This paper presented a hardware implementation of ARIA, which is a Korean standard l28-bit block cryptography algorithm. In this work, ARIA was designed technology-independently for application such as ASIC or core-based designs. ARIA algorithm was fitted in FPGA without additional components of hardware or software. It was confirmed that the rate of resource usage is about 19% in Altera EPXAl0F1020CI and the resulting design operates stably in a clock frequency of 36.35MHz, whose encryption/decryption rate was 310.3Mbps. Consequently, the proposed hardware implementation of ARIA is expected to have a lot of application fields which need high speed process such as electronic commerce, mobile communication, network security and the fields requiring lots of data storing where many users need processing large amount of data simultaneously.
Reactive distillation (RD) is a combination process where both separation and reaction are considered simultaneously in a single vessel. This kind of combination to enhance the overall performance is not a new attempt in the chemical engineering areas. The recovery of ammonia in the classic Solvay process for soda ash of the 1860s may be cited as probably the first commercial application of RD. The RD system has been used for a long time as a useful process and recently the importance of the RD is enlarged more and more. In addition to that, the application fields of RD are diversely diverged. To make the most of the characteristic of RD system, we must decide the best operating condition under which the process shows the most effective productivity and should decide the best control algorithm which satisfies an optimal operating condition. Phosgene which is a highly reactive chemical is used for the production of isocyanates and polycarbonates. Because it has high reactivity and toxicity, its utilization is increasingly burdened by growing safety measures to be adopted during its production. Dimethyl Carbonate (DMC) was proposed as a substitute of phosgene because it is non-toxic and environmentally benign chemical. In this study, RD is used for DMC production process and the transesterification is performed inside of column to produce DMC. In transesterification, the methanol and ethylene carbonate (EC) are used as the reactants. This process use homogeneous catalyst and the azeotrope exists between the reactant and product. Owing to azeotrope, we should use two distillation columns. For this DMC production process, we can suggest two configurations. One is EC excess process and the other is methanol excess process. From the comparison of steady state simulation results where the Naphtali-Sandholm algorithm is used, it showed the better performance to use the methanol excess process configuration than EC excess process. Then, the dynamic simulation was performed to be based on the steady state simulation results and the optimal control system was designed. In addition to that, the optimal operating condition was suggested from previous results.

As society has developed rapidly toward a highly advanced digital information age, a multimedia communication service for acquisition, transmission and storage of image data as well as voice has being commercialized. However, image data is always corrupted by various noises during image processing, so researches for removing noises have been continued until now. There are diverse types of noise on the image including salt and pepper noise, AWGN, and mixed noise. Hence, the filter algorithm for the image recovery was proposed that salt and pepper noise was processed by linear interpolation, histogram weighted values and median filter after defining the noise to lessen the impact of mixed noise added in the image, and AWGN was processed by the pixel information of local mask establishing the weighted values in this study. In addition, the algorithm was compared with the conventional methods for objectively and used the PSNR(peak signal to noise ratio) as the basis of the determination.
This paper develops a framework for efficient resource management within the grid service environment. Resource management is the core element of the grid service; therefore, GridRMF(Grid Resource Management Framework) is modeled and developed in order to respond to such variable characteristics of resources as accordingly as possible. GridRMF uses the participation level of grid resource as a basis of its hierarchical management. This hierarchical management divides managing domains into two parts: VMS(Virtual Organization Management System) for virtual organization management and RMS(Resource Management System) for metadata management. VMS mediates resources according to optimal virtual organization selection mechanism, and responds to malfunctions of the virtual organization by LRM(Local Resource Manager) automatic recovery mechanism. RMS, on the other hand, responds to load balance and fault by applying resource status monitoring information into adaptive performance-based task allocation algorithm.

Recently, the data image processing has been applied to a variety of fields including broadcasting, communication, computer graphics, medicine, and so on. Generally, the image data may develop the noise during their transmission. Therefore, the studies have been actively conducted to remove the noise on the image. There are diverse types of noise on the image including salt and pepper noise, AWGN, and mixed noise. Hence, the filter algorithm for the image recovery was proposed that salt and pepper noise was processed by histogram and spatial weighted values after defining the noise to lessen the impact of mixed noise added in the image, and AWGN was processed by the pixel information of local mask establishing the weighted values in this study. Regarding the processed results by applying Lena images which were corrupted by salt and pepper noise(P=50%) and AWGN(${\sigma}=10$), suggested algorithm showed the improvement by 7.06[dB], 10.90[dB], 5.97[dB] respectively compared with the existing CWMF, A-TMF, AWMF.

In this paper, we propose a parametric sparse recovery algorithm(SRA) applied to a radar signal model, based on the compressive sensing(CS), for the ISAR(Inverse Synthetic Aperture Radar) image reconstruction from an incomplete radar-cross-section(RCS) data and for the estimation of rotation rate of a target. As the SRA, the iteratively-reweighted-least-square(IRLS) is combined with the radar signal model including chirp components with unknown chirp rate in the cross-range direction. In addition, the particle swarm optimization(PSO) technique is considered for searching correct parameters related to the rotation rate. Therefore, the parametric SRA based on the IRLS can reconstruct ISAR image and estimate the rotation rate of a target efficiently, although there exists missing data in observed RCS data samples. The performance of the proposed method in terms of image entropy is also compared with that of the traditional interpolation methods for the incomplete RCS data.

Compressive sensing allows recovering an original signal which has a small dimension of the signal compared to the dimension of the entire signal in a short period of time through a small number of observations. In this paper, we proposed a method for detecting tonal signal which caused by the machinery component of a vessel such as an engine, gearbox, and support elements. The tonal signal can be modeled as the sparse signal in the frequency domain when it compares to whole spectrum range. Thus, the target tonal signal can be estimated by S-OMP (Simultaneous-Orthogonal Matching Pursuit) which is one of the sparse signal recovery algorithms. In simulation section, we showed that S-OMP algorithm estimated more precise frequencies than the conventional FFT (Fast Fourier Transform) thresholding algorithm in low SNR (Signal to Noise Ratio) region.
Wireless mobile networks tend to drop a large portion of packets due to propagation errors rather than congestion. To Improve reliability over noisy wireless channels, wireless networks can employ forward error correction (FEC) techniques. Static FEC algorithms, however, can degrade the performance by poorly matching their overhead to the degree of the underlying channel error, especially when the channel path loss rate fluctuates widely. This paper investigates the benefits of an adaptable FEC mechanism for wireless networks with severe packet loss by analytical analysis or measurements over a real wireless network called sensor network. We show that our adaptive FEC named FECA (FEC-level Adaptation) technique improves the performance by dynamically tuning FEC strength to the current amount of wireless channel loss. We quantify these benefits through a hybrid simulation integrating packet-level simulation with bit-level details and validate that FECA keeps selecting the appropriate FEC-level for a constantly changing wireless channel.
The tracking and analysis of cell activities in time-lapse sequences plays an important role in understanding complex biological processes such as the spread of the tumor, an invasion of the virus, the wound recovery and the cell division. For automatic tracking of cells, the tasks such as the cell detection at each frame, the investigation of the correspondence between cells in previous and current frames, the identification of the cell division and the recognition of new cells must be performed. This paper proposes an automatic cell tracking algorithm. In the first frame, the marker of each cell is extracted using the feature vector obtained by the analysis of cellular regions, and then the watershed algorithm is applied using the extracted markers to produce the cell segmentation. In subsequent frames, the segmentation results of the previous frame are incorporated in the segmentation process for the current frame. A combined criterion of geometric and intensity property of each cell region is used for the proper association between previous and current cells to obtain correct cell tracking. Simulation results show that the proposed method improves the tracking performance compared to the tracking method in Cellprofiler (the software package for automatic analysis of bioimages).

The effect of the inlet swirling flow in a hydraulic turbine draft tube is a very complex phenomenon, which has been extensively investigated both theoretically and experimentally. In fact, the finding of the optimal flow distribution at the draft tube inlet in order to get the best performance has remained a challenge. Thus, attempting to answer this question, it was assumed that through an automatic optimization process a Genetic Algorithm would be able to manage a parameterized inlet velocity profile in order to achieve the best flow field for a particular draft tube. As a result of the optimization process, it was possible to obtain different draft-tube flow structures generated by the automatic manipulation of parameterized inlet velocity profiles. Thus, this work develops a qualitative and quantitative analysis of these new draft tube flow field structures provoked by the redesigned inlet velocity profiles. The comparisons among the different flow fields obtained clearly illustrate the importance of the flow uniformity at the end of the conduit. Another important aspect has been the elimination of the re-circulating flow area which used to promote an adverse pressure gradient in the cone, deteriorating the pressure recovery effect. Thanks to the evolutionary optimization strategy, it has been possible to demonstrate that the optimized inlet velocity profile can suppress or mitigate, at least numerically, the undesirable draft tube flow characteristics. Finally, since there is only a single swirl number for which the objective function has been minimized, the energy loss factor might be slightly affected by the flow rate if the same relation of the axial-tangential velocity components is maintained, which makes it possible to scale the inlet velocity field to different operating points.
