  • This paper suggests a method of real time confidence interval estimation to detect abnormal states of sensor data. For real time confidence interval estimation, the mean square errors of the exponential smoothing method and moving average method, two of the time series analysis method, were compared, and the moving average method with less errors was applied. When the sensor data passes the bounds of the confidence interval estimation, the administrator is notified through alarms. As the suggested method is for real time anomaly detection in a ship, an Android terminal was adopted for better communication between the wireless sensor network and users. For safe navigation, an administrator can make decisions promptly and accurately upon emergency situation in a ship by referring to the anomaly detection information through real time confidence interval estimation.

  • This paper presents the development of the I/O Interface for the real time parallel data communication between controller of a six-axis industrial robot(CRS-A460) and an external computer. The proposed I/O Interface consists of the hardware I/O interface and the software that is downloaded to the robot controller and executed by the controller operating system. The constitution of the digital I/O Port for CRS-A460 robot controller and the digital I/O board for IBM-PC are presented as well as the Process Control Program of the robot controller. The developed protocol for the parallel data communication is described. The data communication is tested, and the performance is analysed. In particular, it is shown that the real-time constraint of the robot controller process is satisfied.

  • Apache Spark, which provides the fastest processing speed among recent distributed and parallel processing technologies, provides real-time functions and machine learning functions. Although official documentation guides for these functions are provided, a method for fusion of functions to predict a specific value in real time is not provided. Therefore, in this paper, we conducted a study to predict the value of data in real time by fusion of these functions. The overall configuration is collected by downloading stock price data provided by the Python programming language. And it creates a model of regression analysis through the machine learning function, and predicts the adjusted closing price among the stock price data in real time by fusing the real-time streaming function with the machine learning function.

  • In this paper, we discuss real-time control of networked control systems (NCSs) and practical issues in the choice of the communication networks for this purpose. An appropriate integration of control systems, real-time environments, and network communication systems allows the optimization of the quality-of-control (QoC) in NCSs. We compare several prevailing network types that may be used in control applications to offer a guideline of choosing a proper network. A real-time operating environment is also presented as an important ingredient of NCS design. To evaluate its feasibility and effectiveness, a real-time NCS containing a ball magnetic levitation (Maglev) setup is implemented via an Ethernet. Based on the experimental results, it is concluded in this paper that real-time control via Ethernet is a practical and feasible solution to NCS design.

  • The effective data processing mechanism in the sensor network means data stream model and real-time query processing model for real-time processing of stream data. This mechanism can improve satisfaction of users and reduce delay rate of data processing. In this paper, we explain the problem which is occurred when users need to search certain information among information of stream data and describe reduction model of delay rate according to data transmission.

  • In this paper, we present a patient real-time vital sign information transmission system to effectively support developing real-time communication service by using a real-time object model named TMO (Time-Triggered Message-Triggered Object). Also, we describes the application environment as the PMS(Patient Monitoing System) to guarantee real-time service message with TMO structure in distributed network systems. We have to design to obtain useful vital sign information, which is generated at parsing data receiver modulor of HIS with TMO structure, that is offered by the central monitor of PMS. Vital sign informations of central monitor is composed of the raw data of several bedsite patient monitors. We are willing to maintain vital sign information of real time and continuity that is generated from the bedsite patient monitor. In the real time simulation techniques based on TMO object modeling, we have observed several advantages to the TMO structuring scheme. TMO object modeling has a strong traceability between requirement specification and design.

  • Information and communication technology (ICT) is a promising solution for mitigating road traffic congestion. ICT allows road users and vehicles to be managed based on real-time road status information. In Tanzania, traffic congestion causes losses of TZS 655 billion per year. The main objective of this study was to develop an optimal approach for integrating real-time road information (RRI) to mitigate traffic congestion. Our research survey focused on three cities that are highly affected by traffic congestion, i.e., Arusha, Mwanza, and Dar es Salaam. The results showed that ICT is not yet utilized fully to solve road traffic congestion. Thus, we established a possible approach for Tanzania based on an analysis of road traffic data provided by organizations responsible for road traffic management and road users. Furthermore, we evaluated the available road information management techniques to test their suitability for use in Tanzania. Using the floating car data technique, fuzzy logic was implemented for real-time traffic level detection and decision making. Based on this solution, we propose a RRI system architecture, which considers the effective utilization of readily available communication technology in Tanzania.

  • The IEEE 802.15.4 standard not only provides a maximum of seven guaranteed time slots (GTSs) for allocation within a superframe to support time-critical traffic, but also achieves ultralow complexity, cost, and power in low-rate and short-distance wireless personal area networks (WPANs). Real-time wireless body area sensor networks (WBASNs), as a special purpose WPAN, can perfectly use the IEEE 802. 15. 4 standard for its wireless connection. In this paper, we propose an adaptive GTS allocation scheme for real-time WBASN data transmissions with different priorities in consideration of low latency, fairness, and bandwidth utilization. The proposed GTS allocation scheme combines a weight-based priority assignment algorithm with an innovative starvation avoidance scheme. Simulation results show that the proposed method significantly outperforms the existing GTS implementation for the traditional IEEE 802.15.4 in terms of average delay, contention free period bandwidth utilization, and fairness.

  • A slipring or FORJ are usually adopted in order for power supply of Geo-centrifuge and input/output data acquisition. Since using slipring causes quite a lot electrical noise, an optical communication using FORJ becomes more general for data acquisition. Such data acquisition devices, however, require frequent maintenance and replacement due to deterioration by long term usage. DICT has set up a real-time wireless date acquisition system using wireless communication technology instead of FORJ. The system enables a remote measurement at any inertial acceleration field up to 100g level and provides as same performance as FORJ. The priority of this system is to use a normal modem substituting a special FORJ.
