A Systolic Parallel Simulation System for Dynamic Traffic Assignment : SPSS-DTA

  • This paper presents a first year report of an ongoing multi-year project to develop a systolic parallel simulation system for dynamic traffic assignment. The fundamental approach to the simulation is systolic parallel processing based on autonomous agent modeling. Agents continuously act on their own initiatives and access to database to get the status of the simulation world. Various agents are defined in order to populate the simulation world. In particular existing modls and algorithm were incorporated in designing the behavior of relevant agents such as car-following model headway distribution Frank-Wolf algorithm and so on. Simulation is based on predetermined routes between centroids that are computed off-line by a conventional optimal path-finding algorithm. Iterating the cycles of optimization-then-simulation the proposed system will provide a realistic and valuable traffic assignment. Gangnum-Gu district in Seoul is selected for the target are for the modeling. It is expected that realtime traffic assignment services can be provided on the internet within 3 years.

  • This paper proposes a compliance robot control algorithm using fuzzy adaptive controller and fuzzy compliance vector generator. In the compliance robot control, we need more adaptivity because the linear modeling in robot dynamics is getting more difficult by contact with external environment. Existing adapitive controllers have difficulty in realtime processing. So in order to overcome it, We adopt fuzzy adaptive controller and propose fuzzy compliance vector generator for flexible compliant motion. We analyze and confirm the proposed algorithm by surface processing experiment with a control system implemented by VME system.

  • This paper presents a dynamic resource allocation algorithm with multi-frequency time-division multiple access for the return link of interactive satellite multimedia networks such as digital video broadcasting return channel via satellite systems. The proposed timeslot assignment algorithm, called the very efficient dynamic timeslot assignment (VEDTA) algorithm, gives an optimal assignment plan within a very short period. The optimality and computational efficiency of this algorithm demonstrate that it will be useful in field applications.

  • Dweller's safety is one of the most important factors for the evaluation of building performance. The process of conventional safety design which is normally performed by the codes and designer's experiences is not enough to check the whole possibilities of unexpected accidents in the built environment. It means that the dwellers might be always exposed by the dangerous situation which should have been removed in the architectural design process. In order to solve this problem, this study intends to introduce a rule-based performance evaluation technology based on BIM(Building Information Modeling). The proposed technology focuses on the real time evaluation of dweller's safety in the ordinary life in the designed building alternatives and uses a commercial BIM tool as a design and evaluation platform.

  • The present study has been conducted to simulate dynamics of a gas engine-driven heat pump(GHP) for design of control algorithm. The dynamic modeling of a GHP was based on conservation laws of mass and energy. For automatic control of refrigerant pressures, actuators such as engine speed, outdoor fan, coolant three-way valves and liquid injection valve were PI or P controlled. The simulation results showed physical behavior that is realistic enough to apply for control algorithm design.

The model can be applied to build a virtual real-time GHP system so that it interfaces with a real controller in purpose of prototyping control algorithm.

  • In case that the perfect model following conditions are not satisfied in the system, a perfect model-following controller is difficult to apply to the system. To deal with this problem, in this paper, a robust imperfect stable model-following controller is designed by combining time delay controller and sliding mode controller based on the concept of two degrees of freedom(2-DOF) controller design method. The experimental dynamic modeling of the commercial overhead crane with capacity of two tons is carried out. To remove the noise of the measuring signals from the swing angle measurement device and estimate the state of the swing angles of the transported object at each time instant, realtime tracker is designed using Kalman filter. The performance of the designed robust controller is tested through the commercial overhead. The experimental results show that the designed controller is robust and applicable to real systems.

  • This study presents a method for realtime fuel consumption prediction using real data collected from OBDII. With the advent of the era of self-driving cars, electronic control units(ECU) are getting more complex, and various studies are being attempted to extract and analyze more accurate data from vehicles. But since ECU is getting more complex, it is getting harder to get the data from ECU. To solve this problem, the firmware was developed for acquiring accurate vehicle data in this study, which extracted 53,580 actual driving data sets from vehicles from January to February 2019. Using these data, the ensemble stacking technique was used to increase the accuracy of the realtime fuel consumption prediction model. In this study, Ridge, Lasso, XGBoost, and LightGBM were used as base models, and Ridge was used for meta model, and the predicted performance was MAE 0.011, RMSE 0.017.

Manipulation of 3D Surface Data within Web-based 3D Geo-Processing

  • An efficient modeling and management of a large amount of surface data for a wide rage of geographic information play an important role in determining the functionality of 3D geographic information system. It has been put many efforts to design and manage an effective way to enhence the manipulation of the data by considering geometry type and data structures. Recently, DEM(Data Elevation Model) and TIN(Triangulated Irregular Network) are used for representing surface data. In this paper, we propose a 3D data processing method. The method utilizes the major properties of DEM and TIN, respectively. Furthermore, by approximating DEM with a TIN of an appropriate resolution, we can support a fast and realistic surface modeling. We implement the structure with the following 4 level stages. The first is an optimal resolution of DEM which represent all of wide range of geographic data. The second is the full resolution DEM which is a subarea of original data generated by user's selection in our implemeatation. The third is the TIN approximation of this data with a proper resolution determined by the relative position with the camera. And the last step is multi-resolution TIN data whose resolution is dynamically decided by considering which direction user take notice currently. Specially, the TIN of the last step is designed for realtime camera navigation. By using the structure we implemented realtime surface clipping, efficient approximation of height field and the locally detailed surface LOD(Level of Detail). We used the initial 10-meter sampling DEM data of Seoul, KOREA and implement the structure to the 3D Virtual GIS based on the Internet.
