For the real-time power system analysis, there exists a limitation to the scale of the system to be simulated, hence it is necessary for the real-time simulation to develop reduced equivalent systems which preserve the desired property of the original system. In this paper, a procedure for developing an equivalent system whose scale is reduced within the hardware capacity of a real-time simulator is proposed. Also, the proposed procedure is applied to a KEPCO's system. The comparison between the original system and equivalent systems illustrates the capabilities of the proposed procedure.

For real-time displacement monitoring of large-scale structures, the high-rate (>1 Hz) GPS data processing is necessary, which is not possible even for the scientific GPS data processing softwares. Since the baseline is generally very short in this case, most of the atmospheric effects are removed, resulting in the unknowns of position and integer ambiguity. The number of unknowns in real-time kinematic GPS positioning makes the positioning impossible with usual approach, thus two-step approach is tested in this study.

KH University has developed a large sky simulator which is its scale suits international standard. To verify the reliability of the sky simulator, the luminance of 36 points on the inner sky surface was measured and compared with the CIE standard overcast sky model. It was found that the sky simulator can reproduce the CIE standard overcast sky condition with 1.8[%] of mean difference. To identify the differences of daylighting performance, scale model measurements were taken under a real sky and in a sky simulator. Under overcast sky conditions, two kinds of scale model experiments were conducted by using the photometric sensor Li-cor. Firstly, a 1/20 scale model of a side-lit office room 4.9[m] wide, 7.2[m] long, and 2.6[m] high was created. Five measurement points were set at 1.2[m], 2.4[m], 3.6[m], 4.8[m], and 6.0[m] from the window. The mean difference of the light factor between the sky simulator and real sky was 7.1[%]. Secondly, a 1/30 scale model of a top-lit atrium 15[m] wide, 15[m] long, and 15[m] high was created. The measurement point was set at center of the room and the well indexes of the model were set in 5 types. The mean difference of the light factor between the sky simulator and real sky was 1.7[%]. This proved that the sky simulator is fully accurate and usable for daylighting research.
Objectives : Proper acupuncture stimulation is associated with a characteristic set of sensation usually referred to as 'De-Qi'. In order to develop the appropriate sham acupuncture, various sensations to each stimulation should be considered through analysis of the profiles of acupuncture sensation. It was therefore investigated to compare the acupuncture sensation scale (ASS) of two types of sham acupuncture to that of the real acupuncture. Methods : Ninety-four participants (mean age 26.4, range 26-49) were asked to complete five point-Likert scale ASS developed by Vincent et al. after real or two-kinds of sham acupuncture stimulation: blunted tip sham acupuncture (BT) and round tip sham acupuncture (RT). Needling was done at LI4 acupoint on non-dominant hand and stimulated for 30 seconds with real or two-kinds of sham needle. Finger withdrawal latency (FWL) of each group was also measured to evaluate the pain sensitivity to noxious heat stimuli. Results : BT acupuncture significantly less produced penetrating, numb, intense, hurting, pulling, shock, tingling, throbbing sensation than real acupuncture stimulation. RT acupuncture significantly less produced penetrating, burning, electric, numb, intense, hurting, pulling, aching, shasharp, shock, stinging, tingling, throbbing sensation than real acupuncture. Each group did not demonstrate the differences of pain sensitivity to noxious stimuli. Conclusions : These results indicated that types of tip of acupuncture produced different kinds of acupuncture sensation. Our finding provides a general information of sensations to two kinds of sham acupuncture for development of ideal placebo sham needle.
FMI is being researched as a standard for linking large-scale simulation of CPS. In order to guarantee the reliability of the results in large-scale simulations using FMI, event handling through time management techniques is required. This paper aims to guarantee real-time performance and accuracy in large-scale co-simulation environments such as CPS. Synchronize the wallclock time and simulation time to ensure real time. Also, to ensure the accuracy, before the simulation, the event is checked and the simulation is performed with the smallest step size while maintaining the real time until the event occurrence time. As a result, the events occurring in the co-simulation environment are processed immediately and sequentially, ensuring the real-time performance and minimizing the numerical integration error by maximizing the simulation resolution. In the experiment, the proposed method was processed immediately, and it was confirmed that the numerical integration error is reduced by about 1/5 unlike the existing time management method which does not guarantee the resolution.

The earthquakes are the natural disasters that can cause the most serious damage to civil structures. Therefore, various studies are being conducted to secure the safety of structures against earthquakes. Most studies on the safety or mechanism of civil structures during earthquakes are being conducted based on lab scale test, because real structure tests are impossible when considering the scale of civil structures. The scaling factor proposed by Iai is mainly cited, but when applying the scaling factor proposed by Iai, there are many difficulties in selecting the structural members necessary for the production of the lab scale model. This is because when applying the scaling factor proposed by Iai, the scaling factor must be applied to the elastic modulus, which is the material property of the structure. Therefore, a new method based on Iai's 's similarity law for determining scale factor is applied in this study where the material property of real structure is same as that of lab-scale model. Through the results of this study, it is considered that the characteristics of the structure calculated through the lab scale model test can more accurately reflect the characteristics of the real structure.
Nowadays, studies on the fusion of Semantic Web technologies are being carried out to promote the interoperability and value of sensor data in an IoT environment. To accomplish this, the semantic translation of sensor data is essential for convergence with service domain knowledge. The existing semantic translation technique, however, involves translating from static metadata into semantic data(RDF), and cannot properly process real-time and large-scale features in an IoT environment. Therefore, in this paper, we propose a technique for translating large-scale streaming sensor data generated in an IoT environment into semantic data, using real-time and parallel processing. In this technique, we define rules for semantic translation and store them in the semantic repository. The sensor data is translated in real-time with parallel processing using these pre-defined rules and an ontology-based semantic model. To improve the performance, we use the Apache Storm, a real-time big data analysis framework for parallel processing. The proposed technique was subjected to performance testing with the AWS observation data of the Meteorological Administration, which are large-scale streaming sensor data for demonstration purposes.
This paper introduces the improvement of connection method for segment in tunnel lining system using prestressed steel cable and presents the results of real-scale tests. It conducted a study about the applicability and mechanical behaviour analysis of the new method that connects segment tunnel lining using prestressed steel cable by real-scale test. Through the research, it was found that the new method has stronger connection than conventional assembling methods. Also, the new method can be expected to have integrated behavior and stability increase of shield tunnel lining. It is considered that the new method is much more effective than conventional assembling methods.

In most power plants, wall thinning in carbon-steel pipes due to flow-accelerated corrosion is one of the major aging phenomena, and it reduces the load-carrying capacity of the piping system. Various types of wall-thinning defects were manufactured in real-scale elbows, and monotonic in-plane bending tests were performed under internal pressure to evaluate the failure behavior of the elbows. In this paper, the behavior of elastic and plastic limit leads of locally thinned elbows in a real-scale failure test is presented. The loads determined on the basis of TES (twice elastic slope) were considered to be the limit loads of locally thinned elbows so that the integrity of the thinned elbows could be maintained, even when a small amount of plastic deformation might have occurred.

In this study, to investigate an energy reduction effect by field application of cylindrical baffle arrays, the 3D Debris flow numerical analysis was conducted with various baffle configurations for the simulation of a real-scale valley, where the cylindrical baffle arrays were installed. For this, the valley of the watershed was modeled using terrestrial LiDAR data from the real-scale experiment site. Numerical analysis simulated the flow behavior of debris flow and the structures using Smooth Particle Hydrodynamics (SPH) technique of ABAQUS (Ver. 2021). The numerical analysis results that the case without cylindrical baffle arrays had a similar velocity change to that of the real-scale experiment. Also, the installation of baffles significantly reduced the frontal velocity of debris flow. Furthermore, increasing the baffle height increased the downstream energy reduction because of the higher flow impedance of taller baffles.
