  • The recognition of human emotional state is one of the most important components for efficient human-human and human- computer interaction. In this paper, four emotions such as fear, disgust, joy, and neutral was a main problem of classifying emotion recognition and an approach of visual-stimuli for eliciting emotion based on physiological signals of skin conductance (SC), skin temperature (SKT), and blood volume pulse (BVP) was used to design the experiment. In order to reach the goal of solving this problem, half-against-half (HAH) multi-class support vector machine (SVM) with Gaussian radial basis function (RBF) kernel was proposed showing the effective techniques to improve the accuracy rate of emotion classification. The experimental results proved that the proposed was an efficient method for solving the emotion recognition problems with the accuracy rate of 90% of neutral, 86.67% of joy, 85% of disgust, and 80% of fear.

  • In this paper, we will introduce a new corner detector for the wafer die position recognition. The die position recognition procedure is necessary for WSCSP(Wafer Scale Chip Scale Packaging) technology, decide the accuracy of post-procedure. We present a hierarchical gray level corner detection method for the recognition of the die position from a wafer image. The new corner detector divides the corner region into many homocentric circles, and calculates the comer response and the angle of direction about each circle to get an accurate toner point. The new corner detector has a hierarchical structure so it can detect comer point more quickly than general gray level corner detector.

  • After and before the education of business ethics, the recognitive response and interpretation of personnel and information ethics to the standards of business ethics are as follows. 1. In case of personnel ethics, before the education of business ethics, selfishness is at its peak and utilitarianism is in the lowest. It can be understood that it is faithful to the principles of capitalism. 2. In case of personnel ethics, before the education of business ethics, relativism is in the highest level and utilitarianism is in the lowest. Because it means not agreeing on standardized economic equality and the choice of proper ethical standards. It can be understood that the education of business ethics has an effect on ethical making-decision. 3. In case of information ethics, after and before the education of business ethics, righteousness is at its peak and utilitarianism is in the lowest level. I can be interpreted that it means thinking highly of the value of justice and not agreeing to standardized economic equality. 4. The above results show that the education of business ethics has an influence on the recognition of personnel ethics and is effectively used to improve the recognition of personnel and information ethics.

  • This paper reports a parallel architecture in a HMM based speech recognition system for a low-power LSI design. The proposed architecture calculates output probability of continuous HMM (CHMM) by using concurrent and pipeline processing. They enable to reduce memory access and have high computing efficiency. The novel point is the efficient use of register arrays that reduce memory access considerably compared with any conventional method. The implemented system can achieve a real time response with lower clock in a middle size vocabulary recognition task (100-1000 words) by using this technique.

  • In this paper, a WiFi phone system with distributed speech recognition is implemented. The WiFi phone with voice-activated dialing and its functions are explained. Features of the input speech are extracted and are sent to the interactive voice response (IVR) server according to the real-time transport protocol (RTP). Feature extraction is based on the European Telecommunication Standards Institute (ETSI) standard front-end, but is modified to reduce the processing time. The time for front-end processing on a WiFi phone is compared with that in a PC.

  • Because the noise is the main cause for decreasing the performance at speech recognition, the place or environment is very important in speech recognition. To improve the speech recognition performance in the real situations where various extraneous noises are abundant, a novel combination of FIR and Wiener filters is proposed and experimented. The combination resulted in improved accuracy and reduced processing time, enabling fast analysis and response in emergency situations. Usually, there are many dangerous situations in our city life, so for the smarter city it is necessary to detect many types of sound in various environment. Therefore this paper is about how to detect many types of sound in real city, especially on CCTV. This paper is for implementing the smarter city by detecting many types of sounds and filtering one of the emergency sound in this sound stream. And then it can be possible to handle with the emergency or dangerous situation.

  • This paper proposes a multi-touch detection technology that can be applied to large LCDs. To achieve this goal, a set of IR LEDs and sensors was used to construct an IR matrix, and a new algorithm based on Hough transform was applied. This approach reduced the "Ghost" response of the multi-touch detection technology to make it better than other IR touch recognition technologies, and showed robust performance in terms of multi-touch recognition.

  • In this paper, we implemented a single-chip speech recognizer using the TMS320C2000 DSPs. For this implementation, we had developed very small-sized speaker-dependent recognition engine based on dynamic time warping, which is especially suited for embedded systems where the system resources are severely limited. We carried out some optimizations including speed optimization by programming time-critical functions in assembly language, and code size optimization and effective memory allocation. For the TMS320F2801 DSP which has 12Kbyte SRAM and 32Kbyte flash ROM, the recognizer developed can recognize 10 commands. For the TMS320F2808 DSP which has 36Kbyte SRAM and 128Kbyte flash ROM, it has additional capability of outputting the speech sound corresponding to the recognition result. The speech sounds for response, which are captured when the user trains commands, are encoded using ADPCM and saved on flash ROM. The single-chip recognizer needs few parts except for a DSP itself and an OP amp for amplifying microphone output and anti-aliasing. Therefore, this recognizer may play a similar role to dedicated speech recognition chips.

  • Computer vision-based gesture recognition systems consist of image segmentation, object tracking and decision. However, it is difficult to segment an object from image for gesture in computer systems because of vaious illuminations and backgrounds. In this paper, we describe a method to learn features for segmentation, which improves the performance of computer vision-based hand-gesture recognition systems. Systems interact with a user to acquire exact training data and segment information according to a predefined plan. System provides some models to the user, takes pictures of the user's response and then analyzes the pictures with models and a prior knowledge. The system sends messages to the user and operates learning module to extract information with the analyzed result.

  • RAP80 plays a key role in DNA damage responses by recognizing K63-linked polyubiquitin moieties through its two ubiquitin-interacting motif (UIM) domains. The linker between the two UIMs possesses a phosphorylation site, but the relationship between phosphorylation and polyubiquitin recognition remains elusive. We investigated the interaction between a phosphorylation-mimic RAP80 mutant S101E and linear polyubiquitins, structurally equivalent to the K63-linked ones, using isothermal titration calorimetry (ITC). ITC analysis revealed differential binding affinities for linear tetraubiquitin by otherwise equivalent UIMs in S101E. Mutational analysis supported such differential polyubiquitin recognition by S101E. Our results suggest a potential crosstalk between polyubiquitin recognition and phosphorylation in RAP80.
