A Practical Effectiveness Analysis on Alert Verification Method Based on Vulnerability Inspection (취약점 점검을 활용한 보안이벤트 검증 방법의 실증적 효과분석)

  • Cyber threats on the Internet are tremendously increasing and their techniques are also evolving constantly. Intrusion Detection System (IDS) is one of the powerful solutions for detecting and analyzing the cyber attacks in realtime. Most organizations deploy it into their networks and operate it for security monitoring and response service. However, IDS has a fatal problem in that it raises a large number of alerts and most of them are false positives. In order to cope with this problem, many approaches have been proposed for the purpose of automatically identifying whether the IDS alerts are caused by real attacks or not. In this paper, we present an alert verification method based on correlation analysis between vulnerability inspection results for real systems that should be protected and the IDS alerts. In addition, we carry out practical experiments to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed verification method using two types of real data, i.e., the IDS alerts and the vulnerability inspection results.

An IPTV Network Infrastructure for Organizing an Extendible IPTV Architecture (확장형 IPTV 아키텍처 구성을 위한 IPTV 네트워크 인프라스트럭쳐 연구)

  • An IPTV has emerged as a widespread system when a realtime network and broadcasting system have progressed. Interestingly, it can also be organized with IPTV STBs and FC-AL for a high-quality TV content-sharing architecture. It is, however, not easy to configure a large community network with the FC-AL since it only has a 7-bit address space with supporting up to 127 users in the FC-AL single loop. We, therefore, propose an extendible FC-AL-based IPTV network architecture using a FC switch device. In this article, our suggested architecture shows a superb startup delay, such as less than 20msec. In addition, it demonstrates outstanding extendibility, such that the number of accomodable users increases almost linearly according to adding loops. Lastly, it reveals exceptional time-shifting hours, i. e., which supports more than 140 hours with 1000 users.

Improvement of Positioning Performance for GPS Module(KGP9800C) (GPS모듈(KGP9800C)의 측위성능개선)

  • This paper describes the positioning accuracy of GPS moduls (KGP9800C, KiRyung) which need to record the operating position of fishing boat as realtime processing in order to develope auto recording system of fishing boat's operating information, and then it's positioning accuracy for DGPS receiver (MGP-100D, Shin-A) and DGPS beacon (GP-36, Furuno) were analyzed. Futhermore, it was examined the positioning error of the GPS module with processing algorithm to minimize the effect of the signal fluctuations. The results indicate that the positioning error is able to decrease 5m as 2drms, and such improvement of positioning performance for GPS module (KGP9800C) can be provide the basic design data in the development of the auto recording system of fishing boat's operating information.

  • An application's demonstration takes much time because there are a number of interactions involved. When a demonstration is indeed necessary, a separate session of demonstration is commonly carried out besides a presentation. If one can control the application wirelessly using mobile devices, he can present his messages effectively by having a live self-paced demonstration. This method of demonstration has not been possible to implement due to the limitations on performance and/or screen size of feature phones. Lately commercialized smartphones, however, are equipped with better performance and various features so that they can be utilized to implement the new demonstration method. With these smartphones, one can view the application images right on mobile devices to control applications directly. This paper describes the issues of design and implementation of a mobile-based demonstration system, 'Smart Demo'.

  • The Internet had been taken properties which were both a slow speed and low-bandwidth of the first time. It was impossible to transmit large multimedia data because of a Internet properties. After tens of Year Passed, many people began to transmit multimedia data in the Internet which had fast-speed and high-bandwidth. Some people want to team classes to be taught in school through the Internet. And, educators wish to use multimedia data in the educational field. Due to previous reasons, many parts in the educational field had tried to join real-time objects to multimedia objects. But, real-time data didn’t appear easily due to many faults like network errors and system bugs if we want to control data in order to teach and learn classes. Then, this paper separates real-time and unreal-time data and controls these data that aye made a time scheduler to have time information in the extended SMIL-file for deceasing these faults.

  • The visual implementation of 3-dimensional national environment is focused by the requirement and importance in the fields such as, national development plan, telecommunication facility deployment plan, railway construction, construction engineering, spatial city development, safety and disaster prevention engineering. The currently used DEM system using contour lines, which embodies national geographic information based on the 2-D digital maps and facility information has limitation in implementation in reproducing the 3-D spatial city. Moreover, this method often neglects the altitude of the rail way infrastructure which has narrow width and long length. There it is needed to apply laser measurement technique in the spatial target object to obtain accuracy. Currently, the LiDAR data which combines the laser measurement skill and GPS has been introduced to obtain high resolution accuracy in the altitude measurement. In this paper, we first investigate the LiDAR based researches in advanced foreign countries, then we propose data a generation scheme and an algorithm for the optimal manage and synthesis of railway facility system in our 3-D spatial terrain information. For this object, LiDAR based height data transformed to DEM, and the realtime unification of the vector via digital image mapping and raster via exactness evaluation is transformed to make it possible to trace the model of generated 3-dimensional railway model with long distance for 3D tract model generation.

  • A concept of the "e-Navigation" was introduced in 2005 and implementation strategies are under way by IMO/IALA in the maritime safety area. Specially VTS is an important maritime traffic monitoring and aids to navigation system which is aims to improve safety, navigation efficiency and protect the marine environment. The demand of the inter-VTS networking has been increased and standardization is underway for realization of shore side collaboration for maritime safety in IALA. But there may be security problems in the inter-VTS networks if they have not proper security mechanism. The hacking of realtime ship position and sensitive maritime surveillance information caused a critical accident of vessel, human life and environment by terrorist. This paper aims to design of a secure inter-VTS network structure and related security protocol for secure sharing of sensitive maritime data.

  • A Military L-V-C system consists of distributed complex systems integrating Live systems working on physical wall-clock time, Virtual systems ruled by virtually pseudo realtime events on a computer, and Constructive systems only depending on the causal relationship between the continuous events. Recently many needs for L-V-C training systems are increasing in order to achieve the maximum training effects with low costs. While theoretical/logical researches or only partially interworking technologies have been proposed, there are few perfect interworking architectures for totally interoperating L-V-C systems in world-wide. In this paper, we design and develop a novel interworking architecture based on data centric middleware for the consistent global time with the same states on the entire L-V-C data and events by means of integrating the heterogeneous distributed middleware standards of each L-V-C system. In addition, simulated L-V-C systems based on real systems will be used for the efficiency and performance of the developed interworking architecture.

  • Companies are now rapidly entering the realm of the realtime economy named 'Now Economy'. 'Now Economy' features the measurement and assessment, accelerating speed of decision making about business. According to this, companies intend to change their disposition to be able to make quick and accurate decision by gathering informations rapidly and correctly, and then by processing that. Applications of ICT can be possible to change the new decision system of companies. In this thesis, the new decision system through amalgamations of BPMS, Mobile, Cloud Service, Hadoop, BI and AI is presented. It will be able to make decision quickly and accurately by collecting all information between the most efficiently managed process and formal and informal data inside company through this, and then by combining changes with situations outside company.

  • This paper aims at developing remote control system to control and monitor distributed various devices such as UPS through internet. TCP/IP(Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol) and UPS operated in a row are adopted for the network management protocol and the application device, respectively. For controlling and monitoring distributed devices in realtime, java-environment software is constructed. Also, HelloDevice, general-use interface controller between network device and applied device is proposed. Finally, serial communication such as RS-232C is used between controller and applied device.
