. 3 차원 비정상 온도분포에 대한 해는 적층판 이론에 의해 얻어진다. 열탄성 문제에 대한 기본 방정식은 각각 평면외 (out-plane) 변형과 평면내 (in-plane) 힘에 의해 유도되었다. 굽힘과 평면내 힘에 의한 열탄성 변형과 응력분포는 Galerkin 방법에 근거한 Green 함수를 이용하여 해석하였다. 열탄성 변형과 응력분포 해석을 위한 Galerkin Green 함수의 특성함수들은 사각판의 제차 경계조건을 만족시키는 허용함수들의 급수 형태로 근사화되었다. 단수지시된 사각 판에 대한 수치해석이 수행되었으며, 정사기능재료의 물성치가 판의 비정상 열탄성 거동에 미치는 영향이 검토되었다.

  • 본 논문에서는 탄소성 영역 내 패치 로딩 크기에 따른 알루미늄 합금 사각형 판의 초기 처짐 영향을 수치해석방법으로 이용한 탄성 및 탄소성 대변형 시리즈 해석을 수행하였다. 주변 지지조건은 단순지지로 가정하고 초기 처짐 크기(w/t), 종횡비(a/b), 세장비(b/t)를 고려하여 알루미늄 합금 A6082-T6 사각형 판의 임계 탄성 좌굴하중과 좌굴 후 거동을 검토하였다. 탄성 및 탄소성 대변형 시리즈 해석은 상용프로그램을 사용하였다. 초기 처짐 크기가 작을 경우 하중증가와 함께 면내 강성이 처음부터 감소하며 크기가 커질수록 훨씬 두드러지게 발생한다. 종횡비가 커질수록 초기항복강도는 점차 감소하며 판 두께가 두꺼울수록 패치 로딩 크기(l/b) 0.5 이후 초기 항복강도 감소비율은 얇은 두께보다 더 크게 발생한다.
