간척농지에서의 오염물질 유출특성(지역환경 \circled3) (Runoff of Pollutants in a Reclaimed Paddy Field)

  • In order to control the water quality of freshwater lake in tidal reclaimed land, it is needed to evaluate accurate amount of pollutant loadings from reclaimed paddy field. This study was carried out to investigate the pollutant loading from a reclaimed paddy field. Site of the study was a paddy field located in Taeho reclaimed land, with an areas of 38.5 hectares. The runoff loadings of Total-Nitrogen, Total-Phosphorus, and Chemical Oxygen Demand were 49.5 kg/㏊/yr, 3.2 kg/㏊/yr and 154.0 kg/㏊/yr, respectively. The runoff loadings in Total-Nitrogen and Total-Phosphorus from this study were much higher values than the pollutant load factor of Total-Nitrogen and Total-Phosphorus from the paddy field published by the Ministry of Environment.

Characteristics of TN and TP in Runoff from Reclaimed Paddy Field of Fine Sandy Loam

  • This study investigated the runoff from rice paddy located on reclaimed fine sandy loam soil to provide data for the development of policies to protect water quality of estuaries. Total N (TN), Total P (TP) concentrations and runoff loads at outlet were monitored from 2006 to 2008. Soil phosphate adsorptivity was measured and compared with typical paddy soil in watersheds. TP concentration of the paddy water and TP runoff loads were much greater than those of typical paddy field in watershed because phosphate adsoptivity in reclaimed paddy field of fine sandy loam appeared to be a third of those of typical paddy soils by relatively low soil OM and high sand content of the reclaimed soil. Thus, nutrient runoff, particularly phosphate from the reclaimed paddy field needs to be managed more thoroughly to protect estuarine water quality.

Relationships between Methane Production and Sulfate Reduction in Reclaimed Rice Field Soils

  • The change in relationships between methane production and sulfate reduction was investigated in reclaimed rice field soils at different time points after reclamation of tidal flat in Korea. Sulfate concentrations of soils in the ca. 60-year-old and 26-year-old reclaimed rice fields were much lower than that in a natural tidal flat. During 60 d of anaerobic incubation, total methane production and sulfate consumption of the soil slurries were 7.0 ${\mu}$mol $CH_4$/g and 8.2 ${\mu}$mol $SO_4^{2-}$/g in the 60-year-old rice field, 5.6 ${\mu}$mol $CH_4$/g and 12.7 mmol $SO_4^{2-}$/g in the 26-year-old rice field, and ca. 0 mmol $CH_4$/g and 22.4 ${\mu}$mol $SO_4^{2-}$/g in a natural tidal flat. Relative percent electron flow through sulfate reduction in the 60-year-old rice field was much lower (50.8%) compared with the 26-year-old rice field (69.3%) and the tidal flat (99.9%). The addition of an inhibitor of methanogenesis (2-bromoethanesulfonate) had no effect on sulfate reduction in the soil slurries of the reclaimed rice fields. However, instant stimulation of methane production was achieved with addition of an inhibitor of sulfate reduction (molybdate) in the soil slurries from the 26-year-old reclaimed rice field. The specific inhibitor experiments suggest that the relationship of methanogenesis and sulfate reduction might become mutually exclusive or syntrophic depending on sulfate content in the soil after reclamation. Sulfate, thus sulfate reduction activity of sulfate-reducing bacteria, would be an important environmental factor that inhibits methane production and determines the major pathway of electron and carbon flow in anaerobic carbon mineralization of reclaimed rice field soils.

Effects of Compost and Gypsum on Soil Water Movement and Retention of a Reclaimed Tidal Land

  • Compost and gypsum can be used to ameliorate soil physicochemical properties in reclaimed tidal lands as an organic and inorganic amendment, respectively. To evaluate effects of compost and gypsum on soil water movement and retention as a soil physical property, we measured the soil's saturated hydraulic conductivity and field capacity after treating the soil collected in a reclaimed tidal land with compost and gypsum. Saturated hydraulic conductivity of soil increased when compost was applied at the conventional application rate of $30Mg\;ha^{-1}$. However, the further application of compost insignificantly (P > 0.05) increased saturated hydraulic conductivity. On the other hand, additional gypsum application significantly increased soil saturated hydraulic conductivity while it decreased soil field capacity, implying the possible effect of gypsum on flocculating soil colloidal particles. The results in this study suggested that compost and gypsum can be used to improve hydrological properties of reclaimed tidal lands through increasing soil water retention and movement, respectively.

일반답과 간척답에서 사료용벼 재배시 생육특성 및 사료가치 (Growth Characteristics and Feed Value of Whole Crop Silage Rice on Paddy Field and Reclaimed Tidal Land)

  • 본 연구는 간척지에서 사료용벼를 재배하여 조사료를 생산함으로써 간척지 이용률 증진과 조사료생산의 두가지 가능성을 검토해보고자 일반답과 간척답에서 사료용벼를 재배하여 생육특성, 총체수량 및 사료가치 등을 조사하였다. 1. 출수기는 일반답에서 8월15일에서 8월30일, 간척답에서 8월14일에서 8월 29일이었으며, 간척답이 일반답보다 1~2일 빨랐으며, 목우는 일반답에서 8월 26일, 간척답에서 8월 27일로 수원 544호를 제외하고는 가장 늦었다. 2. 초장은 일반답에서 105~135 cm범위이었고, 간척답에서 97~126 cm범위였으며 일반답에서는 목양이 간척답에서는 수원544호가 가장 컸다. 주당경수는 일반답과 간척답 모두 녹양이 16개로 가장 많았고 총체수량은 일반답은 $15.26{\sim}23.24MT\;ha^{-1}$, 간척답은 $11.94{\sim}18.89MT\;ha^{-1}$범위이었으며 목우벼가 두지역에서 가장 많이 생산되었다. 각품종별 수량은 일반답에 비하여 78~84% 수준이었다. 3. 단백질 함량은 일반답에서는 녹양벼가 높았으나 간척답에서는 6.7~8.7%로서 상대적으로 낮은 수치를 보였고 목양벼가 8.7%로 가장 높았다. 각 품종별 NDF는 31.2~55.5% 수준을 나타냈으며 ADF는 일반답에 비하여 큰 차이를 보이지 않았으며 가소화 양분총량을 계산해본 결과 일반답에서 목우벼가 71.2%로 가장 높았고 전체적으로 60%이상의 함량을 보여 간척지에서 재배하여도 사료로서의 가치는 충분할 것으로 생각되었다. 4. TDN수량을 비교해본 결과 일반답에서 TDN수량은 목우벼가 $16.54MT\;ha^{-1}$로 가장 높았으며 간척답에서도 $12.69MT\;ha^{-1}$로 가장 높은 수량을 보였다. 5. 이상의 결과로 간척지에서 사료용벼를 재배할 경우 일반답에 비하여 80%정도의 수량을 보여 간척지에서 재배가능성을 확인하였으며 목우를 재배할 경우 수량 및 사료가치면에서 가장 좋을 것으로 생각된다.

Analysis of Plant Height, Crop Cover, and Biomass of Forage Maize Grown on Reclaimed Land Using Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Technology

  • Unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) and sensor technologies are rapidly developing and being usefully utilized for spatial information-based agricultural management and smart agriculture. Until now, there have been many difficulties in obtaining production information in a timely manner for large-scale agriculture on reclaimed land. However, smart agriculture that utilizes sensors, information technology, and UAV technology and can efficiently manage a large amount of farmland with a small number of people is expected to become more common in the near future. In this study, we evaluated the productivity of forage maize grown on reclaimed land using UAV and sensor-based technologies. This study compared the plant height, vegetation cover ratio, fresh biomass, and dry biomass of maize grown on general farmland and reclaimed land in South Korea. A biomass model was constructed based on plant height, cover ratio, and volume-based biomass using UAV-based images and Farm-Map, and related estimates were obtained. The fresh biomass was estimated with a very precise model (R2 =0.97, root mean square error [RMSE]=3.18 t/ha, normalized RMSE [nRMSE]=8.08%). The estimated dry biomass had a coefficient of determination of 0.86, an RMSE of 1.51 t/ha, and an nRMSE of 12.61%. The average plant height distribution for each field lot was about 0.91 m for reclaimed land and about 1.89 m for general farmland, which was analyzed to be a difference of about 48%. The average proportion of the maize fraction in each field lot was approximately 65% in reclaimed land and 94% in general farmland, showing a difference of about 29%. The average fresh biomass of each reclaimed land field lot was 10 t/ha, which was about 36% lower than that of general farmland (28.1 t/ha). The average dry biomass in each field lot was about 4.22 t/ha in reclaimed land and about 8 t/ha in general farmland, with the reclaimed land having approximately 53% of the dry biomass of the general farmland. Based on these results, UAV and sensor-based images confirmed that it is possible to accurately analyze agricultural information and crop growth conditions in a large area. It is expected that the technology and methods used in this study will be useful for implementing field-smart agriculture in large reclaimed areas.

Evaluation of Engineering Properties of Soft Clay in the Daebul Reclaimed Area

  • To identify the soft marine clay of the Daebul reclaimed area, the south western part of Korea, and determine their engineering properties, a series of the laboratory and field tests are conducted. The main findings are summarized from laboratory and field investigations. It is also formulated the basic geotechnical characteristic data for the porject area. The established correlations for the engineering properties are reviewed and their applicabilities are studied.

토양 조건에 따른 농업용 트랙터의 견인 성능 분석 (Analysis of Traction Performance for Agricultural Tractor According to Soil Condition)

  • Traction performance of a tractor varies depending on soil conditions. Sinkage and slip of the driving wheel for tractor frequently occur in a reclaimed land. The objective of this study was to develop a tractor suitable for a reclaimed land. Traction performance was evaluated according to soil conditions of reclaimed land and paddy field. Field experiments were conducted at two test sites (Fields A: paddy field; and Field B: reclaimed land). The tractor load measurement system was composed of an axle rotation speed sensor, a torque meter, a six-component load cell, GPS, and a DAQ (Data Acquisition System). Soil properties including soil texture, water content, cone index, and electrical conductivity (EC) were measured. Referring to previous researches, the tractor traveling speed was set to B3 (7.05 km/h), which was frequently used in ridge plow tillage. Soil moisture contents were 33.2% and 48.6% in fields A and B, respectively. Cone index was 2.1 times higher in field A than in field B. When working in the reclaimed land, slip ratios were about 10.5% and 33.1% for fields A and B, respectively. The engine load was used almost 100% of all tractors under the two field conditions. Traction powers were 31.9 kW and 24.2 kW for fields A and B, respectively. Tractive efficiencies were 83.3% and 54.4% for fields A and B, respectively. As soil moisture increased by 16.4%, the tractive efficiency was lowered by about 28.9%. Traction performance of tractor was significantly different according to soil conditions of fields A and B. Therefore, it is necessary to improve the traction performance of tractor for smooth operations in all soil conditions including a reclaimed land by reflecting data of this study.

연약한 준설 매립 점성토지반의 자중압밀 과정에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Self-Weight Consolidation Procedure of Very Soft Ground Reclaimed by Dredging Clayey Soil)

  • 본 연구는 준설매립 점성토 지반의 토질정수를 효과적으로 구할 수 있는 자중 및 침투압밀시첨 기법과 현장 모형 실험장치의 개발을 중심으로 수행되었다. 이러한 모형 실험장치와 시험기법개발은 연약한 매립 지반의 침강-자중-재하압밀 과정에 대한 재현을 가능케하였다. 이러한 실험적 연구는 준설 점성토 지반의 자중압밀특성을 중심으로 이루어졌으며, 이론적인 연구로 매립점토 지반의 압밀해석시 Terzaghi의 1차원 압밀이론의 적용한계 등을 지적하였고, 이러한 문제점을 고려한 Mikasa의 자중 압밀이론을 토대로 유한차분해석을 실시하였다. 실내시험에 의해 군산 매립점토의 토질정수로 비체적-유효응력-투수계수 관계를 구하였으며 현장 모형실험을 통하여 투입단계부터 간극수압-토압-수위관계 및 침하량 등을 측정하였다. 시험에 의해 얻어진 결과는 Terzaghi의 방법과 Mikasa 자중압밀의 차분해석에 의해 비교.분석되었으며, 실측 침하량은 Terzaghi의 이론보다 Mikasa의 자중압밀이론이 비교적 잘 일치하였다.

간척지 적응성 잡곡 선발 및 간척지 재배 수수의 기능성 향상 효과 (Screening for Fittest Miscellaneous Cereals for Reclaimed Land and Functionality Improvement of Sorghum bicolor Cultivated in Reclaimed Land)

  • 새만금 간척지에서 적응 가능한 잡곡자원을 선발하기 위하여 조, 기장, 수수 등 3종의 잡곡 유전자원 84종을 수집하였다. 수집 자원을 간척지에서 재배하면서 적응성을 검정한 결과 수수의 간척지 적응성이 가장 우수하였다. 대표적인 생육 요소인 초장의 간척지/일반지 비율을 측정한 결과 수수가 0.82로 간척지에서도 일반지에 비하여 크게 떨어지지 않는 생육상황을 보이는 것으로 확인되었고 기장은 0.61, 조는 0.51 순이었다. 수수자원 중 우수한 간척지 적응성을 가진 유전자원으로 까만수수, 사탕대죽, 남풍찰 3종이 선발되었다. 사탕대죽은 간척지 수량 229.4 kg/10a로 간척지/일반지 수량 비율이 89.3%이었으며 까만수수는 227.4 kg/10a로 간척지/일반지 수량 비율 87.8%를 나타내었고 남풍찰은 간척지에서의 수량이 일반지 수량의 86.0%인 239.6 kg/10a로 우수한 간척지 적응성 자원으로 선발되었다. 선발자원의 내염성 정도를 구명하기 위하여 포트에서 천일염을 사용하여 염농도를 1.0%까지 처리하고 지상부 및 지하부 생육과 광합성 능력 등을 검정한 결과 사탕대죽, 남풍찰, 까만수수 모두 높은 내염 정도를 가진 것으로 확인되었으며 가장 강한 내염성을 가진 수수 자원은 사탕대죽이었다. 간척지 생산 수수 자원의 기능성 향상을 확인하기 위하여 폴리페놀과 플라보노이드 함량 그리고 유해 활성산소 제거능을 확인하였고 ${\alpha}$-glicosidase 억제 활성을 통하여 항당뇨 활성을 분석하였다. 기능성 분석 항목 모두에서 간척지 재배 생산물의 기능성이 일반지 생산물에 비하여 향상되는 것을 확인되었는데 항산화 성분인 폴리페놀은 간척지 재배 시 함량 증가율 범위가 2%~26%이었으며, 플라보노이드 함량은 8.5%~55.6%로 함량이 증가하였다. DPPH 소거능도 간척지 재배시 16.7%p~47.0%p 증가하여 유해 활성산소 제거능력도 향상되는 것을 알 수 있었다. ${\alpha}$-glicosidase 억제 활성도 선발자원별로 18.4%p~19.9%p 높아서 항당뇨 활성도 간척지 재배에서 증가하였다.
