As mobile Web technology becomes more increasingly applicable. the mobile contents market. especially the music downloading for mobile phones, has recorded remarkable growth. In spite of this rapid growth, customers experience high levels of frustration in the process of searching for desired music contents. It affects to a re-purchasing rate of customers and also. music mubile content providers experience a decrease in the benefit. Therefore, in aspects of a customer relationship management (CRM), a new way to increase a benefit by providing a convenient shopping environment to mobile customers is necessary. As an solution for this situation, we propose a new music recommender system to enhance the customers' search efficiency by combining collaborative filtering with mobile web mining and ordinal scale based customer preferences. Some experiments are also performed to verify that our proposed system is more effective than the current recommender systems in the mobile Web.
On the internet, the rating scores assigned by customers are considered as the preference information of themselves and thus, these can be used efficiently in the customer profile generation process of recommender system. However, since anyone is free to assign a score that has a biased rating, using this without any filtering can exhibit a reliability problem. In this study, we suggest the methodology that measures the reliability of rating scores and then applies them to the customer profile creation process. Unlikely to some related studies which measure the reliability on the user level, we measure the reliability on the individual rating score level. Experimental results show that prediction accuracy of recommender system can be enhanced when ratings with higher reliability are selectively used for the customer profile configuration.
This study proposed an effective automatic classification technique to identify dropout patterns of university students, and based on this, an intelligent recommender system to prevent dropouts. To this end, 1) a data processing method to improve the performance of machine learning was proposed based on actual enrollment/dropout data of university students, and 2) performance comparison experiments were conducted using five types of machine learning algorithms. 3) As a result of the experiment, the proposed method showed superior performance in all algorithms compared to the baseline method. The precision rate of discrimination of enrolled students was measured to be up to 95.6% when using a Random Forest(RF), and the recall rate of dropout students was measured to be up to 80.0% when using Naive Bayes(NB). 4) Finally, based on the experimental results, a method for using a counseling recommender system to give priority to students who are likely to drop out was suggested. It was confirmed that reasonable decision-making can be conducted through convergence research that utilizes technologies in the IT field to solve the educational issues, and we plan to apply various artificial intelligence technologies through continuous research in the future.

This paper proposes a framework for the development of the health recommender system, designed to cater COVID-19 symptoms' self-assessment and monitoring as well as to provide recommendations for self-care and medical treatments. The aim is to provide an online platform for Patient Under Investigation (PUI) and close contacts with positive COVID-19 cases in Malaysia who are under home quarantine to perform daily self-assessment in order to monitor their own symptoms' development. To achieve this, three main phases of research methods have been conducted where interviews have been done to thirty former COVID-19 patients in order to investigate the symptoms and practices conducted by the Malaysia Ministry of Health (MOH) in assessing and monitoring COVID-19 patients who were under home quarantine. From the interviews, an algorithm using user-based collaborative filtering technique with Pearson correlation coefficient similarity measure is designed to cater the self-assessment and symptoms monitoring as well as providing recommendations for self-care treatments as well as medical interventions if the symptoms worsen during the 14-days quarantine. The proposed framework will involve the development of the health recommender system for COVID-19 self-assessment and treatments using the progressive web application method with cloud database and PHP codes.

As a representative technique of recommender systems, collaborative filtering has been successfully in service through many commercial and academic systems. This technique recommends items highly rated by similar neighbor users, based on similarity of ratings on common items rated by two users. Recently research on time-aware recommender systems has been conducted, which attempts to improve system performance by reflecting user rating time of items. However, the decay rate uniform to past ratings has a risk of lowering the rating prediction performance of the system. This study proposes a rating time-aware similarity measure between users, which is a novel approach different from previous ones. The proposed approach considers changes of similarity value over time, not item rating time. In order to evaluate performance of the proposed method, experiments using various parameter values and types of time change functions are conducted, resulting in improving prediction accuracy of existing traditional similarity measures significantly.
The similarity weight, the pearson's correlation coefficient, which is used in the recommender system has a weak point that it cannot predict all of the prediction value. The similarity weight, the vector similarity, has a weak point of the high MAE although the prediction coverage using the vector similarity is higher than that using the pearson's correlation coefficient. The purpose of this study is to suggest how to raise the prediction coverage. Also, the MAE using the suggested method in this study was compared both with the MAE using the pearson's correlation coefficient and with the MAE using the vector similarity, so was the prediction coverage. As a result, it was found that the low of the MAE in the case of using the suggested method was higher than that using the pearson's correlation coefficient. However, it was also shown that it was lower than that using the vector similarity In terms of the prediction coverage, when the suggested method was compared with two similarity weights as I mentioned above, it was found that its prediction coverage was higher than that pearson's correlation coefficient as well as vector similarity.
Collaborative filtering, one of the most successful technologies among recommender systems, is a system assisting users in easily finding the useful information and supporting the decision making. However, despite of its success and popularity, one notable issue is incredibility of recommendations by unreliable users called shilling attacks. To deal with this problem, in this paper, we analyze the type of shilling attacks and propose a unique method of building a model for protecting the recommender system against manipulated ratings. In addition, we present a method of applying the model to collaborative filtering which is highly robust and stable to shilling attacks.

Outcome-based education (OBE) is a tried-and-true teaching technique based on a set of predetermined goals. Program Educational Objectives (PEOs), Program Outcomes (POs), and Course Outcomes (COs) are the components of OBE. At the end of each year, the Program Outcomes are evaluated, and faculty members can submit many recommended measures which dependent on the relationship between the program outcomes and its courses outcomes to improve the quality of program and hence the overall educational program. When a vast number of courses are considered, bad actions may be proposed, resulting in unwanted and incorrect decisions. In this paper, a recommender system, using collaborative filtering and association rules algorithms, is proposed for predicting the best relationship between the program outcomes and its courses in order to improve the attributes of the graduates. First, a parallel algorithm is used for Collaborative Filtering on Data Model, which is designed to increase the efficiency of processing big data. Then, a parallel similar learning outcomes discovery method based on matrix correlation is proposed by mining association rules. As a case study, the proposed recommender system is applied to the Computer Information Systems program, College of Computer Sciences and Information Technology, Al-Baha University, Saudi Arabia for helping Program Quality Administration improving the quality of program outcomes. The obtained results revealed that the suggested recommender system provides more actions for boosting Graduate Attributes quality.
In order to solve the user's information overload problem, recommender systems infer users' preferences and suggest items that match them. The collaborative filtering (CF), the most successful recommendation algorithm, has been improving performance until recently and applied to various business domains. Visual information, such as book covers, could influence consumers' purchase decision making. However, CF-based recommender systems have rarely considered for visual information. In this study, we propose VizNCS, a CF-based deep learning model that uses visual information as additional information. VizNCS consists of two phases. In the first phase, we build convolutional neural networks (CNN) to extract visual features from image data. In the second phase, we supply the visual features to the NCF model that is known to easy to extend to other information among the deep learning-based recommendation systems. As the results of the performance comparison experiments, VizNCS showed higher performance than the vanilla NCF. We also conducted an additional experiment to see if the visual information affects differently depending on the product category. The result enables us to identify which categories were affected and which were not. We expect VizNCS to improve the recommender system performance and expand the recommender system's data source to visual information.
Recommender systems (RS) that predict a set of items a target user is likely to prefer have been extensively studied in academia and have been aggressively implemented by many companies such as Google, Netflix, eBay, and Amazon. Data imputation alleviates the data sparsity problem occurring in recommender systems by inferring missing ratings and adding them to the original data. In this paper, we point out the drawbacks of existing approaches and make suggestions for data imputation techniques. We also justify our suggestions through extensive experiments.
