  • PEM(proton exchange membrane) fuel cell have been receiving considerable interest as power source because of high-energy efficiency. However by using reforming hydrogen gas, CO poisoning occur in anode. To improve CO tolerance PtRu catalysts were prepared by galvanostatic pulse electrodeposition. The composition(atomic ratio) of catalysts are controllable by using different concentrations of PtRu solutions. Also, the particle sizes of PtRu on carbon are similar to about $3.5{\sim}4nm$ regardless of concentration.

  • IEC standards do not require to limit the earthing resistance of the concrete-embedded foundation earthing electrode which is installed to a specific value. However, in Korea the value of $5{\Omega}$ and below applies to the earthing resistance for a domestic customer whose receiving voltage is 22.9kV. This paper calculates the minimum area and volume of the concrete-embedded foundation earthing electrode in order to obtain a specific value of the earthing resistance when the electrode of the building's lightning protection system and that of its power system are interconnected. It also suggested the most appropriate method of installing the foundation earthing electrode, taking the electric characteristics of concrete into account.

  • This paper presents the impact of Japanese radio source on the S-Band communication between KOMPSAT-2 satellite and TT&C ground system. Major specifications such as transmitting EIRP (Effective Isotropic Radiated Power) and location of Japanese terrestrial station were informed from Radio Research Laboratory in Korea Communication Commission. To estimate path loss in S-Band, the distance between Japanese station and TT&C ground system was obtained by using COTS (Commercial Off-The-Shelf) software. After that the signal strength of Japanese radio source placed at the TT&C ground system was calculated from link parameters such as transmitting EIRP, path loss, and receiving antenna gain. Consequently, this paper shows that the degradation caused by Japanese radio source is acceptable to TT&C ground system for satellite operation.

  • [ ${\pi}-conjugated$ ] organic and polymeric semiconductors are receiving considerable attention because of their suitability as an active layer for electronic devices. An organic inverter with a full swing and a high gain can be obtained through the good qualities of the transfer characteristics of organic thin-film transistors (OTFTs); for example, a low leakage current, a threshold voltage ($V_{th}$) close to 0 V, and a low sub-threshold swing. One of the most critical problems with traditional organic inverters is the high operating voltage, which is often greater than 20 V. The high operating voltage may result in not only high power consumption but also device instabilities such as hysteresis and a shift of $V_{th}$ during operation. In this paper, low-voltage and little-hysteresis pentacene OTFTs and inverters in conjunction with PEALD $Al_{2}O_{3}\;and\;ZrO_{2}$ as the gate dielectrics are demonstrated and the relationships between the transfer characteristics of OTFT and the voltage transfer characteristics (VTCs) of inverter are investigated.

  • Wireless sensor networks consist of resource constraint devices which typically send data measured by sensors attached to the end devices towards a coordinator. One of the best solution for wireless sensor networks is ZigBee, where it is wireless standard introduced for low power, low cost wireless communication with moderate data rates. In this paper, we present porting of Z-Stack and implementation of UART on the TI CC2530. We show that our implemented board works correctly in terms of transmitting and receiving data via serial port.

  • A prediction model is proposed to describe the path loss in propagation environment of indoor microcell. This model includes the lineal corridor for line--of-sight(LOS) and T-shaped corridor for non-line-of-sight(NLOS). In computation of receiving power the ray tracing technique based on image method is utilized and also reflected waves bounced on the walls and ceilings are considered. To check validity of the computed resuls cross checks between the predicted and measured are being made, which shows a close agreement for LOS case whereas somewhat disagreement for NLOS case. UTD technique is incorporated with propagation path determination algorithm in the treatment of NLOS case.

  • In a radar system using a continuous waveform, the separated antennas are needed for transmission and reception to increase the sensitivity of the receiver channel. Even for these separated antennas, the serious intereference in the weak echo signal can occur due to the relatively strong power of the transmitted waveform. Therefore, in this paper, the effects of this leakage interference on the receiving signal are analyzed according to the degree of antenna isolation.

  • In microcell or picocell mobile communication using cellular method, we suggested propagation prediction model which can accurately and rapidly interpret mobile communication propagation environment in urban, when subscriber service is done based on the main road in urban. Further, we simulated suggested propagation prediction model under the hypothesis of urban propagation environment of PCS mobile communication, analyzed receiving field strength by area within a cell, and finally suggested the optimal transmitting power and location condition of microcell or picocell mobile communication base station

  • Nonlinear harmonic waves generated at cracked interfaces are investigated both experimentally and theoretically. A compact tension specimen is fabricated and the amplitude of transmitted wave is analyzed as a function of position along the fatigued crack surface. In order to measure as many nonlinear harmonic components as possible a broadband Lithium Niobate ($LiNbO_3$) transducers are employed together with a calibration technique for making absolute amplitude measurements with fluid-coupled receiving transducers. Cracked interfaces are shown to generate high acoustic nonlinearities which are manifested as harmonies in the power spectrum of the received signal. The first subharmonic (f/2) and the second harmonic (2f) waves are found to be dominant nonlinear components for an incident toneburst signal of frequency f. To explain the observed nonlinear behavior a partially closed crack is modeled by planar half interfaces that can account for crack parameters such as crack opening displacement and crack surface conditions. The simulation results show reasonable agreements with the experimental results.

  • Recently, many changes have been made to people's life patterns as the technological advances in the ICT industry. The fusion of smart phones and various IT technologies has brought people convenience and welfare. A typical example of such fusion is the smart home. However, the existing smart home systems are difficult to be changed or extended. So we design a new smart home system with extensibility that can easily adopt legacy appliances and be scaled up. Among a variety of smart home features, this paper deals with IoT Devices that are responsible for controlling power or transmitting and receiving sensing values, IoT Gateway that connects users and consumer electronics via Internet, and Smart Home Manager that monitors and controls these components in the proposed smart home system.
