Policy Diagnoses and Prescriptions of Crisis on Industrial Regions in the Republic of Korea (한국 산업위기지역에 대한 정책적 진단과 처방)

  • The aim of this article is to introduce articles of the special issue on 'Revitalization Conditions on Crisis on Industrial Regions: Experience from Europe and the Republic of Korea, and to explore policy alternatives to crisis on industrial regions on the basis of policy diagnoses and prescriptions. In the existing research, diagnoses of such Korean regions are quantitatively focused upon industry, employment, plant, consumption, investment, real estate, and labour market, and are qualitatively based upon external environment and functional, structural and spatial characteristics. Prescriptions of such regions emphasize the establishment of a law and an institutional fix, financial supports, jobs' creation, industrial diversification, the intensification of urban foundation throughout the urban revitalizaion. In the policy development for these regions, it is required to link the industrial sector to social, educational, political and welfare sectors, and furthermore the collaboration of inter- and intra-ministry and the active participation of provincial and local governments are needed.

The Relationship between Global Imbalance and Exchange Rates: Effectiveness of the Bretton Woods II Hypothesis (글로벌 불균형과 환율의 관계 : '제2차 브레튼 우즈(Bretton Woods II)' 가설의 유효성)

  • This paper investigates the effectiveness of the Bretton Woods II hypothesis, by analysing the relationship between the exchange rates and the U.S. current account against 9 Asian countries for the period of 1999-2008. According to the estimation results, It is found that the Asian currencies' real depreciation significantly have worsened the U.S. current account against the Asian countries. Also, the U.S. current account was significantly affected by GDP and investment of the U.S. and the Asian countries. Thus, It is hard to say that the main driver of the global imbalance is the exchange rates devaluation policies of Asian countries as the Bretton Woods II hypothesis argues. The global imbalance is more likely to be complementally affected by savings glut in the Asian region and the deficiency of net saving in the U.S. Therefore, the global imbalance is expected to adjust when economic conditions besides exchange rates change.

Guarantees of Applying Disclosure and Transparency on the Companies Listed in the Saudi Capital Market

  • By explaining the essence of corporate governance as well as disclosure and transparency, the study examined the guarantees of applying disclosure and transparency to firms listed on the Saudi stock exchange. The research also addressed the disclosure and transparency duties of firms listed on the Saudi stock exchange. Finance to prepare a prospectus, as the Capital Market Authority's regulations required that the prospectus includes information that enables the investor in securities to make his investment decision based on real foundations based on the issuing company's financial position and to ensure that companies fulfill that disclosure in the prospectus. Firms who fail to disclose are required by law to do so, and the Capital Market Authority's laws mandate companies listed on the financial market to regularly report fundamental events linked to the issuer or the securities issued by it. The Capital Market Authority must make it available to the public dealing with the business issuing the securities, and The Capital Market Authority's Law and Regulations have imposed fines on corporations that do not comply with disclosure and make the Board of Director's report available. The research focused on activities that the legislator deemed to be a breach of the obligation of openness, such as the danger of many measures aimed at ensuring the impartiality and transparency of trading in the Saudi financial market, as well as the absence of conflicts of interest. The research also addressed the sanctions imposed on The source for failing to meet the obligation of disclosure and openness, as well as the mechanisms of compensating persons harmed by the failure to meet that responsibility.

  • As transaction and investment using technology are vitalized, the need for objective standards for the technology is increasing. Current technology value evaluation system is limited lacking reliability and objectivity. Besides the traditional evaluation methodology which are market approach, income approach and cost approach other diverse evaluation methodology such as real option method and royalty calculation method are being studied; however currently there are no dominant evaluation methodology in the market. Same value evaluation system cannot be applied between similar technologies because value of technology is relatively decided based on the target. Approaching through collective intelligence and crowd sourcing, in meaning of majority participant's decision can make objective and better result than handful of experts, suggest alternative to problems of such matter above. By grafting the four types of crowd sourcing model which are Wisdom, Voting, Funding and Creation, this paper will discuss the ways to enhance the objectivity of technology evaluation through direct evaluation utilizing expert group and the public's indirect evaluation.

A Study on the Types of Virtual Influencers in China Using Q Methodology

  • Modern people live a life connected with the real world and the virtual world by relying on the new media of enterprises and social consumption led by innovative technologies. In this environment, virtual influencers actively communicate with consumers and build relationships through social media, which is a new marketing tool that has attracted widespread attention. From a business perspective, it is necessary to have a solid understanding of this phenomenon, and then explore communication strategies to effectively develop virtual influencers. To investigate followers' preference for virtual influencers, this study employs the Q-method, which studies human subjective attributes, an empirical research effort to uncover complex issues in human subjectivity. To determine the factors that trigger people's voluntary and active practice and the preference degree of virtual influencers, the Q method is implemented to examine human subjectivity, thoughts and attitudes. According to the results of this study, virtual influencers are a new group of idols full of vitality. The interviews found that there are still many virtual influencers who do not know about followers, but each type can be clearly understood through the intuitive understanding of the interviewees. Divided out, type 1 one egoideal virtual influencers aim to represent an idealized version of the creator or target audience. Embodies ideal physical characteristics, personality or lifestyle desired by the audience. Type 2 is charismatic and attractive, and has the characteristics of most virtual influencers. It is suggested that it can be developed into a potential type, doing brand cooperation, and content production on social media platforms. Type 3: Game animation, derived from the image of characters in games or comics, with stylized features and energetic personalities, which can be integrated into games or entertainment experiences. Type 4 development potential type is the most successful type among virtual imagers, and it is also the purpose of marketing virtual influencers. It is essential that brand endorsement on social media platforms, integrated marketing, and driving advertising traffic. It is recommended to improve production technology to reduce investment costs.

  • With the softness of online entertainment news articles and the increasing number of quick-reporting articles in the entertainment sector, many people have access to entertainment front-page articles and are now able to make reviews of celebrities. It is not easy to systematically analyze which news articles are about which celebrities in a real-time environment, although their reputation is a key factor in the entertainment agency's business strategy, which should make the most of its affiliated celebrity resources. Based on the amount of celebrity references mentioned in entertainment news data, this paper proposes an entertainment news keyword analysis system, which extracts celebrities that are the subject of the article and associates them with the celebrity entertainment agency in question. Through the system proposed in this paper, advertisers or entertainment agencies can judge the value of the celebrity as reference material for the business. In addition, it can lay the groundwork for an investment strategy by predicting the outlook for the entertainment company for brokerages and investors.

  • The advancement of Internet network technology has triggered the emergence of new OTT video content platforms, increasing demand for content and altering consumption patterns. This trend is bringing positive changes to the South Korean animation industry, where diverse and high-quality animation content is becoming increasingly important. As investment in technology grows, video production technology continues to advance. Specifically, 3D animation and VFX production technologies are enabling effects that were previously unthinkable, offering detailed and realistic graphics. The Fourth Industrial Revolution is providing new opportunities for this technological growth. The rise of Artificial Intelligence (AI) is automating repetitive tasks, thereby enhancing production efficiency and enabling innovations that go beyond traditional production methods. Cutting-edge technologies like 3D animation and VFX are being continually researched and are expected to be more actively integrated into the production process. Design and Implementation of Early Warning Monitoring System for Cross-border Mining in Open-pit Mines (노천광산의 월경 채굴 조기경보 모니터링시스템의 설계 및 구현)

  • For the scenario of open pit mining, at present, manual periodic verification is mainly carried out in China with the help of video surveillance, which requires continuous investment in labor cost and has poor timeliness. In order to solve this difficult problem of early warning and monitoring, this paper researches a spatialized algorithmic model and designs an early warning system for open-pit mine transboundary mining, which is realized by calculating the coordinate information of the mining and extracting equipments and comparing it with the layer coordinates of the approval range of the mines in real time, so as to realize the determination of the transboundary mining behavior of the mines. By taking the Pingxiang area of Jiangxi Province as the research object, after the field experiment, it shows that the system runs stably and reliably, and verifies that the target tracking accuracy of the system is high, which can effectively improve the early warning capability of the open-pit mines' overstepping the boundary, improve the timeliness and accuracy of mine supervision, and reduce the supervision cost.

The Social and Economic Impact of the Urban Regeneration Project in Jeonju Hanok Village Area (전주 한옥마을의 도시재생사업이 지역변화에 미친 영향)

  • Recently, urban regeneration is being actively promoted in Korea and among those Jeonju Hanok Village is the major project which is the most consistently promoted. For this, visitors of Jeonju Hanok Village are skyrocketing. However, due to this condition, various problems are occurring, especially about commercialization. In this regard, this study is to suggest management of the Jeonju Hanok Village and new orientation in the policy, by analyzing physical, economic, and social status due to urban regeneration for Jeonju Hanok Village which has lost its identity and been commercialized. For this, the study analyzed changes in land usage and real transaction price, SNS data. Firstly, in the physical analysis, the study realized that there is commercialization going around the main streets of Jeonju Hanok Village. Due to the rapid commercialization, living spaces for locals are replaced to commercial spaces for tourists, and the emigration of locals is caused by economic/environmental damages with the degradation of housing environments. Secondly, in the economic analysis, there was no gap in real transactions among streets in 2010 but has shown a valid gap in 2016. The traffic of tourists is heavy and the real transaction prices of streets that are adjacent to major tourist sights rose the most. Rising real transaction prices are a positive phenomenon in the aspect of the city regeneration but it is concerned that they can be perceived as investment subjects. Thirdly, in the social analysis, tourists are using commercial aspects more than historical or cultural sites, and have lots of interest on those. However, because there are also lots of opinions about the commercialization of Hanok Village, we think the plans which can establish the identity of Hanok Village should be prepared. The study has its meaning on analyzing reality based on the land usage, real transaction, SNS data and suggesting political implications.

A Study on Risks and Returns Using A Housing Capital Asset Pricing Model (CAPM): the Case of Three Gangnam Districts Apartment Market in Seoul (주택 자본자산가격결정모형(Capital Asset Pricing Model)을 활용한 위험과 수익 분석: 서울 강남 3개구 아파트시장의 경우)

  • This paper examines the tendency of housing assets to become increasingly quasi-financial assets by analyzing the relationships between risks and returns in three Gangnam districts (Gangnam-gu, Seocho-gu and Songpa-gu) apartment markets in Seoul, especially for the apartments to be reconstructed, capitalizing upon some capital asset pricing models (CAPM). A single factor CAPM model shows positive relationships between risks and returns regardless of the types of apartments in three Gangnam districts. Multi-factors CAPM models also confirm that the market and SMB (small minus big) factors are positively related to the rate of returns regardless of the types of apartments. However, the unsystematic risk factor is found to be statistically positive especially for the apartments to be reconstructed, while the momentum factor is dependent upon the regression models used. An analysis on some portfolios classified by the size of apartments and price volatility and/or beta values suggests that there are the positive linear relationships between risks and returns and the SMB factor is clearly found to be significant in determining the rate of returns. In particular, housing assets are highly highlighted as investment goods and/or quasi financial assets for the apartments to be constructed in the Gangnam housing.
