  • This paper presents a design of a real-time software GPS receiver which runs on a PC. The software GPS receiver has advantages over conventional hardware based receivers in terms of flexibility and efficiency in application oriented system design and modification. In odor to reduce the processing time of the software operations in the receiver, a shared memory structure is used with a dynamic data control, and the byte-type IF data is processed through an Open Multi-Processing technique in the mixer and integrator which requires the most computational load. A high speed data acquisition device is used to capture the incoming high-rate IF signals. The FFT-IFFT correlation technique is used for initial acquisition and FLL assisted PLL is used for carrier tracking. All software modules are operated in sequence and are synchronized with pre-defined time scheduling. The performance of the designed software GPS receiver is evaluated by running it in real-time using the real GPS signals.

  • RTK-GPS(Real Time Kinematic GPS) surveying technique which allows centimeter level three-dimensional coordinates in real time has been recognized as a major advance in the science of GPS positioning. And no longer is it necessary to wait until post-processed results are computed after the surveying has been completed in field. The purpose of this study is to present the accuracy and effectiveness of the determinated parcel coordinate by RTK-GPS surveying technique, through the analysis and comparison of the surveying results both in Total Station and RTK-GPS.

  • We have developed Real-time Phase DAta processor(RPDAP) for GPS L1 carrie. And also, we tested the RPDAP's positioning accuracy compared with results of real time kinematic(RTK) positioning. While quality of the conventional L1 RTK positioning highly depend on receiving condition, the RPDAP can gives more stable positioning result because of different set of common GPS satellites, which searched by elevation mask angle and signal strength. In this paper, we demonstrated characteristics of the RPDAP compared with the L1 RTK technique. And we discussed several improvement ways to apply the RPDAP to precise real-time positioning using low-cost GPS receiver. With correcting the discussed weak points in new future, the RPDAP will be used in the field of precise real-time application, such as precise car navigation and precise personal location services.

  • This study aims to develop the system which is able to monitor long span bridge behavior in real time using GPS. Through measuring displacement of long span bridge by GPS in real time, over all 3D behavior of bridge could be analyzed and managed. Monitoring system of long span bridge which is developed in this study is able to manage in real time the safety of bridge by transmitting horizontal and vertical displacement of bridge, and danger signals to an integrated operations center. Also it is able to monitor the absolute behavior of long span bridge by GPS, and to construct a national bridge safety management networks.

  • A real-time image georeferencing system requires all inputs to be determined in real-time. The intrinsic camera parameters can be identified in advance from a camera calibration process while other control information can be derived instantaneously from real-time GPS/INS data. The bottleneck process is tie point acquisition since manual operations will be definitely obstacles for real-time system while the existing extraction methods are not fast enough. In this paper, we present a fast-and-automated image matching technique based on the KLT tracker to obtain a set of tie-points in real-time. The proposed work accelerates the KLT tracker by supplying the initial guessed tie-points computed using the GPS/INS data. Originally, the KLT only works effectively when the displacement between tie-points is small. To drive an automated solution, this paper suggests an appropriate number of depth levels for multi-resolution tracking under large displacement using the knowledge of uncertainties the GPS/INS data measurements. The experimental results show that our suggested depth levels is promising and the proposed work can obtain tie-points faster than the ordinary KLT by 13% with no less accuracy. This promising result suggests that our proposed algorithm can be effectively integrated into the real-time image georeferencing for further developing a real-time surveillance application.

  • Continuously Operating Reference Stations (CORS) provides GPS measurements to support high accuracy CPS positioning. The CORS improves GPS positioning productivity by eliminating the requirement for GPS users to operate two receivers. Previously, this is achieved by providing data from CORS to users in post-mission mode. However, the efficiency of the CORS will be maximized by upgrading it in real-time operation using RTK-GPS surveying because users can obtain centimeter-level accuracy in real-time without operating their own reference stations. In this research, authors extracted the arbitrary point's coordinate which is using GPS CORS data, now served in RINEX FORMAT via Internet, with observation network of the existing triangulation and GPS CORS data. And then, RTK GPS was performed with this arbitrary point as reference station.

  • This paper presents the implementation-tation of the real-time software GPS Receiver based on FFT and FLL assisted PLL tracking algorithm. The FFT(fast fourier transform) based GPS si-gnal acquisition scheme provides a fast TTFF(time to first fix) performance. The tracking based on FLL assisted PLL enables tracking of GPS signal in a high dynamic environment. The designed software GPS receiver uses the indexing method for generating replica carrier to reduce computation load. The performance of the implemented GPS receiver is evaluated using high-dynamic simulated data from a simulator and real static data.

  • For real-time displacement monitoring of large-scale structures, the high-rate (>1 Hz) GPS data processing is necessary, which is not possible even for the scientific GPS data processing softwares. Since the baseline is generally very short in this case, most of the atmospheric effects are removed, resulting in the unknowns of position and integer ambiguity. The number of unknowns in real-time kinematic GPS positioning makes the positioning impossible with usual approach, thus two-step approach is tested in this study.

  • The accuracy of GPS applications is heavily dependent on the satellite ephemeris and earth orientation parameter. Specially applications like as the real time monitoring of troposphere and ionosphere require real time or predicted ephemeris arid earth orientation parameter with very high quality. IGS is producing IGS ultra rapid product called IGU for real time applications which includes the information of ephemeris and earth orientation. IGU is being made available twice everyday at 3:00 and 15:00 UTC arid covers 48 hours. The first 24 hours of it are based on actual GPS observations and the second 24 hours extrapolated. We will construct the processing strategy for yielding ultra rapid product and demonstrate the propriety through producing it using 48 hours data of 32 stations.

  • In this paper, an efficient signal tracking method to simultaneously track both GPS L1 C/A and Galileo E1B CBOC(6,1,1/11) using a low cost GPU is proposed. In the existing method that each GNSS signal is processed within 1 ms, more than 2 ms processing time is required in GPU to process 4 ms CBOC signal. It means that real time operation is possible if only Galileo E1B CBOC signal is concerned. But when both GPS C/A and Galileo CBOC is required, it cannot process GPS C/A signal in real time. To process 1 ms GPS C/A and 4 ms Galileo CBOC signal in real time, 4 ms Galileo CBOC signal is divided into 4 by 1 ms signal block in the proposed method. Specially, a buffer that simultaneously manages 1 ms and 4 ms signals is designed. In addition, a module that accumulates the 1 ms correlation value of the Galileo CBOC by 4 ms and passes it to the PLL and DLL is implemented. The operation and performance are evaluated with real measurements in the GPU based SDR. The experimental results show that tracking of more than 16 satellites of GPS C/A and Galileo E1B is possible using the proposed method.
