An interactive environment for simulation and real-time implementation of control systems

  • An approach to efficient implementation of real-time control systems is presented in this paper. A compiler for translation of control algorithms is used in combination with a general program for real-time control. The compiler translates control algorithms written for the simulation in a design language to an implementation language. The translated algorithms are then automatically incorporated in the real-time control program.

  • In this study, Site Investigation Program of cut slope is developed using related techniques and experience got from practical application of Inventory Survey Program of cut slope in work for last 4 years. The Site Investigation Program is designed to can be loaded to the Mobile PC for convenience of carrying in filed, convenience of data input and revision, application of diverse programs, convenience of confirming data and facility of establishment of real-time database system using wireless communication like Inventory Survey Program. Also, for connection with Inventory Survey Program, it has a same work process and can establish real-time database system of almost data obtained in filed using stability analysis tool loaded in this program. Application of this developed program is expected to be an opportunity that can contribute to development of slope investigation and database system area using IT techniques.

  • This paper proposes a method to ensure security attacks caused by insertion of malicious codes in a real-time control system that can be accessed through networks. The proposed technique is for dynamically upgradable real-time software through networks and based on a static program analysis technique to detect the malicious uses of memory access statements. Validation results are shown using a remotely upgradable real-time control system equipped with a modified compiler where the proposed security technique is applied.

  • In this research a real-time control system was developed without program codings during control system designing procedures. On the Simulink window control system is designed in the form of block diagrams, program codes are produced automatically with the real time workshop package, then C-compiler compiles the program codes. With this automatic real-time program producing mechanism rapid prototyping is realized. To show effectiveness of the proposed system designing scheme a DSP-based DC motor speed control system was constructed and PI and Fuzzy control methods were implemented.

  • Recently, many studies have been undergoing to reduce working time in field of machine tool. There are two ways of reducing working time to reduce actual working time by heighten spindle speed and to reduce stand-by time by shortening tool exchange time. Auto tool changer belongs to latter case. Fixed address type auto tool changer can store more number of tools in small space than magazine transfer Ope and can shorten tool exchange time. This study focuses on the topology optimization to reduce the weight of the fixed address type ATC. The optimization program using a real number coding genetic algorithm is developed and is applied to the 10-bar truss optimization problem to verify the developed program. And, it is shown that the developed program gives better results than other methods. Finally, The developed program applied to optimize the fixed address type ATC.

  • In this reaserch, a program for real time simulation of a vehicle is developed. This program uses relative coordinates to save the computation time and BDF(Backward Difference Formula) to integrate system variables. Numerical tests were performed for J-turn and Lane change steering, respectively. The validity of the program is proved by the ADAMS package. Numerical results showed that the proposed implicit method is more stable in carrying out the numerical integration for vehicle dynamics than the explicit method. Hardware requirements for real time simulation are suggested.

  • This paper introduces a real-time load flow program for Korean energy management system(EMS). This study is concentrated on the following aspects. First, we propose the model of the real-time database and power system equipment for the real-time load flow. These models are extracted from the needs of load flow functions and are designed to the application common information. Second, several techniques are applied for the efficient convergence and computational speed. The generation/load mismatch is redistributed using generator participation factors which are separated to the reference bus. For the voltage control, the jacobian matrix is composed with the basic Y matrix elements and the voltage control elements. Through the optimally ordering, jacobian row and column for a column is changed. However all jacobian matrix entries have same order with the Y matrix. The proposed program is tested using the Korea Electric Power Corporation(KEPCO) system. Through the test, we verified that the proposed program can be effectively used to accomplish the Korean EMS system.

  • Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) is one of key features on intelligent Transportation System(ITS). In ACC, the steering is done by a driver, but the engine throttle valve and the brake are controlled electronically. The relative velocity and distance from the preceeding vehicle are measured by radars or image processing units and relevant vehicular spacing is maintained in ACC control systems. In this study, vehicle longitudinal dynamics are modeled to simulate vehicle longitudinal maneuver and to design longtitudinal controllers for ACC vehicles. The control algorithm is designed based on the modeled vehicle longitudinal dynamics using a non-linear sliding mode control method. To verity the performance of the control algorithm, a real time numerical simulation program is developed on a Silicon Graphics workstation using C-language . A real time graphic program is alos develpe and integrated with the numerical simulation program.
