In this paper, a cochlea-inspired artificial filter bank(CAFB) was developed in order to efficiently acquire dynamic response of structure, and it was also evaluated via dynamic response experiments. To sort out signals containing significant modal information from all the dynamic responses of structure, it was made to adopt a band-pass filter optimizing algorithm(BOA) and a peak-picking algorithm (PPA). Optimally designed on the basis of El-centro and Kobe earthquake signals, it was then embedded into the wireless multi-measurement system(WiMMS). In order to evaluate the performance of the developed CAFB, a vibration test was conducted using the El-centro and Kobe earthquake signals, and structural responses of a two-span bridge were obtained and analyzed simultaneously by both a wired measurement system and a CAFB-based WiMMS. The test results showed that the compressed dynamic responses acquired by the CAFB-based WiMMS matched with those of the wired system, and they included significant modal information of the two-span bridge. Therefore this study showed that the developed CAFB could be used as a new, economic, and efficient measurement device for wireless sensor networks(WSNs) based real time structural health monitoring because it could reconstruct the whole dynamic response using the compressed dynamic response with significant modal information.

The emerging of ubiquitous computing and healthcare technologies provides us a strong platform to build sustainable healthcare applications especially those that require real-time information related to personal healthcare regardless of place. We realize that system stability, reliability and data protection are also important requirements for u-healthcare services. Therefore, in this paper, we designed a u-healthcare system which can be attached to the patient's body to measure vital signals, enhanced with USN secure sensor module. Our proposed u-healthcare system is using wireless sensor modules embedded with NLM-128 algorithm. In addition, PS-LFSR technique is applied to the NLM-128 algorithm to enable faster and more efficient computation. We included some performance statistical results in term of CPU cycles spent on NLM-128 algorithm with and without the PS-LFSR optimization for performance evaluation.

Incorrectly loaded containers can easily knock down by strong winds. Container collapse accidents can lead to material damage and paralysis of the port system. In this paper, We propose a deep learning-based container loading state and accident risk detection technique. Using Darknet-based YOLO, the container load status identifies in real-time through corner casting on the top and bottom of the container, and the risk of accidents notifies the manager. We present criteria for classifying container alignment states and select efficient learning algorithms based on inference speed, classification accuracy, detection accuracy, and FPS in real embedded devices in the same environment. The study found that YOLOv4 had a weaker inference speed and performance of FPS than YOLOv3, but showed strong performance in classification accuracy and detection accuracy.
Recently, several research studies on things abstraction framework have been proposed in order to implement the multi-service Internet of Things (IoT) system, where various IoT services share the thing devices. Distributed things abstraction has an IoT service duplication problem, which aggravates power consumption of mobile devices and network traffic. On the other hand, cloud server-centric things abstraction cannot cover real-time interactions due to long network delay. Fog server-centric things abstraction has limits in insufficient IoT interfaces. In this paper, we propose Smart Fog which is a fog server-centric things abstraction framework to resolve the problems of the existing things abstraction frameworks. Smart Fog consists of software modules to operate the Smart Gateway and three interfaces. Smart Fog is implemented based on IoTivity framework and OIC standard. We construct a smart home prototype on an embedded board Odroid-XU3 using Smart Fog. We evaluate the network performance and energy efficiency of Smart Fog. The experimental results indicate that the Smart Fog shows short network latency, which can perform real-time interaction. The results also show that the proposed framework has reduction in the network traffic of 74% and power consumption of 21% in mobile device, compared to distributed things abstraction.

Due to the rapid development of IoT(Internet of Things) technology, traditional taxis are connected through dispatchers and location systems. Typically, modern taxis have embedded with GPS(Global Positioning System), which aims for obtaining the route information. By analyzing the frequency of taxi trip events, we can find the frequent route for a given query time. However, a scalability problem would occur when we convert the raw location data of taxi trip events into the analyzed frequency information due to the volume of location data. For this problem, we propose a NoSQL based top-K query system for taxi trip events. First, we analyze raw taxi trip events and extract frequencies of all routes. Then, we store the frequency information into hash-based index structure of MongoDB which is a document-oriented NoSQL database. Efficient top-K query processing for frequent route is done with the top of the MongoDB. We validate the efficiency of our algorithms by using real taxi trip events of New York City.
The proposed system in this paper uses a camera attached to a mobile device in order to inquire a car and track its location anywhere. To do this, the system recognizes and verifies license plates on the front and back of a cu. The plates are scanned by the camera attached to a mobile device. The technology enables us to detect a car registration number and to transmit the number along with the location of the device to a server through a wireless communication network. The information of a car obtained through the terminal is encoded and transmitted to a server in a remote place through a wireless communication network also. The car registration number and its location information are decoded and transmitted as a text to the server in a remote place. In order to track a user´s location through spatial relative distance estimated in real-time, the server uses the spatial and attribute information which are the most prior to the desired data value. With this property information, the right location can be calculated.

A common characteristic of many patients whose illness is getting worse is that they miss the treatment red flag. When high subjective symptoms appear or there is no strong pain, this problem arises because it is reluctant to visit the hospital. Gingivitis causes bleeding from the gums in the early and mid-term, and shows mild symptoms of tooth collapse. When treatment is done at this point, it shows a very high effect. However, when you miss the timing of treatment you will have a situation where you can't eat food by causing serious problems in the health of the gums and oral cavity. In this paper, the patient's periodontal image is photographed with a smartphone and transmitted in real time. This is done by the doctor in charge. Then, we propose a design of a patient management system that provides information on the current situation to the patient so as not to miss the timing of treatment.
There is much interest on information communications owing to the rapid development of network and IT(Information Technology). Analog signals are converted into digital signals for information communications. However, it is very difficult to completely erase the distortion induced during the conversion of analog signals such as voices and images into digital signals. Existing audio graphic equalizer requires very complex processes to calculate the gain and coefficients of the higher-order filter which is required to generate natural sound and to satisfy the need of each person. Unfortunately it is uneconomical and very difficult to embed the existing digital audio equalizer in the system because of the complexity of the existing digital audio equalizer for high quality sound. This paper discusses the design of a new digital audio graphic equalizer(DAGEQ) which can improve system performance and the quality of audio sound, and can be embedded in the system. This new DAGEQ is designed so that the gain can be controlled automatically. The automatic control of coefficients and gain empowers real time processing and the improvement of audio quality.

As studies on ubiquitous computing are actively conducted, desire for various services, including image transmission storage, search and remote monitoring. has been expanding into mobile environment as well as to PCs. while CCTV (closed circuit TV) and un DVR (Digital video Recording) are used in places where security service such as intrusion detection system is required, these are high-end equipment. So it is not easy for ordinary users or household and small-sized companies to use them. Besides, they are difficult to be carried and camera solution for mobile device does not support high-quality function and provides low-definition of QVGA for picture quality. Therefore, in this study, design and implementation of embedded system of high-definition image transmission for ubiquitous mobile device which is not inferior to PC or DVR are described. To this end, usage of dedicated CPU for mobile device and design and implementation of MPEG-4 H/W CODEC also are examined. The implemented system showed excellent performance in mobile environment, in terms of speed, picture quality.
