Training of Fuzzy-Neural Network for Voice-Controlled Robot Systems by a Particle Swarm Optimization

  • The present paper shows the possible development of particle swarm optimization (PSO) based fuzzy-neural networks (FNN) which can be employed as an important building block in real life robot systems, controlled by voice-based commands. The PSO is employed to train the FNNs which can accurately output the crisp control signals for the robot systems, based on fuzzy linguistic spoken language commands, issued by an user. The FNN is also trained to capture the user spoken directive in the context of the present performance of the robot system. Hidden Markov Model (HMM) based automatic speech recognizers are developed, as part of the entire system, so that the system can identify important user directives from the running utterances. The system is successfully employed in a real life situation for motion control of a redundant manipulator.

제7차 중학교 ‘환경’ 교육과정과 청소년 환경교육 (Middle School Environmental Education of the 7th National Curriculum and Application to Teen-agers Practice of Environmental Education)

  • The Quality of human living depends on the environmental quality of the region sustaining the life. The environmental deterioration of the modern society is due to mechanical environmentalism. For the better quality of the life, The changes of recognition and attitude on the environments are required. These changes of mind are also important in environmental education for teenagers. The 7th national curriculum, officially anounced December 1998, focuses on the change of attitude to environments and practical behavior in real life for “Environments”, the environmental education curriculum in middle school. Basic elements of the curriculum are cultivation of the pro-environmental thinking, multi-levelling of teaching materials and methods, and encouraging of student participating activity. Actually, the curriculum construction is composed of stepped-levelling of teaching and learning, reasonable contents volume, encouraging of student practice, and suggesting of evaluation standards of textbook writing. Three main subjects of environmental education for middle school consist of (1) man and environment, (2) recognition of environmental problem, and (3) protection activity for environment. Methodology of environmental education can include multi-disciplinary approaches, variable teaching methods, and continuing evaluation of student practice and participation attitude. Environmental education for teenagers relating to the 7th national curriculum focuses on recognition of the environmental problems and practice activity in daily life. The recognition includes considering relationship of human life to environment, solving environmental problems in regional context, and development of comprehensive understanding concept of the environments. For the practice education, variable teaching methods, such as field survey and application of multi-media, are needed.

Intestinal organoids as advanced modeling platforms to study the role of host-microbiome interaction in homeostasis and disease

  • After birth, animals are colonized by a diverse community of microorganisms. The digestive tract is known to contain the largest number of microbiome in the body. With emergence of the gut-brain axis, the importance of gut microbiome and its metabolites in host health has been extensively studied in recent years. The establishment of organoid culture systems has contributed to studying intestinal pathophysiology by replacing current limited models. Owing to their architectural and functional complexity similar to a real organ, co-culture of intestinal organoids with gut microbiome can provide mechanistic insights into the detrimental role of pathobiont and the homeostatic function of commensal symbiont. Here organoid-based bacterial co-culture techniques for modeling host-microbe interactions are reviewed. This review also summarizes representative studies that explore impact of enteric microorganisms on intestinal organoids to provide a better understanding of host-microbe interaction in the context of homeostasis and disease.

  • The solution of the environment problem is the common issue all over the world, for this reason the necessity of the environmental education of school has emphasized. On this a variety method for environmental education is needed, this paper planned and applied the 'ecology & environment' for high school which are based on GBS theory and presented a new model of environment education. GBS(Goal-Based Scenario) is that learners are presented with an end goal that is motivating and challenging. This goal is structured such that, in order to successfully meet it learners are required to build a predetermined core set of skills and knowledge by process mission and scenario. GBS is an active learning environment in which learners are trained in study that have a real-world context. When they are back in real-world they have increased ability to apply what was learned by reflecting on the GBS learning experience. This study was designed on GBS theory and taught a class by using internet Blog. As a result, when carefully reviewing the materials such as final presentation reflect journal, we conclude that the students' awareness of a learning environment is improved and the students seems to try to apply the learning outcome to a real life.

  • 모바일 장치에서 수집되는 로그 데이터는 개인의 일상에 대한 다양하고 지속적인 정보를 담고 있다. 이로부터 얻을 수 있는 사용자의 위치, 사진, 사용중인 모바일장치 기능 및 서비스의 종류를 통하여 사용자의 상태를 추론하고 개인의 일상을 이해하는 연구가 많은 관심을 받고 있다. 본 논문에서는 모바일 장치로부터 실시간으로 로그 데이터를 수집, 분석하고 이를 지도기반으로 시각화하여 개인 일상에 대한 정보를 효과적으로 관리할 수 있도록 하며 다른 사용자와 이 정보를 공유하여 상호 사용 가능한 어플리케이션을 개발한다. 제안하는 어플리케이션은 베이지안 네트워크 확률 모델을 채택하여 개인의 상황을 추론한다. 실험에서는 실제로 수집된 로그 정보를 바탕으로 효율적 시각화 및 다른 사용자와의 정보 공유 기능의 유용성을 확인하였다.

이미지 속에서 살아남다? 초상화에서의 삶과 죽음 (Afterlife with Image: Life and Death in Portraiture)

  • Pliny the Elder said that multiple cultures agree that the painting began as a shadow trace. A daughter of Butades, the potter in Corinth, traced an outline around a man's shadow, and it was the very beginning of painting. In this anecdote, the profile, i. e. the portrait substitutes body of the absent lover. It makes the absent body present and replaces his place. In this context Hans Belting put the anthropological value to this visual practice. Human being made images to cope actively with the shock of death and the disappearing of body. With the aid of the representation of the bodily presence, the image struggles to resist the death. This paper is a study on the critical meaning of representation in the context of bodily survival by image. The representation is the paradoxical trick of consciousness, an ability to see something as 'there' and 'not there' at the same time. So the connection between image and the body would be suspicious. Although this relation was tight in the ancient shadow painting and the medieval effigies, the modern visual practice forsakes this connection and exposes the trick of representation. It insists that image was not real and even expels the medieval visual practice from the boundary of fine arts. The genealogy of the portraiture is formed by two different visual practices. The belief and the disbelief in the image are observed in the process of representation and anti-representation, and this ambivalence transforms the ontological meaning of portrait in the visual representation.

A Service Composition using Hierarchical Model in Multiple Service Environment

  • Internet-of-Things (IoT) becomes one of the most promising future paradigms, which foresees enormous amounts of interoperable things and heterogeneous services. The goal of IoT is to enable all things connected and brings all kinds information and services to people. However, such a great deal of information may lead to cognitive overload or restrain in productivity of people. Thus, it is a necessity to build intelligent mechanisms to assist people in accessing the information or services they needed in a proactive manner. Most of previous related mechanisms are built on well-defined web services and lack of consideration of constrained resources. This paper suggests a services composition method by adapting a hierarchical model, which is a graph-based model composed of four layers: Context Layer, Event Layer, Service Layer and Device Layer. With a such multi-layer graph, service composition can be achieved by the iteration of layer by layer. Then, to evaluate the effectiveness of this proposed hierarchical model, a real-life emergency response dataset is applied and the experimental results are composed with the general probabilistic method and indicate that the proposed method is help for compositing multiple services while considering given context and constrained resources.

단위분수에 대한 초등학교 3학년 학생들의 이해 분석 : 지도 맥락과 시각적 표현의 관점에서 (An Analysis of Students' Understanding on Unit Fraction : Focusing on Teaching Context and Visual Representation)

  • Despite the significance of fraction in elementary mathematics education, it is not easy to teach it meaningfully in connection with real life in Korea. This study aims to investigate and analyze 3rd grade students' understanding on unit fraction concepts and on comparison of unit fractions and to identify the parts which need to be supplemented in relation to unit fraction. For these purposes, I reviewed previous studies and extracted chapters which cover unit fractions in elementary mathematics textbooks based on 2009 revised curriculums and analyzed teaching contexts and visual representations of unit fractions. From this point of view, I constructed a test which consists of three problems based on Chval et al(2013) to investigate students' understanding on unit fraction. To apply this test, I selected forty-one 3rd grade students and examined that students' aspects of understanding on unit fraction. The results were analyzed both qualitatively and quantitatively. In this study, I present the analysis results and provide implications and some didactical suggestions for teaching contexts and visual representations of unit fraction based on the discussion.

박물관 맥락에서의 로봇성격 설정의 중요성 연구 (The Importance of Robot Personality in a Museum Context)

  • 본 연구는 사람과 로봇의 인터랙션을 알아보는 것을 목적으로 한다. 영화 속에서 등장하는 로봇과는 달리 실생활에서 만나는 로봇에는 특정한 성격이 존재하지 않는다. 본 연구는 다른 맥락을 가지고 있는 공간에서 로봇의 성격을 어떤 식으로 매치하는 것이 효과적인가에 대해 논의하고 있다. 본 연구의 목적을 달성하기 위해 외향성, 내향성이라는 두 가지 성격의 유형을 구분하고 선행연구에 기반하여 전통적인 형태의 박물관, 과정 중심적인 박물관 유형 조건으로 피험자간 설계를 실시하였다. 연구 결과, 피험자들은 로봇의 성격만 보았을 때 체험요소에 유의미한 영향을 미치지 못한 것으로 나타났다. 반면 다른 맥락의 장소 조건에서는 사회 정체감 요소에서 유의미한 결과를 보였다. 또한 모든 조건에서의 인터랙션 효과는 유의미하게 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 흥미로운 사실은 사용자가 가장 선호하는 조건은 외향적 성격의 로봇과 과정 중심적인 박물관 유형이며, 사용자가 가장 선호하지 않는 조건은 외향적 성격의 로봇과 전통적 유형의 박물관이었다. 이러한 결과의 함의에 대해서는 본문에서 논의하고 있다. 통계 분석은 JMP 9을 사용하여 리서치 모델 및 가설을 검증 하였다.

상황 인식 모바일 컴퓨팅을 위한 사운드 분류 시스템의 설계 및 구현 (Design and Implementation of a Sound Classification System for Context-Aware Mobile Computing)

  • 본 논문에서는 스마트폰 사용자의 실시간 상황 인식을 위한 효과적인 사운드 분류 시스템을 제안한다. 이 시스템은 전처리 과정에서 입력 사운드 데이터로부터 고요한 사운드와 화이트 노이즈를 미리 여과해버림으로써, 제한적인 계산 자원의 불필요한 소모를 막을 수 있다. 또한 에너지 레벨이 낮은 사운드 데이터들은 사전에 증폭시킴으로써, 이들에 대한 분류 성능을 향상시킬 수 있다. 또, 제안하는 사운드 분류 시스템은 HMM 분류 모델의 효율적인 학습과 적용을 위해 k-평균 군집화를 이용하여 특징 벡터들에 대한 차원 축소와 이산화를 수행한다. 한 대학 연구동내 일상생활로부터 수집한 8가지 유형의 사운드 데이터 집합을 이용하여 제안한 시스템의 성능 분석 실험을 수행하였다. 이 실험을 통해 본 논문에서 제안한 사운드 분류 시스템은 높은 분류 성능을 보여 주었다.
