A Study on the Realization of Virtual Simulation Face Based on Artificial Intelligence

  • In recent years, as computer-generated imagery has been applied to more industries, realistic facial animation is one of the important research topics. The current solution for realistic facial animation is to create realistic rendered 3D characters, but the 3D characters created by traditional methods are always different from the actual characters and require high cost in terms of staff and time. Deepfake technology can achieve the effect of realistic faces and replicate facial animation. The facial details and animations are automatically done by the computer after the AI model is trained, and the AI model can be reused, thus reducing the human and time costs of realistic face animation. In addition, this study summarizes the way human face information is captured and proposes a new workflow for video to image conversion and demonstrates that the new work scheme can obtain higher quality images and exchange effects by evaluating the quality of No Reference Image Quality Assessment.

Relationships of sensibility image of mannequin and apparel shop

  • This study is to explore the relationships between sensibility images of mannequins and apparel shops. A total of 113 consumers participated in experiments with photo stimuli of 2 mannequin types (realistic and semi-abstract mannequins) and 4 brand shops of women's casual wear. In results, luxurious, chic, strong, sexy, and young images were more strongly perceived from realistic mannequins than semi-abstract mannequins whereas simple and soft images were more strongly perceived from semi-abstract mannequins than realistic mannequins. Shops using realistic mannequins indicated strong images whereas shops using semi-abstract mannequins presented soft, comfortable, and feminine images. In the correlation analysis, luxurious, chic, strong, and young images of realistic mannequins were consistent with shop images using realistic mannequins. Also, luxurious, chic, soft, comfortable, and feminine images of semi-abstract mannequins were consistent with shop images using semi-abstract mannequins. In order to clearly communicate brand concepts with consumers, mannequin that is a key element of visual merchandising in the apparel shop, should be carefully selected, considering the accordance with shop image.

디지털시네마와 디지털애니메이션을 위한 CGI 시각형식 구조화 -영화<정글북>을 중심으로- (Structuralization of CGI Visual Format for Digital Cinema and Digital Animation -Focused on Film -)

  • CGI는 영화와 애니메이션이 디지털시네마와 디지털애니메이션으로 진화하는데 결정적 역할을 했을 뿐만 아니라 대중 상업 영화와 애니메이션 안에 리얼리즘 시각중심의 스펙터클의 영상문화를 정착시킨 중요한 시각형식이다. 영상문화를 설명하는 도상성, 포토리얼리즘, 핍진성, 언캐니밸리, 하이퍼리얼리즘, 스펙터클 사실주의 담론 연구를 통해 CGI 시각형식이 세 가지 관점에서 구조화될 수 있음을 발견하였다. 첫째는 그림과 사진의 도상적 차이에서 생기는 조형적 관점이고, 둘째는 시각적으로 인지되는 자연스러움과 이상함을 사실적 개연성의 문제로 보는 인식적 관점이다. 마지막으로 영화와 애니메이션의 미학적 전통에 뿌리를 둔 관습적 관점이다. 그리고 이렇게 구조화된 시각형식의 틀로 영화 '정글북'(2016)에 사용된 CGI의 특징을 분석하였다. 결과 이 영화는 사실적인 개연성의 바탕 위에 극사실적 포토리얼의 사진적도상성을 가지고 있다. 그리고 과장 및 증폭된 시각적 내러티브를 주된 시각형식으로 하는 영화의 영상미학적 관습을 따르면서 동시에 동물캐릭터의 의인화로 인해 애니메이션 영상미학의 관습도 충분히 가지고 있음을 알 수 있었다.

  • Research on the visual narrative impact of Unreal Engine's Lumen lighting system in games aims to delve into how Lumen's lighting technology plays a crucial role in game design and gameplay experience, thereby enhancing the visual storytelling of games. Lumen, Unreal Engine's dynamic global illumination solution, calculates lighting and shadows in real-time during gameplay, creating a more realistic and immersive environment. Analysis indicates that Lumen technology not only provides visually realistic and dynamic lighting effects but also significantly enriches the expressiveness and immersion of the game narrative through its changes in light and shadow.

  • 온라인 게임이든 스탠드 얼론 게임이든 궁극적으로 시각 효과에 대한 사실적 표현의 정도를 높이기 위한 연구는 결코 멈추지 않을 것이다. 최근 현실적으로 표현된 캐릭터가 게임 속에 자주 등장하고 있다. 특히 가상현실 기술의 발달로 인해 시뮬레이션 기반의 현실적인 이미지를 갖춘 RPG 게임이 선풍적인 인기를 끌고 있다. 플레이어는 게임에서 게임의 이야기를 경험하고 각 레벨별 난이도를 경험 할 수 있다. 다른 플레이어, 팀원, 또는 적 캐릭터들이 현실적인 캐릭터로 등장하며 게임의 에피소드가 확장되면서 더 많은 플레이를 할 수 있도록 사실적인 게임 캐릭터의 중요성이 높아지고 있다. 고전적인 영화 캐릭터를 기반으로 현실적인 게임 캐릭터를 게임에 추가하면 플레이어가보다 사실적이고 흥미로운 시각 경험을 얻을 수 있다. 본 연구는 사실적인 캐릭터 스타일이 게임의 재미와 시각효과에 어떠한 영항을 미칠지에 대한 탐색적 연구를 하고자 한다.

고속 검사자동화를 위한 에지기반 점 상관 알고리즘의 개발 (Development of an edge-based point correlation algorithm for fast and stable visual inspection system)

  • We presents an edge-based point correlation algorithm for fast and stable visual inspection system. Conventional algorithms based on NGC(normalized gray-level correlation) have to overcome some difficulties in applying automated inspection systems to real factory environment. First of all, NGC algorithms involve highly complex computation and thus require high performance hardware for realtime process. In addition, lighting condition in realistic factory environments is not stable and therefore intensity variation from uncontrolled lights gives many troubles for applying NGC directly as pattern matching algorithm. We propose an algorithm to solve these problems, using thinned and binarized edge data, which are obtained from the original image. A point correlation algorithm with the thinned edges is introduced with image pyramid technique to reduce the computational complexity. Matching edges instead of using original gray-level image pixels overcomes problems in NGC method and pyramid of edges also provides fast and stable processing. All proposed methods are proved by the experiments using real images.

자동차 시뮬레이터의 가상환경 구성에 대한 연구 (Construction of Virtual Environment for a Vehicle Simulator)

  • Vehicle driving simulators can provide engineers with benefits on the development and modification of vehicle models. One of the most important factors to realistic simulations is the fidelity given by a motion system and a real-time visual image generation system. Virtual reality technology has been widely used to achieve high fidelity. In this paper the virtual environment including a visual system like a head-mounted display is developed for a vehicle driving simulator system by employing the virtual reality technique. virtual vehicle and environment models are constructed using the object-oriented analysis and design approach. Accordint to the object model a three dimensional graphic model is developed with CAD tools such as Rhino and Pro/E. For the real-time image generation the optimized IRIS Performer 3D graphics library is embedded with the multi-thread methodology. Compared with the single loop apprach the proposed methodology yields an acceptable image generation speed 20 frames/sec for the simulator.

  • Lightscape is a visual rendering software enabling higher dimensional 3D image production using rendering as well. However, direct light simulation showed that more realistic feature of material-specific texture or color could be achieved by adjusting options. Accordingly, this study is to generate optimal values of options and achieve more realistic images by varying such values according to individual materials in order to create better quality simulation images using Lightscape.

가상 아바타의 홍채색과 동공 조절에 따른 시각적 실재감에 대한 실감표현요소 (Realistic Expression Factors According to Visual Presence in Terms of Iris color and Pupil Accommodation of Virtual Avatar)

  • 가상환경에서 가상 아바타는 말과 감정을 전달하는 주요한 의사소통 수단이다. 본 연구에서는 가상 아바타의 홍채색과 동공 조절 요소를 기반으로 사용자의 시각적 실재감에 대한 반응을 평가하고자 한다. 이를 위해 홍채색과 동공 조절 요소를 적용한 가상 아바타를 모델링하였다. 32명의 피실험자를 대상으로 상기 이미지를 제시한 후, 선행연구를 기반으로 설문문항(18문항)을 구성하여 5점 척도로 보고하게 하였다. 실험결과, 동공 크기변화가 적용된 경우 높은 실감을 느끼는 것으로 나타났으며, 홍채색은 실재감에 영향을 주지 않는 것으로 나타났다. 이 결과는 새로운 시각적 실감 표현요소를 제안하고, 제안된 실감 표현요소의 타당성을 검증함으로써 실재감 있는 가상 아바타를 설계하기 위한 기초 연구로써 활용 가능할 것으로 사료된다.

Runway visual range prediction using Convolutional Neural Network with Weather information

  • The runway visual range is one of the important factors that decide the possibility of taking offs and landings of the airplane at local airports. The runway visual range is affected by weather conditions like fog, wind, etc. The pilots and aviation related workers check a local weather forecast such as runway visual range for safe flight. However there are several local airfields at which no other forecasting functions are provided due to realistic problems like the deterioration, breakdown, expensive purchasing cost of the measurement equipment. To this end, this study proposes a prediction model of runway visual range for a local airport by applying convolutional neural network that has been most commonly used for image/video recognition, image classification, natural language processing and so on to the prediction of runway visual range. For constituting the prediction model, we use the previous time series data of wind speed, humidity, temperature and runway visibility. This paper shows the usefulness of the proposed prediction model of runway visual range by comparing with the measured data.
