  • Now AIS (Automatic Identification System) has been under full operation for ocean-going vessels, and it is expected not only to identify target ships but also to take collision avoidance using AIS information with Radar and ARFA information in restricted waters. AIS information is very useful not only for target identifications but also for taking collision avoidance, but OOW (Officer OF Watch-keeping) should take care of systematic observation of AIS because of miss-operation or malfunction of AIS. In this paper, we propose the application of Onboard Ship Handling Simulator with visual system displayed 3D scene added AIS performance such as blind areas of Island, microwave propagation, ok. and maneuvering simulation using TK models, applied real time AIS information and research the effectiveness of this system for ship handling in restricted waters, and discus the principal issues through the on board experiments. Conclusion will be expected that; 1) systematic observation of ASS information using visual scene simulator with AIS information will be effectively done, 2) observation compared with Radar and ARPA information will be also useful to make a systematic observation, 3) using the recording and replay function of simulation will be useful not only for systematic observation but also to measure and to encourage officers' skill.

  • This paper presents an algorithm for Real-Time Orbit Determination (RTOD) of navigation satellites for the Korean Regional Navigation Satellite System (KRNSS), when the navigation satellites generate ephemeris by themselves in abnormal situations. The KRNSS is an independent Regional Navigation Satellite System (RNSS) that is currently within the basic/preliminary research phase, which is intended to provide a satellite navigation service for South Korea and neighboring countries. Its candidate constellation comprises three geostationary and four elliptical inclined geosynchronous orbit satellites. Relative distance ranging between the KRNSS satellites based on Inter-Satellite Ranging (ISR) is adopted as the observation model. The extended Kalman filter is used for real-time estimation, which includes fine-tuning the covariance, measurement noise, and process noise matrices. Simulation results show that ISR precision of 0.3-0.7 m, ranging capability of 65,000 km, and observation intervals of less than 20 min are required to accomplish RTOD accuracy to within 1 m. Furthermore, close correlation is confirmed between the dilution of precision and RTOD accuracy.

  • Real-time image georeferencing is required to generate spatial information rapidly from the image sequences acquired by multi-sensor systems. To complement the performance of position/attitude sensors and process in real-time, we should employ on-line aerial triangulation based on a sequential estimation algorithm. In this study, we thus attempt to derive an efficient on-line aerial triangulation algorithm for real-time georeferencing of image sequences. We implemented on-line aerial triangulation using the existing Given transformation update algorithm, and a new inverse normal matrix update algorithm based on observation classification, respectively. To compare the performance of two algorithms in terms of the accuracy and processing time, we applied these algorithms to simulated airborne multi-sensory data. The experimental results indicate that the inverse normal matrix update algorithm shows 40 % higher accuracy in the estimated ground point coordinates and eight times faster processing speed comparing to the Given transformation update algorithm. Therefore, the inverse normal matrix update algorithm is more appropriate for the real-time image georeferencing.

  • We propose a marine observation system using existing light buoys to observe various marine information of marine locations. Our proposed ocean observation system is composed of the existing standard light buoy type and can be easily connected to the light buoy. The proposed marine observation system measures the mean wave height, maximum wave height, mean wave height and water temperature measured in the ocean. Besides, it can measure the air pressure, temperature, wind speed and wind speed in real time. In order to measure important peaks in marine observations, 2200 peak data are collected for 10 minutes, and the collected data are subjected to spectral analysis to extract significant wave and wave period data. The developed system removes the noise by using the filter because the marine observation system attaches to the light buoy. We compare and analyze the measurement data of the existing proven floating marine observation system and the standard equivalent system developed. Also, it is proved that the data of the standard type backbone ocean observation system developed through the comparative experiment is similar to that of the existing ocean observation system.

  • The purpose of this study was to approve the capability of human sensibility evaluation based on physiological responses and real-time subjective assessments. Three well-trained healthy human subjects were participated in the experiments. We measured physiological responses such as Heart Rate Variability(HRV), Galvanic Skin Response(GSR) and skin temperature under rest and visual stimulation conditions, respectively. Off-time subjective assessments were recorded before and after visual stimulations. Real-time subjective assessments were recorded during visual stimulations. The results of physiological responses and off-time and real-time subjective assessments were quantified and compared. The results showed that the correlation between physiological responses and real-time subjective assessments was high (83%) for both the positive and negative visual stimulation. The correlation between the physiological responses and off-time subjective assessments was high (83%) for the negative visual stimulation but was low (15%) for the positive visual stimulation. Although the current observation is preliminary and requires more careful experimental study, it appears that the correlation between real-time subjective assessment and physiological responses is higher than that of the off-time subjective assessment and physiological responses.

  • We propose a smart ocean meteorological observation system which is capable of real-time measurement of vulnerable marine climate and oceanographic conditions. Besides, imported products have several disadvantages such that they can't be measured for a long time and can't transmit data in real time. In the proposed system, smart ocean observation digging system, it observes real-time ocean weather with data logger methods. Furthermore, we also use existing dataloggers functions with various sensors which are available in the ocean at the same time. Also, we applied the Kalman-filter algorithm to the ocean crest measurement to reduce the noise and increase the accuracy of the real-time wave height measurement. In the experiment, we experimented the proposed system with our proposed algorithms through calibration devices in the real ocean environment. Then we compared the proposed system with and without the algorithms. As a result, the system developed with a lithium iron phosphate battery that can be charged by a system used in the ocean and minimized power consumption by using an RTC based timer for optimal use. Besides, we obtained optimal battery usage and measured values through experiments based on the measurement cycle.

  • This paper presents an autonomous system for reconstruction of three-dimensional indoor environments using a mobile robot. The system is composed of a mobile robot, a three-dimensional scanning system, and a notebook computer for registration, observation planning and real-time three-dimensional data transferring. Three-dimensional scanning system obtains three-dimensional environmental data and performs filtering of dynamic objects. Then, it registers multiple three-dimensional scans into one coordinate system and performs observation planning which finds the next scanning position by using the layered hexahedral-map and topological-map. Then, the mobile robot moves to the next scanning position, and repeats all procedures until there is no scanning tree in topological-map. In concurrence with data scanning, three-dimensional data can be transferred through wireless-LAN in real-time. This system is experimented successfully by using a mobile robot named KARA.

  • Uncertainty of power system operation increases due to complexity and facilities diversification in the power system. Therefore the importance of SCADA(Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) system which obtain and manage the actual data in real-time is very important. Accordingly in the studies of power system analysis, the efforts to include real-time power system analysis in simulation and applications are made in many ways. The real-time communication characteristics of SCADA system is considered so as to develop the power system analysis program that matches actual system conditions. The observation and management of SCADA system is realized by Intouch which is mainly used for factory automation and PSS/E(Power System Simulator for Engineers) provides real time system data. SQL DB and Python language is used for real-time communication between the softwares. It is very comfortable to use the various functions in Intouch WindowMaker.

  • Recently consideration of health and interest on bio aerosols have been growing steadily. In this study, inertial impactor, which can be used to collect airborne particles and bio aerosols, was newly devised for real-time observation on the particles collected on impaction plate. and named Visual Impactor. Flow field and particle trajectory in the space between nozzle and impaction plate was analyzed numerically, and the collection effciencies were calculated. Calibration and performance evaluation of the Visual Impactor was conducted with polydisperse aerosols generated from 0.1% sodium chloride solution. Cut-off diameter from numerical simulation was in good agreement with that from experimental results. Because of particle bounce and particle deposition on nozzle tip due to short jet-to-plate distance, the collection efficiencies from numerical and experimental analyses were different slightly. Visual Impactor was used to collect airborne particles, and the features of collected particles could be seen in real-time. Airborne particles in different weather conditions (fine, cloudy, and rainy) were sampled and compared one another The features of collected airborne particles were dependent strongly upon relative humidity. In addition, with hours elapsing, shapes and colors of collected particles were changed by evaporation and surface tension, etc.

  • We developed the ocean disaster detection system(OD2S) which copes with the occurrences of ocean disasters (e. g. the red and green tide, the oil spill, the typhoon, and the sea ice) by converging and integrating the ocean color remote sensing using the satellite and the information technology exploiting the mass data processing and the pattern recognitions. This system which is based on the cosine similarity detects the ocean disasters in real time. The existing ocean color sensors which are operated in the polar orbit platforms cannot conduct the real time observation of ocean environments because they support the low temporal resolutions of one observation a day. However, geostationary ocean color imager(GOCI), the first geostationary ocean color sensor in the world, produces the ocean color images(e. g. the chlorophyll, the colored dissolved organic matter(CDOM), and the total suspended solid(TSS)), with high temporal resolutions of hourly intervals up to eight observations a day. The evaluation demonstrated that the OD2S can detect the excessive concentration of chlorophyll, CDOM, and TSS. Based on these results, it is expected that OD2S detects the ocean disasters in real time.
