  • Ideas providing an optimal car route using current traffic condition, maintaining the current location and the history of driven route of a car in the main central office, in where GPS signals transmitted from the driving cars are received, have been proposed. Since GPS signals occurred in certain time interval instead of all GPS signals are transmitted from the car due to the cost of transmission, an algorithm that is able to recover the missing GPS signals is required. In this paper, an efficient algorithm, which finds the driven route and the current location of a car fast, is proposed. To verify the efficiency of the proposed algorithm, it is applied to the various real GIS map and it turns out to be very effective.

  • The CAN (Controller Area Network) system is the most dominant protocol for in-vehicle networking system because it provides bounded transmission delay among ECUs (Electronic Control Units) at data rates between 125Kbps and 1Mbps. And, many automotive companies have chosen the CAN protocol for their in-vehicle networking system such as chassis network system because of its excellent communication characteristics. However, the increasing number of ECUs and the need for more intelligent functions such as ADASs (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) or IVISs (In-Vehicle Information Systems) require a network with more network capacity and the real-time QoS (Quality-of-Service). As one approach to enhancing the network capacity of a CAN system, this paper introduces a CAN system with dual communication channel. And, this paper presents a distributed message allocation method that allocates messages to the more appropriate channel using forecast traffic of each channel. Finally, an experimental testbed using commercial off-the-shelf microcontrollers with two CAN protocol controllers was used to demonstrate the feasibility of the CAN system with dual communication channel using the distributed message allocation method.

  • The hybrid electric powertrain is a robust solution that allows for major improvements in both fuel economy and emission reduction. In the present study, a through-the-road hybrid vehicle model with an electric motor driving the rear axle and an Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) driving the front axle has been constructed. We then present a systematic method for the determination of a real time applicable optimal Energy Management Strategy (EMS) for a hybrid road vehicle. More precisely, we compare the performance of rule-based EMS strategies to an optimization-based strategy, namely ECMS (Equivalent Consumption Minimization Strategy). The comparison is conducted in parallel with a parameterization of the size of the internal combustion engine and the implementation of a Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) that allows following the line of best fuel economy. For the FTP-75 driving cycle, the constrained engine On-off control algorithm is shown to offer a 28% improvement potential of fuel consumption compared to the conventional internal combustion engine while the ECMS strategy achieves an improved potential of nearly 33%.

  • The Guaranteed Frame Rate(GFR) service has been designed to accomodate non-real-time applications, such as TCP/IP based traffic in ATM networks. The GFR service not only guarantees a minimum throughput at the frame level, but also supports a fair share of available resources. In this paper, we propose a cell scheduling scheme which can improve the fairness and the goodput through the traffic control in GFR service. For the evaluation of the proposed scheme, we compare the proposed scheme with the existing scheme in the fairness and the goodput. Simulation results show that proposed scheme can improve the fairness and goodput comparing with the existing buffer management scheme.

  • This paper proposed an realtime total monitoring platform for various kind of multi weather radars to analyze and predict weather phenomenons and prevent meteorological disasters. Our platform is designed to process each weather radar data on each radar site to minimize overloads from conversion and transmission of large volumed radar data, and to set observers up the definitive radar data via public framework server separately. By proposed method, weather radar data having different spatial or temporal resolutions can be automatically synchronized with there own spatio-temporal domains on public GIS platform having only one spatio-temporal criterion. Simulation result shows that our method facilitates the realtime weather monitoring from weather radars having various spatio-temporal resolutions without other data synchronization or assimilation processes. Moreover, since this platform doesn't require some additional computer equipments or high-technical mechanisms it has economic efficiency for it's systemic constructions.

  • Video Compression is the key technology for the transmission of multi-media data. Because the Motion Estimation is the most complex module in the video compression, fast motion estimation algorithm is essential for the real-time application. In this paper, we propose an enhanced binary motion estimation algorithm based on the wavelet transform. Proposed algorithm improve the quality of coded video.

  • Si nanowires have exhibited unique optical characteristics, including nano-antenna effects due to the guided mode resonance, significant optical absorption enhancement in wide wavelength and incident angle range due to resonant optical modes, graded refractive index, and scattering. Since Si poor optical absorption coefficient due to indirect bandgap, all such properties have stimulated proposal of new optoelectronic devices whose performance can surpass that of conventional planar devices. We have carried out finite-difference time-domain simulation studies to design optimal Si nanowire array for solar cell applications. Optical reflectance, transmission, and absorption can be calculated for nanowire arrays with various diameter, length, and period. From the absorption, maximum achievable photocurrent can be estimated. In real devices, serious recombination loss occurring at the surface states is known to limit the photovoltaic performance of the nanowire-based solar cells. In order to address such issue, we will discuss how the geometric parameters of the array can influence the spatial distribution of the optical field (resulting optical generation rate) in the nanowires.

The functions of the central system include receiving station's data gathering and decoding, carrier correction and integrity information generated, transmission of data in real-time. In general, The central station architecture should take into account various important points relating to hardware/software of system, data archiving and checking, availability and continuity of operation, etc. There is a fundamental need for a generic design capable of being used in any situation. Also, There is need to develop an expandable and interoperable central station architecture. In this paper, the process of design and manufacture and verification will be introduced.

  • As mobile devices have developed, flash animations suitable for the existing web have solved part of the weakness caused by the image quality deterioration and the transmission capacity, but it is difficult to express 3D stereo-scopic images. Also, for the real time-randering of visual expressions for animation and the device technique for smartphone to accord with commercial demands, it is required to develop the 3D image processing technique. This paper studied on the image processing method for 3D animation capable of 3D graphic rendering with view system of android and OpenGL M3G in an embedded system device and OpenGL ES 2.0 library.
