  • Through the examination of hospitalized patient's records, this study purports to determine. the extent to which nursing record behaviors meet general expectations held for nursing records and the differences in nursing record behavior in relation to different nursing categories, period of recording and hospitals with different management patterns. Nursing record behaviors of 802 patient's records in four hospitals in Seoul were examined. by use of a check list, which was prepared by the author as an instrument for the study. Data obtained from this examination were processed into percentage values for percentage. test and chi-square test in order to determine their significance. Results are as follows; 1. Records pertaining to treatment ranked highest among all care categories in their extent of coverage, averaging 65.6 percent. 2. Of the treatment category records, records of medication led others at 94.3 percent. followed by records of test and collection of specimens at 59.9 percent. diet at 58.8 percent and treatment at 41.0 percent. 3. Records in the category of physical assessment and care averaged 44.1 percent, the second highest next to treatment category records, 4. Of the records in the category of physical assessment and care, records in vital signs. placed first at 98.9 percent, followed by sleep at 76.2 percent, body weight at 74.7 percent, symptoms and signs at 69.3 percent, rest at 44.5 percent, hygiene at 39.7 percent, activities and participation at 16.9 percent, positions at 10.3 percent, level of consciousness at 9.8 percent and physiological dysfunction at 1.1 percent in that order. 5. Records in the category of psychological assessment and care averaged 3.2 percent, the lowest of the -three major categories. 6. Of the records in the category of psychological assessment and care, records on emotional responses ranked top at 10.5 percent, followed by self-concern at 2.1 percent, adjustment at 2.0 percent, family, occupational and social relations at 0.7 percent and preferences. and interest at 0.5 percent in that order. 7. Records in relation to the category of specific conditions were found in 9.1 percent of the total records. 8. Of the records in the category of specific conditions, consultation and transfer records, stood first at 25.0 percent, followed by precautionary measurements at 1.4 percent and isolation at 0.9 percent 9. A great difference in nursing record behavior was observed between the first week of hospitalization and the last week, with the first week's recordings much higher than the last week in the categories of treatment and specific conditions (p<0.01). and of physical assessment and care (p <0.05). 10. A big difference was also observed among the hospitals (p<0.01). 11. A big difference was also observed between the government-run hospitals and the private hospitals in the categories of physical assessment and care and specific conditions in the first week of hospitalization (P<0.05l), and in the category of psychological assessment and care in the last week (P<0.05). 12. Between the hospitals established with foreign aid and the other hospitals, the difference in nursing record behavior was significant only in the category of physical assessment and care both in the first week and the last week (P<0.01). 13. The average nursing record behavior in all care categories stood at 45.1 percent in the extent of its coverage in relation to the general expectations.

  • This study describes a new species of cytheroid ostracod, Paradoxostoma koreana sp. nov., collected in Korea. In addition, three other cytheroid ostracods, P. setoense Schornikov, 1975, Loxoconcha pulchra Ishizaki, 1968, and Ishizakiella miurensis (Hanai, 1957), are reported with brief descriptions and images. Paradoxostoma setoense and L. pulchra were previously only known from Japan, while I. miurensis was previously reported from Korea. Here, we describe variability in hemipenis morphology observed in the Korean population. The new species is closely related to several East Asian species, but its sister species is P. rhomboideum Okubo, 1977. The primary difference between the new species and P. rhomboideum is morphology of the distal projections of the hemipenis, but minor differences exist in the details of the cheatotaxy of other appendages. This report also provides a list of all East Asian Paradoxostomatidae.

  • This study suggested the methods of record management for the heads of local government, which would be the most valuable among local records. In order to conduct a systematic record management for the heads of local government, this study suggested the methods of establishing a record management system regarding regulation arrangement, production registration, preservation, utilization and services. First of all, in order to estimate the record category of the heads of local government, the study examined the duties of the offices of the deputy heads of local government, secretary's offices and information offices, which have been subsidiary & assistance branches in charge of producing the record. In addition, it investigated the present conditions of record management for the heads of local government through the interviews with secretary offices and information offices belonging to 16 cities and provinces and the claims for information disclosure and found out the following problems. They included incomplete record production, non-registration of produced records, abolition of records and taking them out of designated places with due notice, record preservation period regardless of the term of the heads of local government, varied preservation period for the records of the heads of local government by local self-government, short preservation period of primary records and non-management of home pages after the term of the heads of local government. To solve such problems, the study suggested the regulation arrangement for record management and a record management system. The regulation arrangement could be obtained through the establishment of the administrative organization setup condolence etiquette enforcement regulation and the recorders in local government and the revision of operation rules and through the revision of the reference plan for operation rules enactment of recorders from National Archives of Korea. As for the record management system, the study suggested the establishment of production, registration and preservation system of records for the heads of local government and the utilization and services of their records. In order to produce and register the records, the unit assignments should be founded by department in charge of the duties related to the records of the heads of local government on record management criteria, thus letting the staff surely produce and register the records. In terms of utilization and services of the records, the study suggested the use of websites and drawing up the record list, through which each record viewer would be able to figure out which records have been managed through the list services and which services could be given to the residents, thus letting the residents and the heads of local government who finished their term of duties use the records.

  • This study reviewed how the appraisal process of the research records of the cases of Australia and the United States can be planed and managed. As the records schedule includes the list of core records and the appropriate disposal instructions, as well as the fact that it is a critical records management tool, the records schedule was considered for the basis of the research records appraisal system. The results of this study are as follows. First, the research records have to be appraised by research project because research is carried out into project units, and records management is effective when combined with the business practice and basic structure of the operating system. Second, the research institutions have to plan and manage one general disposal schedule and plural disposal schedules in the different research divisions. Finally, the characteristics of research style and the research record of each research institution should be recognized. Moreover, there is a need to link the research appraisal process of each research institution and the national records management system because the research records of public research institutions are public goods. Although various cases were not analyzed, this study is significant that the meaning and role of the research records schedule was reorganized. Also, a discriminatory records schedule according to the characteristics of research records was suggested.

  • Records Management System(RMS) is a system for managing electronic records in records centers. However, RMS cannot content itself with the purpose of introduction and user demands. This is caused by lack of understanding the user's RMS and a review of the lack of detailed features. Therefore, the aim of this study reviews and evaluates a detailed accession function of RMS. Firstly, the study reviewed a detailed function of accession in RMS. Analysing the business processes that each function carried out, it defined functional requirements and investigated functional compliance as the check list which produced by the functional requirements definition. Finally, it surveyed and interviewed public records managers and analyzed the present situation of functional implementation of records accession function. Afterwards, improvement plans and implications were proposed through comparison of global-standard.

  • The taxonomic revision was made on the tribe Harpalini (Coleoptera: Carabidae) in Korea. The Korean species are arranged after Kryzhanovskij et al. (1995) system with minor emendation. This present list is an attempt to bring together the available literature and collection-based information on fauna or taxa recorded from Korea (including some collections from the northern part of the Korean Peninsula, now North Korea). Materials examined for each species, an annotative checklist of Korean Carabidae, and the practical key to tribes and genera are provided. As a result, a total 86 species (and subspecies) belonging to 13 genera are recognized from the Korean Peninsula, of which one species (Harpalus egorovi) is new to South Korea. Distribution of two species, Harpalus tardus and H. tibeticus hsifanicus, are very doubtful in the Korean Peninsula. Besides, numerous new distribution records are given as based on materials deposited in various Universities and private collections.

  • This research was conducted to find the indigenous diatom species unrecorded in Korea from February to December 2016. The samples were taken at 28 sites of the coastal regions on the west coast of Korea and Jeju Island. Diatoms were collected mostly from sand and mud of tidal flats, including gravel, seaweed on the bottom and macrophytes floating in the seawater. Diatom specimens were observed by means of light and scanning electron microscopy. Twenty one species were discovered and added as new specimens to the Korean diatom flora, which are divided into 9 orders, 12 families, and 16 genera. The list and photographs of the species are included with the description of the morphological characteristics and distribution in Korea.
