안드로이드에 실시간 성능 제공을 위한 태스크 관리 및 가비지컬렉션 실행 제어 방법 (Task Management and Garbage Collection Execution Control Method for Providing Real-time Performance to Android)

  • 실시간으로 데이터를 획득하고 평가하는 것이 중요한 군용 점검 장비와 같은 시스템에서는 운영체제 레벨에서 실시간 처리가 가능해야 한다. 기술의 발전으로 기존 장비를 휴대용 단말로 대체하려는 요구가 있으나, 안드로이드가 적용된 휴대용 단말은 실시간성이 요구되는 시스템에 적합하지 않다. 안드로이드에서는 가비지 컬렉션을 통해 가용 메모리를 확보하는데, 이 작업이 수행되는 동안 다른 태스크가 중단되어 특정 태스크의 주기성을 보장할 수 없다. 본 논문에서는 이를 해결하기 위해 안드로이드의 가비지 컬렉션 실행을 제어하는 구조를 설계 및 구현하였다. 실시간 작업이 필요한 시간 동안 가비지 컬렉션을 제어하여 실시간 성능을 보장하며, 안드로이드에 실시간 성능 보장을 위한 RTiK을 적용하였다. 성능 평가를 위해 5ms 주기 태스크의 호출 주기를 측정하였으며, 제어 이전에는 태스크의 34.31%만 주기가 보장되었으나, 제어를 통해 98.18%의 태스크 주기가 만족되어 안드로이드에 실시간성을 제공하였다.

고신뢰 실시간 시스템을 위한 체크포인팅 프레임워크 (A Checkpointing Framework for Dependable Real-Time Systems)

  • 본 논문은 고신뢰 실시간 시스템에 체크포인팅을 적용할 수 있도록 실시간성과 신뢰성을 모두 고려하는 체크포인팅 프레임워크를 제공한다. 실시간 태스크의 시간 예측성은 할당된 체크포인트의 수와 태스크가 실행 중에 감내 해야하는 고장의 수를 기반으로 태스크의 최악 실행 시간(WCET: Worst Case Execution Time)을 산출함으로써 보장된다. 태스크가 실행 중에 극복해야하는 고장의 수는 태스크의 신뢰성 요구조건을 기반으로 산출됨으로써 태스크의 신뢰성이 보장되도록 한다. 이렇게 얻어진 태스크들의 WCET와 태스크가 극복해야 하는 고장의 수를 이용하여, 각 태스크의 스케줄 가능성을 보장하기 위해 요구되는 최소의 체크포인트 수를 유도하는 알고리즘을 제안한다. 본 논문에서 제안하는 프레임워크는 체크포인팅의 시간 중복량을 기반으로 하므로, 다른 시간 중복 기법에 대해서도 확장이 용이하다.

  • The most important things in real-time systems are that a system guarantees to meet its deadline and to operate in its predictable range. When we design a real-time system, we need to verify whether the system can meet its deadline through schedulability analysis. There are several kinds of schedulability analysis technique for fixed priority scheduling systems. But as we all know, we can't perform schedulability analysis in design time because we can't estimate upper bounds on execution time of each task. So we used a similar real-time system to estimate upper bounds on execution time for our system, and then we performed schedulability analysis and verified that our system designed can meet its deadline.

Multicore-Aware Code Co-Positioning to Reduce WCET on Dual-Core Processors with Shared Instruction Caches

  • For real-time systems it is important to obtain the accurate worst-case execution time (WCET). Furthermore, how to improve the WCET of applications that run on multicore processors is both significant and challenging as the WCET can be largely affected by the possible inter-core interferences in shared resources such as the shared L2 cache. In order to solve this problem, we propose an innovative approach that adopts a code positioning method to reduce the inter-core L2 cache interferences between the different real-time threads that adaptively run in a multi-core processor by using different strategies. The worst-case-oriented strategy is designed to decrease the worst-case WCET among these threads to as low as possible. The other two strategies aim at reducing the WCET of each thread to almost equal percentage or amount. Our experiments indicate that the proposed multicore-aware code positioning approaches, not only improve the worst-case performance of the real-time threads but also make good tradeoffs between efficiency and fairness for threads that run on multicore platforms.

  • A manufacturing execution system in the process according to automation system of installation management has been growing interest about effective system design and effective system manage. In this paper, we propose an ubiquitous Manufacturing Execution System based on RFID/USN for checkup monitoring and history management of installation in manufacturing execution systems. For this, we design and implement installation history and statistics management system based on RFID grafting RFID for efficient installation equipment history and statistics management of ubiquitous Manufacturing Execution System, and was implemented checkup monitoring system based on USN using temperature sensor, humidity sensor, hydraulic pressure sensor for failure prevention of ubiquitous Manufacturing Execution System. And proposed ubiquitous Manufacturing Execution System is implemented based on JSP for access through Web in real time.

  • This paper presents a complete survey of recent techniques that are applied in the field of real-time Java computing. It focuses on the issues that are especially important for hard real-time applications, which include time predictable garbage collection, worst-case execution time analysis of Java programs, real-time Java threads scheduling and compiler techniques designed for real-time purpose. It also evaluates experimental frameworks that can be used for researching real-time Java. This overview is expected to help researchers understand the state-of-the-art and advance the research in real-time Java computing.

  • In this paper, the problems of the conventional special-purpose array processor such as the deficiency of flexibility have been investigated. Then, a new modified methodology has been suggested and applied to obtain the common solution of the three typical App algorithms like SP(Shortest Path), TC(Transitive Closure), and MST(Minimun Spanning Tree) among the various APP algorithms using the similar method to obtain the solution. In the newly proposed APP parallel algorithm, real-time Processing is possible, without the structure enhancement and the functional restriction. In addition, we design 2-demensional bit-parallel low-triangular systolic array processor and the 1-PE in detail. For its evaluation, we consider its computational complexity according to bit-processing method and describe relationship of total chip size and execution time. Therefore, the proposed processor obtains, on which a large data inputs in real-time, 3n-4 execution time which is optimal o(n) time complexity, o(n$^{2}$) space complexity which is the number of total gate and pipeline period rate is one.

  • 본 논문에서는 실시간 객체 모델인 TMO(Time-triggered Message-triggered Object)에 기반을 둔 실시간 객체지향 프로그램의 시간 제약이 제대로 만족되는가를 시스템 수행 중에 감시하기 위한 모니터의 효과적인 구현 방안에 대하여 논한다. 구현 환경으로 윈도우 OS상의 TMO 프로그램 실행 환경인 WTMOS(Windows TMO System)를 이용하였고, 감시 주체가 되는 수행 시간 모니터의 성능 분석을 위하여 온도 제어를 위한 응용 시스템이 구축되었다. 모니터 대상과 모니터 조건을 TMO 프로그램내에 명시하는 방법과 정의된 모니터의 기능을 WTMOS 내부와 TMO 형태의 응용 객체로 분산시켜서 적은 비용으로 시스템을 구축하는 방법을 제시한다.

  • High performance digital computer technology enables the digital computer-based controllers to replace traditional analog controllers used for factory automations. This replacement, however, brings up the side effects caused by discrete quantization and non-real-time execution of control softwares. This paper describes the structure of real-time simulator and controller that can be used for design and verification of real-time digital controllers. The virtual machine concept adopted by real-time simulator make the proposed simulator be independent from the specific hardware platforms. The proposed system can also be used in the loosely coupled distributed environments connected through local area network using real-time message passing algorithm and virtual data table based on the shared memory mechanism.
