Real-time Geometric Correction System for Digital Image Projection onto Deformable Surface (변형 가능한 곡면에서의 디지털 영상 투영을 위한 실시간 기하 보정 시스템)

  • This paper proposes a real-time geometric correction system based on a projector to project digital images onto deformable surface. Markers use to trace lots of corresponding points would spoil the projected image when the projector projects a digital image onto the surface because they leave marks on the surface. In addition, it is difficult to build a real-time geometric correction system since bottlenecks occur through the process of the geometric correction for projecting images. In this paper, we use invisible infrared markers and a vertex shader of GPU using Cg TookKit of NVIDIA in order to eliminate disadvantage and bottlenecks in the process of markers recognition so that it is possible to project natural correction images in real-time. As a result, this system overlays an interactive virtual texture onto the real paper by using the geometric transformation. Therefore, it is possible to develop variation of AR(Augmented Reality) based on digital contents systems.

Development of Calibration and Real-Time Compensation System for Total Measuring Accuracy in a Commercial CMM (상용 3차원 측정기의 전체 측정정밀도 교정 및 실시간 보정시스템)

  • This paper presents techniques for evaluation and compensation of total measuring errors in a commercial CMM. The probe errors as well as the machine geometric errors are assessed from probing of the mechanical artefacts such as shpere, step, and rings. For the error compensation, the integrated volumetric error equations are considered, including the probe error adn the machine geometric error. The error compensation is performed on the absolute scale coordinate system, in order to overcome the redundant degree of freedom in the CMM with multi-axis probe. A interface box and corresponding software driver are developed for data intercepting/correction between the machine controller and machine, thus the volumetric errors can be compensated in real time with minimum interference to the operating software and hardware of a commercial CMM. The developed system applied to a practical CMM installed on the shop floor, and demonstrated its performance.

Improvement of GOCI-II Ground System for Monitoring of Level-1 Data Quality (천리안 해양위성 2호 Level-1 영상의 품질관리를 위한 지상국 시스템 개선)

  • The data from Geostationary Ocean Color Imager-II (GOCI-II), which observes the color of the sea to monitor marine environments, undergoes various correction processes in the ground station system, producing data from Raw to Level-2 (L2). Quality issues arising at each processing stage accumulate step by step, leading to an amplification of errors in the satellite data. To address this, improvements were made to the GOCI-II ground station system to measure potential optical quality and geolocation accuracy errors in the Level-1A/B (L1A/B) data. A newly established Radiometric and Geometric Performance Assessment Module (RGPAM) now measures five optical quality factors and four geolocation accuracy factors in near real-time. Testing with GOCI-II data has shown that RGPAM's functions, including data processing, display and download of measurement results, work well. The performance metrics obtained through RGPAM are expected to serve as foundational data for real-time radiometric correction model enhancements, assessment of L1 data quality consistency, and the development of reprocessing strategies to address identified issues related to the GOCI-II detector's sensitivity degradation.

  • It's a very meaningful experimental study to image restoration of ancient villages vanished at the real life spatial world. Focused on Cheung-Pyung Lake around where most part were flooded by the Chung-Ju large dam founded in early 1980s, we used remote sensing technique in this study in order to restore topographical features before the flood with 3 dimensional effects. It was gathered comparatively good satellite photos and remotely sensed digital images, then its made a new color image from these and the topographical map which had been made before filled water. This task was putting together two kinds of different timed images. And then, we generated DEM(digital elevation model) including the outskirts of that area as harmonizing current contour lines with the map. That could be a perfect 3D image of Cheung-Pyung around before when it had been flood by making perspective images from all directions, north, south, east and west, for showing there in three dimensions. Also, flying simulation we made for close visiting can bring us to experience their real space at that time.

A Measurement Error Correction Algorithm of Road Image for Traveling Vehicle's Fluctuation Using V.F. Modeling (V.F. 모델링을 이용한 주행차량의 진동에 대한 도로영상의 계측오차 보정 알고리듬)

  • In this paper, the image modelling of road's lane markings is established using view frustum(VF) model. From this model, a measurement system of lane markings and obstacles is proposed. The system also involve the real time processing of the 3D position coordinate and the distance data from the camera to the points on the 3D world coordinate by virtue of the camera calibration. In order to reduce their measurement error, an useful algorithm for which analyze the geometric variations due to traveling vehicle's fluctuation using VF model is proposed. In experiments, without correction, for instance, the $0.4^{\circ}$ of pitching rotation gives the error of $0.4{\sim}0.6m$ at the distance of 10m, but the more far distance cause exponentially the more error. We con finned that this algorithm can be reduced less than 0.1m of error at the same condition.

  • This paper presents a rotational motion estimation and correction technique for digital image stabilization. An equivalent rotation model is derived so as to accommodate a combined rotational and the translational motion. Thanks to this simplification, the suggested estimation algorithm can directly find the rotational center using geometric characteristic of local motion vectors instead of using searching method. And we also present recursive version of frame to reference algorithm(FRA) for the real time implementation. The proposed DIS system does not require time consuming parameter searching process, while showing comparatively good performance compared with the previous ones. To show the effectiveness of the DIS scheme, the algorithm has been implemented on the DSP based hardware system and experimental results are also discussed.

  • An image reconstruction algorithm is proposed to estimate transmitted original images from images displayed on a video terminal. The proposed algorithm acquires images that are displayed on video terminal screens by using a camera. The transmitted images are then estimated with the acquired images. However, camera-acquired images exhibit geometric and color distortions caused by characteristics of the camera and display devices. We make use of a geometric distortion correction algorithm that exploits homography and color distortions using a weighted-linear model. The experimental results show that the proposed algorithm yields promising estimation performance with respect to the peak signal-to-noise ratio (PSNR). PSNR values of the estimated images with respect to the corresponding original images range from 28-29 dB.

  • The information about the deformations of high-aspect-ratio wings is needed for the real-time monitoring of structural responses. Wing deformation in flight can be predicted by using relationship between the curvatures and the strains on the wing skin. It is also necessary to consider geometric nonlinearity when the large deformation of wing is occurred. The strain distribution on fixed-end is complex in the chordwise direction because of the geometric shape of fixed-wings on fuselages. Hence, the wing displacement can be diversely predicted by the location of the strain sensing lines in the chordwise direction. We conducted a study about prediction method of displacements regardless of the chordwise strain sensing locations. To correct spanwise strains, the ratio of spanwise strain to chordwise strain, Poisson's ratio, and the ratio of the plate strain to the beam strain were used. The predicted displacements using the strain correction were consistent with those calculated by the FEA and verified through the bending testing.

Federated Filter Approach for GNSS Network Processing

  • A large number of service providers in countries all over the world have established GNSS reference station networks in the last years and are using network software today to provide a correction stream to the user as a routine service. In current GNSS network processing, all the geometric related information such as ionospheric free carrier phase ambiguities from all stations and satellites, tropospheric effects, orbit errors, receiver and satellite clock errors are estimated in one centralized Kalman filter. Although this approach provides an optimal solution to the estimation problem, however, the processing time increases cubically with the number of reference stations in the network. Until now one single Personal Computer with Pentium 3.06 GHz CPU can only process data from a network consisting of no more than 50 stations in real time. In order to process data for larger networks in real time and to lower the computational load, a federated filter approach can be considered. The main benefit of this approach is that each local filter runs with reduced number of states and the computation time for the whole system increases only linearly with the number of local sensors, thus significantly reduces the computational load compared to the centralized filter approach. This paper presents the technical aspect and performance analysis of the federated filter approach. Test results show that for a network of 100 reference stations, with the centralized approach, the network processing including ionospheric modeling and network ambiguity fixing needs approximately 60 hours to process 24 hours network data in a 3.06 GHz computer, which means it is impossible to run this network in real time. With the federated filter approach, only less than 1 hour is needed, 66 times faster than the centralized filter approach. The availability and reliability of network processing remain at the same high level.
